Love these vintage Matchbox vehicles! My brother had most of them. Stolen in a move, never passed down to his little brother...me.

I am an expert with 35 years of professional experience with Matchbox and their boxes. I have been a full time collector and reseller since 1990. No box was harmed while filming this video for your enjoyment. Thanks for watching.

This video takes me back to my childhood in the 1960s. I had a number of the Matchbox toys. I live in New Zealand and they were sold here from the Britain. They were alot more expensive than in the UK. Some were very detailed for tiny metal toy cars. I had a Ford Anglia in a blue color, which i liked alot. Later i had a collection of Dinky cars.

Matchbox and Hotwheels were the only toys I liked.....My childhood collection was from 1967 to 1980....When I started driving real cars they were in our yardsale....

Loving the videos. Funny enough the Radio Rentals van is from an Australian based company that only 4 years ago closed down. I have only recently started to recollect my Matchbox collection as my mother, bless her, gave my collection to my Neighbours kids after I moved out of home. We did often have a dig at each other at what my collection would be worth now. Considering when I started collecting them they were only 29cents each at our newsagents. I started collecting them when Australian currency changed from pounds and pence to dollars and cents in 1966.

Use some WD-40. A tiny bit on a soft rag and just wiped it. Will not hurt the paint 👍

I had that police car (shown at 3:55 ) as a kid, I think it was in 1967 or so. 1960's for sure. But mine got all beat up. Nice to see it mint. Brings back fond memories of me playing with it.

nice video, really entertaining ! one thing though worries me, is this the best way to store these fine cars and their boxes ? why not wrap the boxes with acid-free tissue paper ? that way they will keep dry and probably won't collect smell and dust from the basement or attic wherever you will store them. That also would be a very interesting subject for a video. But i love that collection. Take good care of it , please. Thanks for the video ! and yes i subscribed.

My home has a dehumidifier and a dry basement. Always 65 to 71 degrees in the house. We do not have humidity in the summers. So not an issue. Collecting is my life and my toys are my babies! Thanks!

The beauty of the older Matchbox is that they look their age and are actual antiques. Hot Wheels no matter how old will never be antiques, just collectibles. But Hot Wheels are 100 times more in demand. I always tell collectors that Matchbox come in two conditions, mint in box and used. And each model comes in one color. So they are easy to collect. Hot Wheels come in 8 to 20 colors each and a thousand different conditions. Collecting Hot Wheels is competitive and expensive.

I'm surprised that the rubber bands didn't cause damage. I noticed after many decades, the rubber may react to the paint and plastic.

Hey Dave. Another fun video. How about any resales of these or other duplicates in your collection? I was always a Matchbox collector. Never had Hot Wheels or Corgi. Started out with the gray wheeled models in 1962.
Thanks for letting us view your treasures. 👍🏼👍🏼

I can remember playing with my Matchbox cars as a kid. Sad to say don't know what happened to them, lost over the years? Have you ever come across any Matchbox toys that have "zinc-rot"?

    • @toycarcollector
      @toycarcollector  Рік тому

No I have not seen that on Matchbox, I do see that on a few 1971 Redline Hot Wheels.

Your method of storage is good, and it could be taken to toy shows that way. I consistently see dealers at toy shows who put out Matchbox and leave the cars in the boxes. So you have to open every box to see what is inside. I would think those dealers would realize that puts stres and potential damage to the product.

I so far also haven't seen any toy 18 wheeled trucks: such as the Kenworth Aerodyne K100. It would definitely be great if there was. This is something that's very rare. The car that also went out of business was the Tyrell P34 F1. This formula one race car had 6 wheels.

Alcohal dip dry under sunlight or lamp maybe. Or distilled Apple cider vinegar soak and sunlight dry. Maybe not for any cars with decals.

I had a casting that was sticky and I used some 3 in one oil and it helped remove the stickyness try it on one of you least important ones and see how it turns out for you it worked good for me and it helped make the tarnished paint in one spot look less messed up and keeps the corrosion away too
