Thanks everyone for the very kind words on this video, it was a great trip and I'll hopefully be back out there in the summer to complete the series. Also welcome and thanks to all the new subcribers, plenty of videos coming soon.
Great video of a really interesting yet remote part of the world. Big respect for taking the time to brasso up the brass plates on the memorials for the fallen. We will remember them
Good to see you back pal , served with a couple of guys who were in the Falklands , stories about Mount tumbledown were crazy , no ammo and bayonet charges at the top . R.i.p. to the Scots and Welsh guardsmen and all the others who fell ! 🔵🔴🔵
Well done lads for looking after the war memorials, never out of hearts for the ones we left behind great videos I've just singed up thanks again 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
What a brilliant video! Very informative and educational. I've been to the Falklands, but the missus knows very little about them, so she really enjoyed watching this, she found it really interesting. Oh, and that camp spot looked the bollocks! Nice one, mate.
Very interesting and also very moving. Its unlikely that many people will be able to visit these locations given they are so remote. Really well produced video and thanks for sharing this.
Fantastic video mate what a stunning place I had a lump in my throat seeing all them graves of great men who gave there lives for this broken country now much respect to u both great to see u back 👊
Spot on this video, nice one. I done two tours down there in the early 1990's, how the islands have changed!! Road to goose green? MPA to stanley, that was it. Good to see all the memorials going up.
Couple of my mates lost their brother on the Galahad , saw his name on the memorial you showed, Sgt John Elley. All from the Pontypridd area, Terry was in the Welsh Guards, Peter was in the Royal Marines, I know they've been out to visit the memorial. It must be good for them to know the memorial is being well looked after. Thanks for taking the time to show us mate. All the best Mally
Only just came across this excellent vid. I was down there merely 3 months ago where i stayed in Stanley with good friends Mike McLeod and his wife Margaret. Both Mike and Margaret are extremely knowledgeable of all what happened in 82 as they both lived through it as a young teens. They are both truly wonderful people and have tremendous love and respect for all the forces involved in the liberation of their homeland. If you need any more detailed information on the battle sites, look him up in Short St, Stanley (everyone knows him) and im sure he will be more than happy to give you a tour of the battlefields as thats what he does for a living now that hes retired. You couldnt meet a more fabulous group of people than the Falkland Islanders. Couldnt help noticing how overcome you were at the memorial at San Carlos. It also got me right in the feels too.
Good to see you back buddy. Really enjoyed this video found it really interesting going around the various battle sites and memorials to those lost in the Falklands
Great trip and great vid, thanks. Respect. I was 8 when the Falklands kicked off, still got newspapers and magazines somewhere. Mum used to work at Copenacre in Wiltshire for British Navy, handling navy supply lines etc, she got locked in for a while for operational security, so I used to get 50p from dad - who was working - to walk my little sister to the Post Office and get lunch .. which always ended up being pick and mix. Mum died just before Christmas, but soo proud that she played a small part.
I was at San Carlos late 84. Visited the cemetery the first and last days I was there and it was so quiet and peaceful. Not a breathe of wind but just up the hill it was blowing a gale. Back then, apart from the surrounding hills, we travelled by helicopter as there were no semi decent roads unless we were going over the water to Ajax Bay. If memory serves me correctly i think That the surgeon you mentioned, Capt Jolley, received an award from Argentina for his efforts treating their wounded and injured.
Absolutely fascinating! Very moving. The way you presented this shows such empathy and respect. My brother 's schoolfriend, Joe Tredegar, died on HMS Sheffield. He was 19. Looking forward to Part 2. Thank you for making this video - first class!
I found your channel by sheer accident but Total respect to you 👌 My sister in laws brother is Marine David Wilson whose grave you visited at San Carlos, I was hoping from watching that you would view each grave in turn & was delighted to see you did, brought an instant tear to my eye, He was & still is my hero & inspired me to go on & serve 24 years in the military myself retiring in 2007. Thank you from a veteran for all your effort you put into making this & for caring for the memorials whilst you were down there.🙏 Ubique
