Sebastian Shaw is one of my favorite villains in the X-Men franchise and his powers rocks

Wasn't Tommy Lee Jones playing "Bernard Shaw"? I thought Kevin Bacon played the role of a lesser-ranked butt-boy who went to Shaw and David Ferrie (Joe Pesci)'s parties in the movie "JFK". EDIT: OOPS!!! LOL I guess Kevin Bacon played the role of Sebastian Shaw too in that XMan movie, which I did not watch yet hahahahahahaha . I guess what we have here is a case of 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon. Sorry about that.😆

Not many times have I ever thought he was bad. Man has a high standard.
The Hellfire club story line was pretty cool back in the early 80s and I enjoyed the movie. But what I want to see from a X-Man movie is Protous, a powerful mutant that had the power to control reality in any shape or form. His only weakness was he would burn out host bodies he took over. In the comics, Colossus eventually destroyed him. Great story arc.

Killing him with the coin was a smart move. Light slow object has close to zero kinetic energy, Sebastián cannot absorb anything to stop it.
How would Shaw fair against Gambit especially a full powered Gambit who controls kinetic and potential energy. A full powered Gambit literally beat Dark Phoenix.
It seems smart, but something tells me that a coin can't move through someone's skull without a lot of pressure/force/energy being applied to it. Maybe it wasn't a lot compared to a bomb, but I don't think it was close to zero either. Now, the brain is a completely different story.

Kevin Bacon played him well enough... but the character written for the movie just wasn't Sebastian Shaw. He had almost nothing in common with the comics version. They should have just made him an original character with a new name.
If Sebastian Shaw even comes to the MCU I want him to have the same powers as the Fox universe or have both his comic book powers and Fox era powers.
That depends on how much of the above story from the comics, they can get the rights to. Or you just get the same amount of nonsense from Hollywood.

I always wanted to see a fight between Sebastian Shaw and Luke Cage or Iron Fist.
He's too much for Luke Cage. Shaw tangles with guys like Colossus and once beat down Hercules. Those 2 are way stronger than Cage.
BUT, like I said in another post, if Cage fights him smart he could win. Tigra almost choked him out one time. If Cage can get a chokehold on him before he gets amped, he could win.

The catch 22 with Sebastian's absorbing ability is that he can get himself killed BY ABSORBING the feeling of PAIN itself which creates vulnerability. Case in point when he got into a SCRAP with NAMOR. If Sebastian didn't have the Telepaths around him for back up,,, NAMOR's HULK like Strength would BEAT SEBASTAIN into a coma. and pretty much to DEATH. The ABSORPTION of the PAIN dominates the RESPONSE time of SEBASTAIN being able to REDIRECT the kinetic energy back towards his opponent.

Is there a difference between bishop, maverick, and sabastian's abilities? Seems like marvel recycled this power much like many other mutants. I'm not complaining just making an observation. I don't mind characters having similar powers as long as their stories are interesting. Marvel has done well at this in the past.

Shaw's ability has a awful side effect if he makes it THAT LONG. HIS ABILITY TO ABSORB "PAIN" Like when NAMOR BEAT HIM INTO A COMA. Almost .He playa hated Namor for SCREWING EMMA making him to appear to be a cuckold.Amongst other things. Sebastians absorbing ability becomes a FLAW for him when it comes to absorbing BLOWS FROM a major POWER PLANT LIKE NAMOR MACKENZIE. HE CAN'T. And it took telepaths to distract Namor. PAIN ITSELF. DOMINATES THE RESPONSE TIME for Sebastian to be able to RE-DIRECT the kinetic energy he absorbs.

First Class did such an amazing job on the visuals, but man they shit the bed on the story in some places. It wanted the Darwin death to show how BA Shaw was, but literally everyone was like, "you broke the rules!"
What I don't like about these presentations is that they are offered in a format where it is assumed that this was the character's origin/motivation from the start. We get a glimpse of Shaw from his introduction, but that's it. Anything about his English father, or his manifestation of his mutant power, or how old he was when he became a billionaire is a later add-on. I wish the writers here would anchor their telling of Shaw with what issues this story is first told. Are we getting this from some comic that appeared in the 80s, or from some comic that appeared in 2010 when some fanboy was writing and wanted Shaw to be legit almost Omega and was a total bro, bro?

Actually Gambit could in a straight one vs one no tricks especially a full powered Gambit. Gambit controls kinetic and potential energy and literally beat the Dark Phoenix. Plus Gambit has none of Shaw weaknesses including telepathy doesn't work on him nor does skin touching based powers ie Rogue's power. Full power Gambit is beyond omega level
