Without any doubt whatsoever, this is in my personal Top 20 favorites of all time. This post prog sludge perfection will never be duplicated or superseded. That is a fact.
My "favorite" band out of everything I've listened to in my life thus far. I've listened to polyphia, animals as leaders, Deftones, Radiohead, to fleet Foxes, MGMT, king gizzard and the lizard wizard, wishbone Ash, u name it...for reasons scientific is has a sound that hits my ears and extracts feelings in a way no one else does. I am not into technical, how fast can u go, djenty, or even solos for that. I have always, always been into atmosphere (at most fear) and overall structure. Isis turned me on to Russian circles, red sparowes, pelican, explosions in the sky, cloudkicker, some others. They are still best...panopticon is a masterpiece. Only concept album I like as much is deloused by Mars volta.
Wow, I was going to write a comment, but yours said it for me. I will note, Cloudkicker is up there for me as well, but Isis is seriously my favorite band overall of all time. They destroy all barriers, and live... WHAT? They hit specific spots that reminds me of camping with my passed father, listening to old rock songs. They can tickle a metal itch, but have some of the most amazing bass and drum jams I've ever heard. I can't believe this band didn't become more well known, but I'm happy I have been listening to them as medicine since sometime around 2002. Glad to see someone share these thoughts as recent as 7 months ago, cheers brother! This music feels timeless somehow!
The great Stone walls Rise above our heads Cold and sad Pale light A dusty veil The sun makes its way in Destitute, weak You're at my side again Faithful guide Unfailing Here we stand Among the others The living Among the dead Veins still flowing full Lungs filled with white light Push forward Lifeless bodies swept aside They are on us Cast a net of armor Over our heads Hide our life Lest it be Lifted from us We must leave this place Of deathly decay Don't look back, press on
For me, this song resembles finding hope from a total and utter grief in a sudden way. Simply, this is beyond perfection. BTW, I miss this band, honestly too much! 😔
It took me a couple of listens to really make out Jones' part on this. It's interesting hearing him play with a band that, though they operate in similar territory, do so very differently. Isis are awesome in any case, and this song is flat-out perfect.
You cannot compare TooL and APC to Isis so easily. Although from the same era all of those bands have similar sound yet different styles. I personally do not have a single issue with the lead singer of Isis, my interpretation of Isis is to experience the music and not just they voice/lyrics.
Aaron Turner is my favourite vocalist of all time. I don't care what he says. The sounds he makes with this music move me to tears of joy and elation. I love it.
Cameron Ratliff I was just thinking that too...I wonder how the name has affected them as a band..due to the terrorists name being the same...haha man this band is so bad ass though.
It's incredibly difficult to pull off flawlessly. Adam Jones' percussive attack is hard to replicate in the muted tremolo style he does. Also, it's easy to miscount the trailing triplets and duplets, because they're so silent sometimes. Almost phantom notes, but not completely.
Not everything is Tool, you know...? And not everybody has to sing like Maynard. And you should listen to other songs and other albums as well. Just to see why people like them so much. Because people who listen to Isis also listen to Tool. You'll see why.
That opening riff sounds like Jambi and Schism. Needles to say tool and Isis toured before. Also that vocalist ruined this nice song. Why they are not an instrumental band Like Pelican?
Really? What kind of question is that? Pelican is Pelican and Isis is Isis. How about all bands start being like Pelican? Let's make everything in this world the same. Just because you can't dig his vocals that doesn't mean he ruined the song. Personally i think the vocals give the song a dreamy atmosphere and calms everything down. Have you listened to other songs? Would you prefer that all the other songs to be only instrumentals? The vocals make their songs complete. Same goes for Pelican. Try adding some vocals and you'll ruin the songs.

ISIS albums are amazing...but Wavering is the cherry on top

The only band that gives me chill like Isis does is Cult of Luna (russian circles as well but you already mentionned them)

This album is gold
bro you have taste
Deloused in the comatorium is a killer album
The reason you can hear Tool in this song is because Adam Jones was a guest guitarist on this.
***** Why is it so hard to type a coherent sentence? Lazy...
He plays the razer ebow part that starts at 4:25ish, the rest is 100% ISIS.
The great
Stone walls
Rise above our heads
Cold and sad
Pale light
A dusty veil
The sun makes its way in
Destitute, weak
You're at my side again
Faithful guide
Unfailing
Here we stand
Among the others
The living
Among the dead
Veins still flowing full
Lungs filled with white light
Push forward
Lifeless bodies swept aside
They are on us
Cast a net of armor
Over our heads
Hide our life
Lest it be
Lifted from us
We must leave this place
Of deathly decay
Don't look back, press on
Nice 'Morningrise' pic!
*destined to wake
What an impressive album.
For me, this song resembles finding hope from a total and utter grief in a sudden way. Simply, this is beyond perfection. BTW, I miss this band, honestly too much! 😔
Gets better every time I listen to this
Excellent music.
don't look back. press on.
3:51 the universe re-creates itself
Aw, first song.. beautiful album !
dear god that was amazing

I Fuking Love them

Tool don't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as Isis.
@@BlackSailPass_GuitarCovers We saw Danny Carey the drummer from Tool at an ISIS show in LA haha
unless you're describing how much better Isis are, of course
Amazing band and song! Although it sucks that there's a lot of idiots that will confuse their name with a group of psychopathic terrorists.
Cameron Ratliff I was just thinking that too...I wonder how the name has affected them as a band..due to the terrorists name being the same...haha man this band is so bad ass though.
Gennifer Prue They changed their name to Celestial.
Cool intro riff, 5/4 time sig!
I'm hearing more of a 10/8 tbh. 3+3+2+2. Almost the same thing though! Great riff

Isa co sisa, sisa co isa. Growl for me boy.
Nice alternation between melodic vocals and growls.
this is how i feel every day before noon

i actually thought that there is no band that sounds like tool but then i discovered post metal lol
@breathed9 I feel the same way about the song "So Did We"
I'm pretty sure he plays for the duration- takes a while to spot him- and the solo might be him too.
3:00
1:16:10 Hall Is Dead
Adam Jones on lead
yo!
correct me if i'm wrong but adam jones did either guitar or keyboard on this track, one of the two, and also on another track from this album.
Guitar, on this one and the title track as well.
3:26 = head explosion.
4:36
Hall = Corredor
around which part of the song is the jones part?
fernando haro half way mark.
These guys should do a song with Insane Clown Posse
@veritasuo What? o.O
reminds me a little bit of between the buried and me
pffffffffffffffffff you were hacked by ur own little bro ?.......
Good question, I think my little bro accessed my account and did that. lol.
isis make bands like Tool seem lame
Not sure "Isis" is the way to go.

The reason it sounds like Tool riffs in this song is because it has Adam Jones, the guitarist of Tool.
That's just like, your opinion, man.
Nah, he just adds a bit of ambience to the quiet bit after 4:25
i love his vocals
only good song on album
no
The whole album is good.
U sucked 7 years ago.
only bad comment on website
A hint of Tool, Slight sounds of APC, with a very BAD singer.
The singer is amazing what
perfect for the album
🤣
haha Tool should have a singer with balls, he brings them down
