For me I took the latch and pocket clip off my rep not because of weight savings but because with a latch and pocket clip it makes it so I can’t do choker fans with the bite handle
All preference my man. However I agree with you here. I have a standard tanto from the latest batch, same batch you got yours in, and I'm not impressed with it. Why? Well.. I have two reps from older batches, one select alt and one premium white/purple tanto. They both feel slightly different and feel better to flip than the standard in my opinion. Specifically comparing the older tanto rep with my new one, the balance feels slightly more neutral with the old one, and the handle faces are slightly thicker near the pivots and don't taper as much as the newer Reps. They changed the shop they are manufactured in with the 2018 batches as far as I know and the quality of Reps has taken a pretty severe hit I think. People in the community have made measurements and the dimensions are not the same when comparing 2016 & 2017 batches vs. the latest 2018 batches. V1 Rep has many differences from the V2 rep as well. I'd say it mostly comes down to preference, but there is definitely some quality issues with the latest V2 batches. Old V2s are much better than the new ones and it sucks that BRS has this inconsistency between production batches. I have a first production 87 and love it- flips fantastically, and definitely better than the 2018 batch tanto rep I have. So I can see why you think the 87 is better than your Rep. But if you get the chance, try out a 2016/2017 V2 or a V1, I think you'll like it a lot more than your current rep.

I got a CHAB from this recent drop. Then bought a premium rep. When I got the REP, from what people say.....it got me hype. This is the gods honest truth. When I took out the rep and started flipping it I just about threw it in the trash. That is how much more I like the CHAB than the rep.
Have you ever used the benchmade customizer? I just used it to get a mini grip in green g10 and m4 steel. With a deep carry clip and a sunburst pattern on the non show side of the blade. I also blacked out all the hardware including the liners and axis lock. It’s like my new favorite benchmade.
Riley Bracelin that sounds really dope I have not done that yet I think it's awesome the Benchmade is doing that though I was thinking about an all blacked out Crooked River

The newer reps are worse in quality than the older ones before it. The newer ones have thinner liners and feel a little more flimsy than the V1 reps. Theres a reason why the V1 reps are worth more and more sought after.

They're actually cheaper new than used because of how rare they are. Follow BRS and they'll tell you when a new batch is about to hit retailers.
