That's such a good complement because that's really what this is about. Two whisky lovers just drinking together and talking about it. we throw in a score and what we know.
This was bottled for the 10th Anniversary of the London Whisky Show. Very little information on the cask - although I assume it’s ex bourbon. I was able to get it at the show although it does pop up from time to time on the usual auction sites. Glad you liked it - agree that IB ardbeg is usually the way to go (when you can find it). Cheers!
I picked one of these up for just under $500 Cad a while back. I am going to bring it to the top of the next to be opened list after this review Would consider splitting the bottle if you are interested but not sure on the logistics. Cadenheads has a bunch of single cask Ardbegs distilled in the early 90's kicking around, and they are typically decently priced.
Oh do I want to try this beauty! I am a huge Ardbeg fan although of course Lagavulin is my true love!! lol! Deep Texas secret run and dirty smoke sound spectacular!! Have you guys tried the latest Ardbeg 19? It’s lovely! This one sounds fantastic! I love the punchy smoke! I have been so underwhelmed with many of the Ardbeg special releases lately. Poor ABV - too low - and not punch enough! I will take a very dirty Ardbeg any day!! Aggressive and dirty! Clean dirty soumds amazing!! Fabulous review!! Oh wow!! Vanilla tobacco leaf!!! 🍃 Yes!!! 👍
I would think any Islay fan would be impressed, specifically southern... I haven't tried the new A19 and I believe Dustin stopped buying them. Same goes for the yearly "money grab" Ardbeg's. Now the new Laphroaig Cairdeas 2024 is a different story... wow
I did debate a recent 19 as I found it for UK prices, but I've just been passing. Maybe I'll pick one up if I can get it for the 250 or less UK price next year. That's kinda my cap.
Dang sounds like winner winner chicken dinner. I always wanted to grab an old 17 or twentysomething and I’m sure they’re amazing but they’re not what they could of been at a higher ABV 💪🥃
@@teddyballgame25 At this point it's kinda just i do'nt want to help ardbeg. seems weird but the brand has kinda gone from my favorite scotch to my last favorite. And that makes me sad.
I always enjoy seeing someone enjoy their whisky the way you two have. You remind me of my brother and I when we share some great ones! Slainte!

Maybe the best new distillate Ardbeg we have tried!
Thanks Mike 🫶🏻

It is hard to enjoy this more. I'm struggling to think of a new distillate Ardbeg that surpasses it.
Agreed Mike!!! Why would Ardbeg not choose to be epic? Lately they have not been epic!
They have not. But I'm guessing the single cask series is special. Out of my tax bracket.
@@topshelfwhisky I hear you!! Cheers!! 🙂

international splitting of bottle is tricky....that's more mikes skillset.

@@topshelfwhisky Oh I love the 2024 Laphroaig Cairdeas!! Spectacular!! I am also tired of the annual Ardbeg 46% ABV rip offs!! Take good care!!

Never seen Mike this excited. Must be great. Mike just likes it dirty 😂
I´m drinking my 8yo for discussion these days.
dirtier the better
Sounds like a good one! Btw are you guys excited about laphroaig bringing back their 18yr?
We both have a bottle coming. We are planning a rare live stream for the bottle pop.... We are thrilled!
@@topshelfwhisky looking forward to the review!
@@TalkingTorah613 yeah, expect a live, a review, AND we'll compare to the old! We're that excited!
@@topshelfdustin3060 sweet, im for all of that!

Abv held those back compared to this offering. This was an Ardbeg
Have you guys tried the Ardbeg 13 Anthology?
I won’t be bothering as it’s very pricey and the first Anthology wasn’t great and especially for the price. That’s Harpy’s Tail.
We have not. It's on our radar... your thoughts?
The neck pour wasn’t disappointing. Is it $100 better than the 10 of course not, but it is better. Sweeter touch more oak
man so we got the 13 local for 150...I just can't do it. I'm not that big a white wine casks guy.
