There is an Emo vs Goth episode. Also the Goths play a pretty good part in the "Coon Trilogy". It is the best South Park trilogy. First you need to react to the Coon episode. And then later they have the 3 part trilogy. So there are actually 4 parts to it.
You mentioned Butters being like Gollum in this episode. You *need* to watch the LOTR parody, "The Return of the Fellowship of the Ring to the Two Towers." It's one of my favorite episodes. Heck, you need to see more Season 6 episodes, which I personally consider probably the best season (even in spite of Kenny being absent for the vast majority of it): "The Simpsons Already Did It" (the part 2 for"Professor Chaos"), "Asspen," "Fun with Veal," "Red Hot Catholic Love," "Freak Strike," "Child Abduction Is Not Funny," "The Death Camp of Tolerance," "A Ladder to Heaven," etc.
i turned 30 in 2006, so by 2008 i was totally lost with all that stuff, ha. when i started high school in 1990 we just had goths, the ppl who dressed in mostly black & listened to the cure & bauhaus & joy division & smoked weed etc, & thats all i really understand...idk how matt & trey (who are little older than me), stay so current😂🤣😂
This episode was about the Vampire kids, not the Emo kids. The Emo kids episode is later. The Goth kids were introduced during the Stan break up episode which I think was already reacted to. It was the episode where Butters gets dumped by the Raisins girl.
The Vampire Phase was a real thing. When Twilight came out, a lot of kids started dressing up like vampires. And some of them believed they were actually vampires... My friends sister, who was like 16 or 17 at the time, believed she was a real vampire... I cringe just thinking about it, and I'm so glad that whole vampire phase died out a long time ago.
Nailed it lol. I remember that time well though at my high school, it wasn't as full blown as other schools. Also worth noting were the "Twilight moms" who were obsessed with Twilight as well lol
Dude, no kidding. Back in highschool I went on a date with a girl, absolutely gorgeous. Later that night we were on the phone for a couple hours, as you did back then, where she told me she was actually 118 and her name was Corinthia. It just didn't work out.
I remember there was a random black guy in the crowd at the NAMBLA meeting, the Marlon Brando one. he was so out of place and I was hoping he was the same guy, but no.
It’s actually a recurring joke in the show where the goth kids are sometimes mistaken for emos. There’s an episode with the goth kids and emos called “Goth Kids 3: Dawn of the Posers” and it explains the difference between the two
When I was growing up my friends dad was the night manager of the local grocery store and there was a guy working night shift that swore he was a vampire and would beg to the point of crying to leave before sunrise. Also he would spend his entire paycheck playing the claw machine at the entrance.
Since you guys saw how Butters was ungroundable for a bit, now watch "Grounded Vindaloop" a fun satire on virtual reality games and those types of movies. The Emo vs Goth happens in Goth Kids 3: Dawn of the Posers, you guys should just complete the trilogy.
5:22 Kacee saying "His little hair!" about Butters kind of makes me think of Paris Hilton saying "Look at his little puff ball!" in the "Stupid Spoiled Wh**e Video Playset" episode.
The GOTH vs EMO episode is this SOUTH PARK Goth Kids 3: Dawn of the Posers Season 17 Episode 4 The episode satirizes the goth, emo, and vampire teen subcultures, and uses plot elements from the film Invasion of the Body Snatchers. It also serves as a sequel to both "Raisins" and "The Ungroundable".
This episode is hitting on the huge uptick in Vampire roleplay that plauged the real world after _Twilight_ became mainstream. Those days are over, but Vampire roleplay has been a thing for much longer than that and continues even now; those are the people Anthony mentioned. Trey and Matt mostly attacked the posers who were just following the trend, and the goths not knowing the difference, thereby offending the real ones by grouping them with the posers, was either absolute genius or the greatest mistake ever.
I'd kind of would like to see y'all react to the first South Park episode. The production value, acting, etc. wasn't the best, but you'll see how far the show became since.
Goth kids introduction was in the episode Raisins. The couple of episodes dedicated to them this one and season seventeenth episode 4 “ Goth Kids 3 : Dawn of the Posers “ thats where the emo vs goths happen.
"burn down burn down hot topic" was on my playlist for years, along with the generic The Cure themed Goth Kids song back from season 8. i was really into mall goth stuff like hot topic, after they closed the store...Inti? I think Etni is a skater shoe brand, and Inti was also at the mall (between the arcade and auntie ann's pretzels) and was where i'd buy the black rubber bracelets.
Man, I was in 9th grade when the whole skinny jeans era started to get big and all I would wear was skinny jeans and shirts from the hot topic and I also started skateboarding. The good old days 😂
I think this is more of an episode in regards to Goth vs. the "Scene" aesthetic from the 2000's that got popular back during the MySpace days. Bright-colored flat-ironed hair, band t-shirts, quirky bracelets, lots of stripes, flamboyant socks and clothes overall with chucks, etc. I'm not too familiar with the vamp term but I do know that the scene aesthetic was huge when I was younger and there was definitely tension between goth/emo/scene kids at my middle and high schools lol
December will be here before you know it, so you should watch "Woodland Critter Christmas" (South Park: season 8, episode 14). Then you'll be ready to watch the "Imaginationland" trilogy (South Park: season 11, episodes 10, 11, 12). You can actually enjoy "Imaginationland" without watching other South Park episodes first, but that would spoil a couple of key jokes/reveals in "Woodland Critter Christmas."
