Famed for his classical music films, director Eric Schulz has created a new five-part video series, The Sound of Art, about the history of Deutsche Grammophon. He speaks to leading figures at DG, past and present, takes a behind-the-scenes look at recent recording sessions, and interviews some of the artists who have played a part in DG’s evolution and success, from Lang Lang, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Víkingur Ólafsson and Alice Sara Ott to Joe Hisaishi, Joana Mallwitz and Jonathan Tetelman, with additional contributions from Hilary Hahn, Daniel Hope, John Williams and more.

Muito Obrigado a Deutsch Grammophon, desde meus 6 anos admirava a beleza do mágico e icônico selo amarelo e azul e as capas dos vinis. Quando juntava dinheiro por meses e meu pai e minha mãe complementavam, era uma alegria indescritível ir comprar as sinfonias de Beethoven com Herbert Von Karaijan. Ao abrir a capa e ouvir as sinfonias, parecia que uma parte do céu estava na terra materializada naquele vinil. Anos depois coloquei no prefácio de minha dissertação de mestrado em engenharia a Ode a Alegria. Vida Longa a Deutsch Grammophon e muito obrigado por existirem, alegrarem o mundo com suas gravações e divulgarem a música celestial. Abraços de Giulio P Frigerio -São Paulo Brasil

DG is such a well packed catalogue of treasures waiting to see the time of day again. Under the DG Original source series how about a Karajan / BPO Beethoven 5 or 7 from the 1st cycle? Or one of the Jochum Bruckner symphonies, just tons and tons of really excellent performances sitting in the vaults.

Love these videos - has the story of DG never been written ? Is there a book about it somewhere ? I have the book "Deutche Grammophone State of the Art" from 2009 which is interesting and it has a lot of photos but that one does not go deeply into the history which would be so fascinating to read.
