Thank you so much, I enjoyed watching you enjoy our music 🎵
Thank you guys for amazing music!!!!
@@NLTwon God bless you 🙏🏾
Bunny is it true Randy destroyed that bass on this song. One baddest bass lines ever.
@@derrickgreenwade2261 yes that's how the song started then I helped finish it
@@bunnydebargeofficial Thank you Bunny love your musical family.
I knew you weren’t ready for those vocals.
😆😆😆😆
not at all. bless his heart 😄
🤣🤣👏🏾
Yep, I was sitting here like, "Wait till El hits them runs at the end. You bout to be shook!" 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Yeah ain’t like us lol…
No music today comes close to these classics. Enjoy!
You have to realize that this is the DeBarge family. Consequently the entire group is the presentation. The harmonies....that smooth chorus...this is a group that rivaled the Jacksons and they were from the Motown mill. They just didn't get the promotion that they deserved. Michigan groups truly rocked...back in the day. And "Bunny" DeBarge...was FINE...as well as being a great singer.
Every DeBarge song has been sampled. They were ahead of their time.
El killed the high notes but people need to put respect on Randy's name when it comes to this masterpiece 👌🏾
Listen, I’m 53 years old and I am still obsessed with DeBarge!
Grown ass man showing tears of joy we miss you Bobby Debarge showing your family how to sing❤
yesss i love him! the older generations had more soulful music tbh
Welcome to our Generation! That was Randy Debarge and El Debarge singing, but El Debarge with all the high notes. You think that's something wait until you hear their bother Bobby Debarge in the group Switch in the song "I Call Your Name" .. Amazing family...
And Bunny co wrote it with Randy. What a talented family!
i'm loving how this generation of people are appreciating and loving the music of our time.
Most people think it’s only El Debarge singing lead on this song. It’s actually Randy who sings the verses and El sang the hook and outro. Randy also played bass on this while El was on keys.
They say Randy destroyed that bass on this song. He played the bass out of that bass lol
DeBarge gets sampled A LOT!!! You think you don’t know their music but you do 🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯
I grew up on them and I can't believe how much they've been sampled. It's unbelievable!!!
Yesss, it really is insane how much they've been sampled.
What’s funny is in a documentary they said the best singer out of the whole family is actually Bobby debarge from the group switch. That group also sampled a lot, case in point I believe RJ quick
"WarrenG- i want it all" is a direct sample from this song.i grew up listening to hip hop and rap from my brother and this was one of the songs i discovered was a sample years later. About 99% of hiphop/rap. Hit songs are sampled from the 60/70s and 80s
Especially A dream.
Debarge is the greatest of all times. They were b4 there time
Imagine if DeBarde and the Bee Gee's would have collaborated...Fire!
THAT'S HOW WE USED TO JAM YUNGSTA!!!!!!!!!!! Y'all startin to see what we be talkin about!!!!!!✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿💯💯💯
It’s a falsetto. The lead singer. Interesting fact: Their father was a raging alcoholic. They suffered terribly growing up. Their story is similar to that of The Silvers in the 70s. All super talented. Their older brothers were in another successful group from the 70s called Switch.
Eldra “El” DeBarge has one of the best falsettos in the game and can still hit notes. He’s the one on the bottom left that you recognize and he was singing lead on this song. That family has been through a lot but they are crazy talented. Fun fact James DeBarge (top left) was married to Janet Jackson for a hot second.
they may only been Married a hot second as you put it...but James and Janet were Childhood Sweethearts going back to the LATE 70's. James was 14, Janet was 12.
Randy sang lead on this song. Eldra sang the hook and ad-libs. Town responded every time Eldra came in, El stole the song with his flawless falsetto.
Not to mention, Janet and Kim Fields were both pregnant at the same time and no one knows where Janet kid is (rumored she was raised by sister Rebbie) and Kim Fields daughter was raised as her sister for all these years. 😂😂😂
El gets all the credit, but people tend to forget this is a duet. The entire beginning of the song is Randy DeBarge (top center) - even the high part “You send chills up my spine…” El DeBarge comes in on “I like those stylish clothes you wear…” and El sings the super high stuff at the end.
This. They’re passing off. Watch the live Soul Train recording.
Thank you I was trying to remember who did the first verse. And El got it from his brother Bobby Debarge. I'm real ol school! I know and we didn't have social media.
Randy wrote the song and El Produced it with him based on Randy's bass riff
El Debarge... The Voice that could crack Steel!!!
