They are thriving I work with them Also little white likes the controlled inside (used over the winter) rather than the "chaotic outside" however little gray loves the outside
This is such a moment that we waited for so long. I'm so grateful for those people who worked so hard educating the public and lobbying against animal abuse in entertainment in my home country.
First things first: don't capture them! No Beluga's, Seal's nor Orca's.. No Hummingbirds, no Treefrogs and Pythons.. No Ocelots, Desert foxes and Monkeys.. -- HUMANS DO NOT OWN ANIMALS, PERIOD.!!-- ( we just are one..)
If scientists could some how put together a visual instructional video of "How to Hunt" to play for them underwater that they would be able to follow and comprehend and then implement games they could partake in to mimic hunting...
Wonderful! When will other owners of these parks with captive whales and dolphins realise that people would be far more willing to pay and see their animals if they could create bays like this where they are displayed more ethically. Let’s hope this isn’t the last of these bays, which is ostensibly the equivalent of a wild life park for aquatic mammals.
It's just hard to find these kind of bay The requirements are 1 it's around where belugas live 2 have safety from the elements of nature 3 have a town close to the bay so the staff can have a home 4 be in a country Wich is accepting animal rehabilitation 5 have good water flow in the bay 6 get the whales from captivity 7 get the whales to the bay However if there were many more sites with these requirements we could rescue Manny whales
This is the next best documentary after Sir David Attenborough. Fantastic to see such a happy ending to be free from captivity. Kudos to everyone involved 👏 👏
The bay can hold up to 10 whales and they will be in free captivity unless they become self sufficient in Wich case we would release them into the wild
100% of captive cetaceans can be transferred to a more natural environment that will give them more of a semblance of the lives they're meant to live, but have been denied of for so long.
@@torpid That's not true. There were never captive breeding programs that re-introduced belugas back into the wild. They were only ever bred to be traded among other marine parks, many times not quite legally.
They are currently in a tiny indoor pool that's about 3 to 4 times their body length. This project, just like all the other "sanctuary" projects, has failed.
Im confused. sea life/merlin have other species in captivity . Merlin have sea lions performing for the public and im not too sure what the difference is. Why cant they be released also. no difference to me. I know it might be hard for some animals to go back to the wild but these beluga whales say otherwise.
What gives humans the right to enslave other life forms! As a saiyan I know what slavery is. My people worked and endured mistreatment at the hands of frieza! As the prince if all Saiyans I applaud the brave people that freed the belugas!
Not enough, a lot of animals are purposely not returned to the wild because they wouldn’t survive. It would be like housing a baby in a room for years with everything being given to it on a plate then expecting it to survive in the woods on its own whens its grown.
Cetaceans dont have 'instincts'. Everything they learn is passed down from their mothers and pod members...what to eat, how to hunt, the behaviors and language specific to their pods. Its a type of culture. The idea that animals are mechanical thinkers is so outdated. We know so much about their cultures and lives that its clear they are very much like humans.
These performing aquariums like Sea Life are such cruel soulless places with zero care for these majestic animals.I.pathologically hate zoos..rescue centres I don't because they're therapeutic places caring for sick, injured & the abandoned..but to make any creature perform like this is just vile...shame on all who visit these places.
Keiko did not die because he was released he was in bad health prior to release. He died of normal circumstances and lived the average age of male orcas. The pro captivity industry painted his release as a failure because it made people think twice about releasing them. I spoke with the manager of his release and read all the reports WSP was successful and Keiko had a great life in the wild.
but what i am interested in is what made the owners of the marine park turn around? what made them switch. cuz i really want them orcas to be set free as well

Now this is the news we like to see, magnificent and beautiful animals being set free or more free than they were originally were.
Well, that escalated quickly.

Belugas are such precious, beautiful and very fascinating creatures they deserve to be free like this
That Lagoon is gorgeous. I hope Little White and Little Grey are thriving!.

Absolutely beautiful to see.
Fantastic beautiful animals who deserve their freedom
They 100% do! Tokitae the orca is next on the list...

I met them in Iceland’s aquarium, I fell in love with them and got a tattoo of a beluga because of how special they were. I’m so happy for them❤️
Tattoos😒. So attractive at 60.
Just such amazing souls ....Please let this just be the beginning of carefully setting other Whales free.... It really is the least we can do.
What a brilliant team these beautiful creatures have working for them! Well done guys!

Would recommend everyone watch the full documentary on their release on ITV player. Get the tissues ready though.
HOW MANY?? 300 belugas still in captivity???
Something went terribly wrong with us humans, I suppose..

Are they still alive?
As if the UK and other countries don’t have aquariums where they also hold animals un captivity.
Not sure there was a comparison drawn. . . . Silly comment
Just wierd how they can get paid for a job that is basically just for 300 big fish
Finally no buotthurt pro caps in the comments saying THERE BEING PUT IN A GROSS POLLUTED PEN

Good to see Gemma Collins and Alison Hammond out swimming, getting some much needed exercise.
They need to do this to release killer whales back in to the wild
Sorry..I.meant to say Sea World then & NOT Sea Life !!
I hope their fate is not the same as Keiko' s, such sad ending to his story.
this time they are still looking after them, they are just in a bigger area which is very close to there natural habitat!
I don't find it particularly sad. He was around 27 at the time, which is close to the average life expectancy for male orcas living in the wild.

New owners, who didn’t believe that whales should be held in captivity, bought the park.
Thought for sure the MSCHF number would be here..
Who's gonna tell them that there both white
Why some native people still eat this beautiful creatures
So they went from a small aquarium to a big aquarium
Are they restricted to the lagoon? If yes, how?
Yes, the bay is netted off
march-21-how=are=they?
why are the water so dark????
It's the ocean. The ''color'' changes depending on how cloudy it is outside, how murky the water is, etc. It's an ever-changing environment.

Probably will get bullied by local belugas.
they wont be with other belugas they arnet bieng released fully into the wild
Iceland doesn't have a local beluga population but regardless, they aren't being fully released so that wouldn't be a problem.