You really need to watch the South Park movie Bigger, Longer and Uncut. It holds up very well and is a absolute blast, with a massive dig at censorship. Matt and Trey were nominated for a Oscar, for best original song for the movie.
If you haven't seen it you would love What We Do In The Shadows, especially the series. You won't know the actors in it but it has 2 of the best comic actors, Matt Berry and Kayvan Novak.
As soon as he opened that cupboard I was like… it’s beautiful. Alphabetically? Cherry on top. It’s… magnificent. Even my OCD preachers wife retired special neeeds teacher of a mother would approve 😂.
I remember when this came out when I was 12 or 13 years old at that time it was aired and looking at it again now it makes me relatable between as metalheads (myself) and goths/emos cause there is totally no difference between them. Especially in todays time as well. Lol But if you like to know, if you like to see another goth kids episode called "Dawn Of The Posers" in season 17 you guys should check it out when you can. But overall it was fun seeing you too watch this episode together, also. P.S Kacee if you read this I really enjoyed watching your 48 hour emo video, even though I'm completely not emo type (as a metalhead) but I was enjoyable to see something out of your comfort zone. Continue on you two 😊😉
Since we have similar sense of humor and love Butters and crazy scenarios you would like episode: Asian Turf War. Another ,not so Butters episode, but really funny is "The F*Word" episode
People suggest watching South Park in sequence, but it seems like more people want to see you react to their favorite episodes ASAP, and going in sequence would mean making them slog through a whole lot of non-favorite episodes before you got to the ones they care about. On the other hand, going in sequence would mean EVENTUALLY getting through all the episodes while reacting the the most recommended episode would probably skip less hyped episodes that could still be some people's favorites.
I grew up a Goth metalhead - Emo and Vamp are two different things. Goth hates the world, Emo hates themselves. Where goth is focused on death and the macabre in general, Emo mostly focused on emotional pain and ways to end it. Vamps were an offshoot of people who were just really obsessed with Twilight. I knew vamp kids who didn’t even wear black half the time and avoided all things Goth. Plus now, you have ALL kinds of Goth subcultures. Cottage, Corp, Trad, Mod, Rave, etc. So being goth is more of a lifestyle than it is just a fashion statement. So the aesthetic is secondary.
Nah, 2001-2002 was definitely peak Emo/“Scene”kid culture (I may have gone through that phase at its peak 😅)! 2008 was definitely peak weird “vamp” kids though! So it’s fitting 🙂
The goth kids are top tier in terms of South Park characters. There's actually an emo southpark episode also. I forget the exact episode but they aren't referring to vamp kids as Emos. Vamp kids actually existed.
The Emos haven't entered the picture yet, 'cause it's basically worse than becoming a Vamp, different from Vamps and Goths when Henrietta suddenly turns Emo in a later episode lol. One of the follow-up episodes featuring mostly the goth kids, maybe actually titled "Goth Kids 2" or 3. They pop up in a lot of random episodes, but they get more episodes devoted almost entirely to them (with other characters sprinkled in like Butters in this one)
A group from Murray, Ky that thought they were vampires drove to Florida and killed someone in the groups, mother. This was early 2000’s and could have inspired some of this episode.
I think the emos were referenced as far back as "Breast Cancer Show Ever" when they get called emo by mistake but I don't think we see emos until Goths Part 3 (which now that I realize it is just the goths with fluorescent streaks in their hair).
Scottsdale, AZ is where Jimmy Eat World is from lmao. Also, you want Goth Kids 3 Dawn of the Posers, thats the emo kids episode this is the wannabe-goth vamp kids post-Twilight
In 2011, I introduced my cousin to Clamato. He lives in Poland. I live in Canada (in fact, in Calgary, where the Caesar, and Clamato originated). He only understood Clamato in the context of this episode of South Park.
i think it's the 3rd Goth Kid episode that has Emo kids, also worth a watch. i don't know if the goth kids have had another episode since that one, I quit watching every episode around season 16 i think and haven't seen much in probably 10 years, but the first 8 seasons are gold
Darn we missed a great opportunity for the Columbus Day episode, per se, “Holiday Special” s21e03… maybe for Halloween, “A Nightmare on Face Time” s16e12
Episode 4 of Season 17 is Goth kids 3: Dawn of the Posers. That's probably the goth v emo episode you were thinking of. Butters' vamp kid arc is a good episode too though.
Kacee? Kasey? Casey? I dunno how to spell it but Bloody Caesars are heavenly. I used to buy cans of bud light Michelada, I forget if it only used tomato juice or if it was clamato. love me spicy, tomato, and fish, wish I could have a spicy seafood stew and drink a bloody caesar on my birthday.
This is a great episode, and one of Butter's best. If you want some more great Butters episodes you haven't reacted to yet i'd suggest City Sushi, The China Probrem, Sarcastaball or Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset.
