This is one of the best programmes I've ever watched. It is an actual work of art. Every scene is a work of beauty. The handsomeness of the Pope, the backdrop of the Vatican and the entwined sinful behaviour is just incredible. The way it has been filmed and constructed is just unique and beautiful. Jude's character draws us in and keeps us at a distance, is he a bad guy or is he the most incredible Pope to have ever lived? I've laughed and I've cried and I cannot wait for more.

The beauty of the scenery, the costumes, the angles of filming, it’s almost overwhelming. The opening credits as he walks by the paintings in the background and they change ever so slightly is just brilliant! Everything is absolute perfection. It’s visually stunning eye candy, thought provoking in beauty.

I've watched it twice and and now watching it a third time, and I finally understand Lenny. That is the beauty of Paolo's work. It is so intriguing that for the first time you are just overwhelmed, the second you just look and listen (did I say this has the most amazing soundtrack) and the third you can place it all together, you are never bored, you are always fascinated. I cannot wait until Season 2, but I fear that we shall all have to wait a while, sadly. (the middle-aged pope?).

Jesus was killed because he was revolutionary and a real saint just as "the young pope" but he also was a man, with doubts and weaknesses. The show is a masterpiece of acting and photography, i personally love the soundtrack too. It's a movie for everybody ( i am not religious) and very well done.

I don't know what it is about this show/10 hour movie but it just sucks you in. The characters, the sets and the dialogue are a masterpiece. Feels like every little detail in every scene was methodically thought out and put together to make this show. The plot line is so unique that becomes inherent to this title and this title only. I don't know if I will able to find something like this to watch again. I watched this show a couple times already and everytime I find something new that I missed before. A subtle connection in dialogue and little compliments in the background. One of my favorite shows of all time. The second season I'm not sure I can say the same thing, it lacked something, and it made it feel flat. However some of the wait was worth it for the last couple episodes, when what everyone was waiting for happens.

Series 2 has taken the magnificence of Series 1 to build to a new level. It is beautiful to watch, the roles and the skill of all the actors are mesmerizing. Bring on Series 3, I could watch this forever until Lenny dies of old age.

It's a 10 hrs series, it's Paolo's subject, as his are the editing, screenplay, who does what and who says what...giving quite some leaway to a very good actor like Jude is just the right thing to do
Somehow I missed this show not having HBO until recently but everything about this to the smallest detail is stunning and funny, charmingly dark and whimsical. The soundtrack also should not be overlooked. Each track adds so much to the scene. Paola Sorrentino is masterful. His The Great Beauty has similar love of Rome, reminded me of Fellinis Nights of Cabiria.

OMG I was sure it's a HUGE effort and energy even to make a single episode...not talking about one whole season...but now I see this I can't even believe my eyes....I think there are only a few special people on earth who can create such "thing"...I mean actors,writers and directors...so clever intelligent fantastic people in this video with humor(!)...I feel so sad I have not even 0,00000000000000000001% of their knowledge in anything...but very very happy these people exist and they give us a lot...

It's somewhat strange to hear him reading his lines as Lenny Belardo, Pius XIII, and then to hear his natural voice discussing the script. This is one of my favorite shows, and I'm glad for "The New Pope," as well. Jude Law was born to play Pius XIII, and Pius XIII was destined to be portrayed by Jude Law.
seems like Paolo is a bit unconfortable with his fast english hahaha like, in the scenes here where we get to see Paolo talking in italian, he's all fast talking and more energic

Le making off montre en effet les initiatives que JL souhaite prendre et elles lui sont accordées. Sacré acteur ! J'ai adoré, je me suis prise au jeu jusque dans mes tripes, si fort que voir cet acteur dans d'autres rôles est devenu pour moi absolument décevant.
