yeah one of the most underrated shows. I think this show had the best character and story development of them all. Like its insane how much it improves over the time, when most of the shows get worst and worst the longer they go.
Historical fiction is always a less popular genre than it should be. Also, the rest may be true but the characters and themes are by no means unique (still great)
@@fakecubedLOL! Starz may not be HBO, but it is definitely not obscure. Besides this show, it is also the home of Outlander. The problem with the show was Game of Thrones stole all of the media attention. Had GOT not been around, this show would have been the most talked about premium cable show.
“I will rain holy hell down upon him” I would scream too Milena!! The way I am completely obsessed with how much you love Flint! Truly one of the best characters ever written. And Toby Stephens was absolutely ROBBED for having no awards given for his portrayal of James Flint.
The book is La Galatea, by Miguel de Cervantes (same author as Don Quixote). It's about two men who are in love with the same woman. Every literary reference in the show has meaning. I. too, would follow Flint anywhere.
Toby as Captain Flint is top 3 among all shows / characters i ever watched, his energy, his resolve...omg! i would follow him through hell itself, literally.
I love that you two love Flint as much as I do. 😁 He can give one hell of a speech. The show found lightening in a bottle when they cast Toby Stephens. I believe in my heart that Max's advice to Vane on how to get over Eleanor would've been "Sleep with Jack". Vane should've listened to her.
Man I forgot how jam packed with goodness this episode was. Just incredible acting, Choreography and writing all the way through. Such an underrated show.
Against my better judgment, I too might Follow Flint anywhere too. His motivational speeches make so much sense and they are just so thrilling to listen to. The chills. That said, you have to hand it to Vane for showing Eleanor how far he is willing to go to Protect her while also making it look like a logical economic move. His men are happy and he is REALLY happy.
"Holy Hell?" ....that's the best kind Captain, alright I guess I'm following Flint lol This is one of my favorite Flint speeches. Hopefully this removes any doubt whether Flint loves Mrs. Barlow. A lot of people can't seem to understand how much she means to him just because it's subtle in how they express their affections for each other.
Your reactions are sooooo relatable, maybe my favorite out of any to this show i've watched. You deserve more views but sadly this fandom is on the smaller side gdfdg
It was airing at the same time as GOT, Justified, Breaking Bad, Spartacus and Sons of Anarchy. All overlapped at some points. Plus some others. That period is the golden age of TV, imo.
Great callout on the writing, the speech is, calling every scene significant in some way. Like, what other series gets you so anxious by just sharing a book? Season 2 is phenomenal.
Eleanor love for max vs vane vs power. Didn’t think of that way. When max had nothing Eleanor ‘s love was true but she chose power/nassau. But now max is growing in power. Interesting lens. You must be near the end and seeing this play out.
The beauty of this show is that it doesn’t do anything just for the shock value like game of thrones. Anything they do is necessary to progress the storyline. There is a speech in 2X10, 3X9, 3X10, and 4X10 that I love, are my favourite, and rewatch to this day
I don't think Eleanor is siding with Vane for any of those reasons. The same way Anne and Jack have been together since they were kids, she has known Vane as long. They just have a connection that they won't let go. The only difference is Anne and Jack want the same thing, Vane and Eleanor don't want the same thing and it's understandable. Eleanor isn't a pirate so she has to safeguard a legacy for herself here. What's her alternative, just be Vane's woman with no purpose except for him to use or a bargaining chip for her father to use? While I acknowledge Vane has feelings for her, he's still done some messed up things for the past two seasons so I don't really care about him. You made some great points about him as well, people just overlook the things he does because "oh he looks cool".
Vanes Actions were all kinda provoked or the Reaction to others Action or out of Revenge. The Situation with Max, because they lost a lot of Money bc oh her and Silver for example. I think People dont overlook it, they see it and still find the Character good because thats the Point, a love and hate Character, u sometimes dont like what he is doing, and sometimes u do. And some of his Actions are also kinda justified and like i already said, out of Revenge. The Claim People overlook what he is doing bc they think hes cool can also be said about Flint, Silver, Billy, and a lot of more.
@@DzigiONE the first time we meet Vane he kills a group of ex-slaves who had a share in Flints crew. he was not "provoked". He simply wanted to take over the competition. Eleanor made it clear she did not want to do business with him because his men were animals and were quick to kill crews. Pirates historically prefer to take goods under surrender, and that's best for Eleanor's business as well since she is the one who gives the pirates leads on where these ships will be. It doesn't help her business when they end up dead. The writers made it clear Vane did not operate that way. He just started killing the men Silver sent at the wrecks. He was being sold something, no betrayal was even happening yet that was his first impulse. Flint described him as an animal for the same reason. Clearly you've blocked out quite a bit to get to your conclusion.
4:05 Lola, you confuse me a lot more than you think when you speak English and the problem is that, you have to think more about the words you are going to say to express yourself, I always understand Milena more and she "struggles" more with English than you.
Still astounds me how such a well-crafted, well-written, and well-acted show with really unique characters and themes is so overlooked.
yeah one of the most underrated shows. I think this show had the best character and story development of them all. Like its insane how much it improves over the time, when most of the shows get worst and worst the longer they go.
It wasn't on one of the "premium" networks. Kinda how Breaking Bad wasn't really noticed until it hit Netflix.
It was on a pretty obscure cable TV channel that very few people actually had.

"Mr. Holmes doesn't work here anymore" CHILLSS. Major props to Tadhg Murphy as Ned Low. Amazing performance.
One of my top 5 favorite lines from the series! 🏴☠
Yeah one of my favourite lines in all of Television. The little pause beforehand too.

La Galatea was also written in Spanish, the language Miranda told Flint/James he should learn.
This show is so fucking good. I'll never stop trying to get my friends to watch it

Most People understand.
Its really hard to not fall in love with that script 💜
You two and this show is a highlight of my week. It will be over too soon..
I knew you guys would love this show 😊. So good!

LA GALATEA by Miguel de Cervantes was the "I'm Sorry" book
I would follow Flint into the very fires of Hell. I get it! Do I trust him? Fuck no! But I would follow him.
This show was airing at the same time as GoT, it’s significantly better.

Yup, I was trying to recommend they watch this before The Wire. Let’s get some movies...Pride and Prejudice?

Great reaction ladies!
It's been years since I watched Black Sails and I forgot how much nudity is in this show. Like so much!

Have you watched veep?
Don’t do your nails for a couple of weeks..lol
I think you're the only reactors ive ever seen draw the point about boundaries between jack and max. like thats a lesbian she's not into you boy gdsfs
Where are you from Lola? You speak English very well and say Milena needs to correct your Serbian.

Never scrolled down this far on that channel. And now its like nothing to see
