Upper Manoa was my home in the 70s. This place is still special no matter how much it changed.

I love Manoa. You nailed it. I taught at UH for a few years, after I graduated from there; loved my time up there. Housing is super expensive and only getting more expensive. Basically, you have to be a multimillionaire now to have a home on Oahu. I moved to Kona, got a 12 year old home on a half acre two blocks up off the beach. I still have a condo in Waikiki where I lived for 2 decades, but condo life sucks; it’s all perpetual politics and fee increases. Makes me sad to see Oahu, it’s just too crowded and too expensive, now.

This is so good. We live in Manoa for about 40 years and I'll share this with an exchange student that is about to be our housemate.

@@MrAmor-wh1rm Our grandkids went to Noelani too. Manoa is the best place to live on this planet. Sadly we don't have much more to live here, because we are OLD.

@@MrAmor-wh1rm You have to be a millionaire to afford anything. A broken down house up the road sold for over a million. We rent.

It really is crazy. My wife and I toy with the idea of retiring in Hawaii; but after 30 years in IT and saving a lot, I still can’t afford a house in Hawaii. I don’t know how people do it, especially when you contrast median income vs home prices.