De Barge; Switch; Baby Face; AL B Sure, Keith Sweat list goes on, 80's soul! 💖
It's nice to know the kids today can feel what we felt back in the 80s. I hope this inspires some young songwriters.
They’re longing for romance in music based on the reactions I see❤
That's El DeBarge singing the lead. He's at the bottom in the red and black. They're all siblings and you should check out the group Switch. Two of their brothers, Bobby and Tommy DeBarge were apart of Switch!
Yeesssss!!! Let him know!!! Switch were the originators. That whole family is super talented!!!
@@cflournoy1529 absolutely
The Debarge family is beyond talented. Every last one of them could sing they ass OFF! 💯
Actually El didn't lead this one...he is on the hook though
Randy sang the two verses.
El DeBarge kills the high notes! Check out Love Me in a Special Way. This was '84, '85, '86.
Other songs "Stay With Me", "Love Me In A Special Way", "Time Will Reveal", "All This Love"
All this love is my fav!!
Yes!!!! All of those especially Love me in a Special Way❤
A dream
My favorite Debarge song is Love me in a special way
Yes, this is before Auto-Tune! The time when you really needed to know how to sing!
You should react to Switch "I call your name" and Bunny DeBarge "A Dream" Pure Fire
"I call your name," yes indeed!
Yes Sirrrrrrr!
Heck yeah!! Loved Switch a lot more!
@@pthesmith That's the song right there, I agree!!❤️
OMG...LOVE DEBARGE. That was El DEBARGE singing those high notes.
Yessss
THIS A BOP
LISTEN TO THAT SAUCY ASS BASSLINE
Kids don’t even know. DeBarge never made a bad song
SWITCH SWITCH SWITCH there will never be a better love. It's Bobby Debarge big brother takes the lead. That falsetto the Debarges have is legendary
Also don’t forget “I Call Your Name”, IMO, their best song!
Definitely needs to hear SWITCH
@@casinolife7534 My fave is Love Over and Over Again.
Yes!!!!
yup you are absolutely right
I have watched Twon react to this song more times than I can admit., Edit (july 4th, 2024). Had to come back and watch again.
Appreciate you!!!
I literally just watched it again for about the 5th or 6th time. His reaction to this song is my favorite of all of my reactors’ videos!☮💜
I L❤️V your reactions! MAKES ME LAUGH with the greatest feeling of PURE JOY for you~Thank you for spreading the love joy & a beautiful smile 🙌
💯💯💯🎯🎯🎯
Hahahaha bro man was havin a meltdown on that Debarge 😆...I feel you bro...that jam is SICK!!!
if you loved this give a listen to them doing "Who's Holding Donna Now?", "Rhythm Of The Night", "Love Me In A Special Way", and El Debarge's solo hit "Who Is Johnny?".
Love Me In A Special Way is so amazing... in high school, i LOVED this song.
ABSOLUTELY!!! All those plus The Heart Is Not so Smart!!! 👍
Don’t forget “You Wear It Well”… such a feel good melody and track for me.
And also listen to 'Love Always' 'You Got The Love I Want' and 'Where Is My Love featuring Babyface just to name a few others.'
And Time Will Reveal.
Your reaction is priceless. I'm 70 and grew up w/DeBarge and the Jacksons. Great stuff.
To clear up the confusion: Randy DeBarge is leading here. El DeBarge sings the “I like the way you comb your hair…” part and the high notes at the end. They actually share the adlibs. If you listen closely, you can hear that Randy has a softer voice. El’s voice is higher & brighter.
Wow I always thought el lead this song....is randy the one with the stripe shirt?
@@maverick8047 Nope.
Randy is the one with the mustache.
The one in the striped shirt is Mark DeBarge.
@@EpsilonKeyXIV thanks
I love seeing younger generations appreciating our music, there’s nothing like it!
Imagine be 51, having grown up on Debarge and only learning recently that this is both El and his brother Randy singing this song. El took the "high" parts. I use quotes because it's all relative. A classic...pure/true R&B cut. Great reaction.
Me too lol
I'm the same Donald! I'm 51 and grew up listening to the iconic DeBarge!🤗💙🎶🎤🎶💙
@@nicolebrown1927 I'm 53!! I loved DeBarge too!!❤️
Your reaction to this fantastic group is priceless! 😂
"All This Love" kinda dreamy~~~
No one else suggested this?!?
