Thank you for your wonderful cultural channel dr Barry . I read in 1908 , British writer isreal zangwil wrote stage play , title used as a metaphor of America itself: the melting pot which means diverse cultures and ethnicities come together form the rich fabric of our nation . I looked up for meaning of surnames you mentioned briefly here it’s Sutherland is a Scottish boy name that comes from the old Norse words Suoroen and land means “ southern land “ . A place name by tradition. It probably best recognized for a county in the highlands , home to chambered cairns , standing stones , other ancient remains . The name cruise has an English origin , deriving from the old English word crs, means bold or fierce . As a name , cruise reflects the characteristics of strength and courage, which were highly valued traits in medieval England. The surname weatherford was a first found in Cambridge shire where they held a family seat as lords of manor . The Saxon influence of English history diminished after the battle of Hastings in 1066 . The language of the courts was French for the next three centuries and the Norman ambience prevailed.
Last part of my research kilpatrick surname means Irish ( ulster) . Shortened Anglicized form or Gaelic mac , Giolla phadraig ( son of servant ( saint ) Patrick) ( Irish padraig) . Shell is typically used as girls name, it means “ meadow on the ledge “ . It possibly it was once a habitational name from the old English scelf, which translates “ rock “ , “ ledge “ or , “ shelf “ . I hope you like my research. Best wishes for you your dearest ones .
