That vapor cone as it went supersonic was amazing, being able to watch an object move faster than sound that humanity and science provided

Thanks NSF team. You guys are the best. I usually have the live feed from X and your feed on UA-cam. The combo is awesome. Love the sound too. Never gets old. If I miss the live launch, you are my go to feed, unless you don’t cover it 😢 (Vandenberg).

Have you ever seen the 4x5" oil painting titled "Challenger" by Larry Hampton? It's hanging on permanent display at the Astronauts Memorial Foundation Kennedy Space Center in the Boardroom. My brother painted it in memory of the Astronauts of the space shuttle Challenger. I wrote the poem that's on the gold plaque on the paintings frame:
    The Timeless Dream
    The timeless dream
    To reach for stars
    Ascend the heavens
    This choice is ours
    For limits breached
    We pay the price
    To know the vision
    Beyond our sight
    By Robert Hampton

Glad the launch went well. But is there any way we can stop that guy from wittering on, simply repeating the call-outs - which are all we need (want) to hear?

It's interesting to watch the upper stage shielding puff-up and beat like a heart, compared to the other time when it just inflated but didn't pulse. Also, I really miss the on-board views you use to have with the numbers at the bottom of the screen. You don't show those views much anymore.

@@ale131296 Cant post pix, but when they displayed the speed/altitude numbers along with the arc of the timeline at the bottom of the screen. They are doing it a lot less now than before.

What's going on at 1:28:20 ?? Chap says he sees the booster ignite for boostback, but the video skips a few frames and all we see from the second stage camera is the booster suddenly disappear.

Could the HSR also one day be recovered and re-used ? That has to be costly to make let alone being 10 tons of stainless steel !

    • @fosstera
      @fosstera Місяць тому +1

To do so they'd need airbags and parachutes on it so it could float in the water, adding significant mass. They're going to ditch the HSR until they can safely integrate it with the booster's overall structure

They can save money and time on manufacturing and this mission doesn't need Falcon 9's full performance to send Cygnus into low-Earth orbit
