Great video. I've been looking for an affordable power hacksaw, but everybody wants a fortune for them. Guy advertising one that is over one hundred hundred years old. He sees a valuable antique, while I see a bunch of bearings to be replaced, a motor to be rewired/replaced, frozen bolts and pins to be removed, etc., etc. Oh well, maybe some day.
When I bought mine it was very rough, only worth scrap money , I had to rebuild the bearing, it was worn so I bored it bigger to clean it up , but then the shaft was to small , so I built it up with a stick welder, quite a easy job , I’ll link you both vids 🙂 ua-cam.com/video/cH01LikvdUU/v-deo.html
@@chris-the-bodge-sculptor yeah I'd think you could wear out a section of blade when cutting small diameter items whilst rest of blade stays sharp,I really like the look of it though I'm a big fan of vintage tools always built to last.
That’s a good question, the blades like to run teeth towards the cut , but there’s a debate about that , some people say the opposite, so yes you could reverse the blade but you may loose a bit of efficiency, luckily the makers of the saw thought about the problem, so you can move the vice of the saw up and down it’s own bed , those being able to move the workpiece to a good section of blade 🙂 thanks for viewing 🙂
I will :) , i wouldn't mind the bigger version "the major" if my back was up to it saw one on ebay a while back for little money just needed the motor swapping over ,seems to put some people off ..

Quite therapeutic listening to that old Rapidor saw working away, don't you think.
yes it is , i think the only noise better would be a old hit n miss engine, love those things !
@@chris-the-bodge-sculptor Well, I certainly can't argue with that.
You could move the clamp to use a different part of the blade too
I really like powered hacksaws, they run relaibly on the side and the sound so romantic... :D
Yes ! Reminds me of old steam engines etc 🙂 thanks for viewing 🙂
Any chance you know the weight of the saw I've just purchased one and hoping I can get it in to my truck
I've never seen a saw like this before only ever seen/used a bandsaw.
Atb Steve
The Bandsaw is the superior tool, I saw a power hacksaw at school and always wanted one 🤷♂️ and I like old stuff lol , thanks for viewing 🙂

can you turn the blade round to use the other half when it,s worn out ?

Just mind your head when your fetching a bucket of coal!
funny thing ... we were hitting our heads on it most of the day lol
If you ever sell that saw. Give me a shout

I also am a fan of that saw. I restored an old one on my channel. Not as pretty as this one tho...
MG-Driver thanks , I do have motor envy though Yours is very special, good job on saving it 👍