Chico DeBarge - "Til Tomorrow"
💥🔥💥
This is fabulous. When I see the younger generation appreciating this music…. I can’t stop watching. 🙏🏻❤️
Gotta do “All this Love”... high notes like MAD!
Facts
!!!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
That's El Debarge naby hittin' them notes into the stratosphere baby. One of the top 5 tenors to ever do it with an effortless falsetto. If you don't know, ask ya mama and aunties!
This singer took it waaaaaaay past the required level . She is beyond compare. I have never ever heard anyone hold notes like those . That was an awesome performance
What's going to blow your mind is that this isn't a woman. It's Randy & El DeBarge passing lead vocals between them. Randy starts in the first verse, El comes in for choruses and the ad-libs near the end. Randy does the lovely high singing near the middle, El hits it out of the park with that outro.
Just when you think you've heard and seen it all..
El Debarge walks in and slays everyone within earshot of his pitch-perfect falsetto and baby faced good looks.
El wasn't the best singer in the family. Bobby blew him out of the water.
@@anthonyroy3962 Bobby had the purest falsetto in history. But I think El's overall tone is smoother - like butter...Just my opinion of course.
@@trebo12 After listening to El and Bobby, their falsetto sounds nearly identical but Bobby can just do it easier
That's Mark on that horn and Randy and El sing lead on I Like it. Randy sings first then El. They have exquisite harmony! You're taking me back to my high school days. I ran this whole CD into the ground.
El Debarge is on another level! One most underrated of '80's
The ENTIRE Debarge Family had hits after hits!! Their older brother was the lead Singer of the group Switch!! Check out Stay With Me by Debarge too. ❤️❤️❤️
One of the greatest family groups of all time! I was blessed to grow up on their music. Matter of fact, I am going to see El next week! Yes...I'm bragging!
Your momma and your grandma probably played it sometime when you were little just didn’t know great reaction 🙋🏻♀️
This grandma sure did!
I'm 63 and still listen to it.
"El Debarge - All This Love" is a must listen.
I love your reaction!!!! Debarge was fierce! You cant beat those vocals and the falcettos!!!! Omg this is real music I'm a big fan!
You got to listen to the group SWITCH, their older brother Bobby DeBerge was the lead singer. The to listen to is ( I Wanna Be Closer)
Love to see my young generation respecting the old school who paved the way…
Young man, you are hearing talented music that we grew up on. This is real music and talent. We had this 24/7 and for years of awesome music.
🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾
Biggie's One More Chance or Ashanti's Foolish both use DeBarge samples--the sample actually (Stay With Me), and they have numerous movie soundtrack credits. They also have a terrifyingly traumatic back story--centering their father, Bobby DeBarge (former co-founder, lead singer of the famous 70's soul group Switch) and also the female member, Bunny DeBarge. FYI.
The Debarge family is talented; singers, writers, producers, & those falsettos…Bobby & Eldra, Tommy too.
Lololol...welcome to the real world of music...we "old" folks were getting our jam on! Lolol
Right!! 🤣😂🤣
Lol when he said this was his grandmother’s favorite jam. 😮😳😩😂
Debarge was couple music in the 80s!! Love love love!!!
He sure do still got IT!!..❤❤❤
"I Like It" was released in August 1982 and became the band's first huge hit, peaking at number two on the R&B singles chart while crossing over to the pop singles chart, where it peaked at number 31[2] helping to make their All This Love album go gold.
40 years later, and it still sounds awesome
The two verses and the hook "you send chills up my spine" were sung by Randy DeBarge, Guy pictured in the second row in the middle. The vamp, "I like the way you comb your hair" the chorus, the bridge, and the super high notes at the end were sung by El DeBarge, The guy on the bottom left next to the girl, he also wrote the song
Randy wrote this song
@@wandamorris9554 didn't know that. I thought El wrote everything
@@RTDavis0503 they all write. Mark debarge wrote stay with me and bunny help bobby with songs on switch albums.
@@wandamorris9554 Randy wrote the bass part first and El said he was tired of hearing the bass lick over and over and came up with the melody and the rest. This is how a lot of their music came about. He had to be the one to arrange and put it together on the piano. He did the same with Mark on Stay With Me. He didn't know he could get 'credit' for writing the actual music and missed out on some song writing royalties. :) He discussed it this year on Questlove's podcast.
Real talent; no auto-tune here!!!
He shook.👍
Their brother Chico DeBarge is 🔥 too. Check his songs like “No Guarantees” featuring Joe, “Iggin Me”, “ Trouble Man”, and “ Listen to your Man”.
