Safe seaside strolling along Carlsbad Boulevard

The City of Carlsbad is working on a number of projects along Carlsbad Boulevard to make the coast more accessible and to enhance safety for people walking, biking or driving. Recent improvements were completed at five more crosswalks on Carlsbad Boulevard.
Improvements include:
Curb extensions, which shorten the distance needed to cross and make it easier for drivers to see pedestrians
Additional flashing lights to alert drivers of people crossing
Continental-style high-visibility crosswalk markings on Carlsbad Boulevard
Green painted bicycle lanes to clearly indicate bicycle and vehicle traffic conflict
