The thing that kills me with this fanbase is how this one episode was enough to make half of them drop the show completely or even look at it differently. All Butcher did was honor his wife's dying wish to keep her child safe and people look at him like he's being a cuck or a complete idiot for doing so. Butcher told Soldier Boy to stand down after explaining who Ryan is and they could've killed Homelander after they had taken Ryan out of the building.

He’s like 1/20 of what Superman is MAYBE lol. And no, it’s been stated and shown that SB is roughly on par with HL if not his only equivalent. Butcher actually held his own against HL pretty well in the mansion but got decimated by SB here.

Yeah he is wrong, frick that little sh1t, that boy was supposed to be d3ad from the moment he was born, this change is stupid and made Butcher side with the man he wanted to end the most, this is out of character for him.
That's what I'm saying. Ryan is a child who's experienced traumatic ass shit at a young age. He just needs someone to guide him and it's not as though he's entirely evil and heartless. It's just what's going on around him that's influencing him so he doesn't need to die cuz having a 'homelander' aka ryan on The Boys team would be awesome
people do not understand that butcher wouldnt have cared for ryan had becca not made her last wish; which is to raise ryan properly and protect him from homelander. butcher, out of his love for becca, does not want to break his promise to her last wish. and thus, he felt compelled to protect ryan out of obligation to his late wife.
admittedly, at first i was kinda pissed. but after deeper consideration, what butcher did wasnt out of his character at all. he has a very good reason for doing what he did.
