      Hi Lisa Smith, I absolutely agree. Creature Comforts was amazing! Filmed in claymation, stop and go. Like the wonderful Wallace and Gromet films. Creature Comforts took real life interviews and made puppets out of them. Just explaining for the US audience. Deff worth a watch! 😊 👍

    Hello Joel and pals. The thing about visiting US is all those prairie dogs shouting my name repeatedly!
    Zebras display camouflage, but you see colours and assume the predators do. Also the idea is to not give a simple outline, especially at a distance in a herd. Check out camouflage on WW1 ships.

    I think with Zebras, when there in a heard, the stripes makes it hard to differentiate an individual Zebra.
    So it looks like one big mass of stripes, so it’s a little harder for predators to pick of individuals.

    “It’s like Piccadilly Circus” is a common saying which just means “it’s really busy”. Piccadilly Circus is a big road interchange (roundabout) in London. I don’t know why it is so often talked about as an idea of busy traffic. It was the location of the final scene in “An American Werewolf in London”.

    Just in case it hasn't been said already, when lions hunt they single out one prey and go for it. The stripes on a zebra make it difficult for lions to single one out (especially when the herd is in motion), making the hunt more difficult for the lion.

    Thermoregulation has long been suggested by scientists as the function of zebra stripes. The basic idea is that black stripes would absorb heat in the morning and warm up zebras, whereas white stripes reflect light more and could thus help cool zebras as they graze for hours in the blazing sun.
    Survival in the wild often hinges on the ability to evade predators. Zebra stripes serve as a form of anti-predator camouflage. The contrasting black and white patterns break up the zebra's outline, making it harder for predators to single them out from the surroundings.

    • @garyskinner2422
      @garyskinner2422 3 місяці тому +2

      Zebras are no more horses than donkeys are, they do in fact belong to the species equine, but they each have distinct characteristics, it would go against the law of identity in logic, thus a horse is a horse and a zebra is a zebra they cannot be both at the same time. But I understand your sentiment

  • @jinjerhulk777
    @jinjerhulk777 3 місяці тому

    When Zebras are altogether, they become a blur to predators, because of their design. So the predators can't single out 1 Zebra.
