I am 45 years old with very little set aside for retirement at this point. I have always been curious about the stock market and have witnessed some people who played the game right and retired early because they used the stock market. When I ask them, most said that they invested very little to start with, but their portfolio grew. I do have a significant amount of capital that is required to start up but I have no idea what strategies and direction I need to approach to help me make decent returns
I recommend to pick up and read a few books. Peter Lynch is where I was recommended to start. Learn different strategies so that you might develop your own

Honestly, investing is boring. The people who do best invest in decent low cost stock mutual funds month in and month out, year in and year out. Something like Vanguard Dividend Appreciation Index or an S&P 500 Index fund (offered by many different companies). Be sure to always have at least 6 months' worth to a year's expenses in cash.
Buy low.
I left the U.S. 8 years ago, and moved to Central America, that doesn't tax income. Lower taxes, healthier environment, and lower cost of living! America punishes savers in general, and retiree savers even more! You save you are taxed, your social security is taxed, your pension is taxed, your investments are tax, just buying something you are taxed etc.
You got that right the savers get taxed a lot.
What country is "central america" and what do you do for a living? Or are you retired?

The stock market is still one of the most potential places to invest your money, if you can manage the risk then you can take advantage of the stock market to secure your financial position and earn money.
My strategy is; buy quality companies, expect to hold no matter what, pay up but don’t over pay, keep track, sell rarely, be ready to course correct..........

How is Suze Orman still a financial adviser? She scammed so many people into her debit card business. People couldn't get their money out when they wanted to and there were huge fees that drain thr account.