Lmao “he ended with THAT??? How you gon do that??!!” - my same reaction years ago when I heard it. I’m 35 and my mom raised me on amazing music - I was born when this came out but she played their music my whole life. I LOVE DeBarge… and Switch, where 2 of the DeBarge brothers were part of
They are one of the greats! Love me some them! Check out more Debarge: “All This Love”, “Love Me in A Special Way”, “Stay With Me”, & “Time Will Reveal.”
All of these, like ASAP!!
Brings back high school memories. Extremely talented family
Fun-fact. Randy DeBarge actually sings the beginning and the "Chills up my spine part" while El DeBarge sings the bridge and outro.
That's Randy Debarge starting it off...then El comes in.
I love how you just discovered one of the all-time great voices El DeBarge LOL...and DeBarge the family/group. Peep their catalog, you'll love it.
started listening to a bunch of DeBarge after seeing El perform HIghlights with Kanye on SNL. so good.
I knew what was coming and I was just waiting for El DeBarge to hit those notes. He's the one on the bottom left. Loved your reactions.
Anything DeBarge is just tooooo much, tooooooo good!
Chills ALWAYS!!🥶🥶💥💥
That's Randy singing lead and then El comes in they sound so similar
The best reaction ever
Finally an El DeBarge reaction 🤗 ❤️❤️❤️
That's El hitting those notes He takes after his Big Brother Bobby who's the lead singer of switch
Also check out DeBarge's cut called A dream. It's one of a few songs that their sister takes lead on. I think her name is Bunny. And fyi there's this group called Switch. Two of Switch's members are the older brothers of DeBarge; they are easy to spot cause they look just like the guys in DeBarge. And they have that same high tenor going on, or as we use to say The DeBarge Sound.
I did many a couple skates to this song, back in the day! Great memories! ♥️♥️♥️
DeBarge... I can't believe the falsetto 😱😱😱 Twon your reactions are great! Love the braids! ♥
Your facial expressions were priceless. That was El on the chorus and all the high notes. Mark sang the verses.
Randy, not Mark.
Randy
That's right youngster you got good taste in music young man
I listen to it every day. Been doing for years. Sometimes 10 times a day
Bruh that was our reaction too hearing that ending
80s.... such a great decade of music
I love this reaction! You are so clearly enjoying the music! I was about your age when this came out. DeBarge was IT back then.
This came out in 1982. The lead singer is the one on the bottom left that you said you remember. His name is El De Barge.
Randy and El are co-leads on this song.
Homie was speechless on that ending!!✌🏽
Mom loved this one too! She said your smile makes her heart happy.
I grew up with their music and I remember like us all hitting the note at the end acting like fools
El can still blow!!! The whole family is/was gifted but they were plagued with so many issues, from an abusive father to drugs. The Debarge's got their start when their older brothers Tommy and Bobby Debarge. Bobby was addicted to "the life", to drugs then later died from HIV. There is a movie about his life called The Bobby Debarge Story. Their group was called Switch. He then brought the rest of his siblings into it. They seemed to have a thing for the Jackson girls. Bobby dated Latoya and one of the brothers, James, which was in the group Debarge was married to Janet but their marriage was quickly annulled. I Call Your Name is my favorite song by Switch...I still listen to it today!!! ua-cam.com/video/vl2K-a5wWH0/v-deo.html
You bring me such joy with your joy! Love your reaction Twon!! I LIKE IT! 😆😉😅
Glad you enjoy it!
They were the great competitor group to the Jackson5 - and frankly were way more innovative and avant-garde ... but drugs and alcohol consumed their consummate talent. El is still a god in my books. His falsetto his timing and his utter charm are forever beguiling
I love your vibe and the beautiful way you react to the music. Music is so important because it crosses all boundaries. Listen to Charlie Pride please because he is a great country singer and has a beautiful voice.
James Debarge, the one on the top left used to be married to singer Janet Jackson. He's one of my dearest friends! Love him so much. Lead vocals were sang by Randy and El Debarge. El did the High Falsetto. This song was released in 1982.
Randy sings the lead vocals all the way through except the bridge "I like the way you comb your hair..." which is El who also sings the closing falsetto part. It's also Randy playing the iconic bass line for this song.
Your reaction was priceless...
I'm 50 yr old grumpy man.. This kid made my day.👍
Your responses awesome to these classics that many of us grew up with!
