  • How to do the Mount Rysy hike in one day from Zakopane. Come with me on a full on day trip from Zakopane to climb Mt Rysy, Poland's highest mountain at 2500 metres.
    It took almost 12 hours to hike from Palenica up to Morskie Oko, Czarny Staw and up to the summit of Rysy and then back down again.
    An awesome hike that takes a lot of energy but is well worth the effort.

    Before you mentioned your “secret to a healthy relationship” I had noticed in previous videos that you often take arduous hikes on your own and I was wondering why you guys are so good together. I think you’re right; a bit of time alone is always recommended.
    I also think that one of the reasons you guys are so successful together is your positive attitude and your ability to see the positives in the smallest of things. It’s infectious. It also probably one of the reasons you appear to shrug off “travel fatigue” It’s also nice to see that you just seem nice to each other. No narky, sarcastic comments to each other. Just pleasant people. Refreshing.

    Wow po Polsku is as you know also wow! ; ) indeed lots of them after watching your super hike! You know that you're at elevation when the snow/ice patches appear during high summer.
    Rysy - 2,503m Ben Nevis - 1,344m Uk highest, Zermatt, Alps - 4,634m and of course mighty Everest 8,848m (tylko..)
    Morskie Oko 1,395m, 50.8m max depth.
    We're now much looking forward to the Everest vlog haha! Should be a little quieter at the summit, odd blizzard, nothing too extreme : )
    Many-thanks for sharing this great achievement - I shall no doubt watch again, that pesky (mucha) fly midway and your foot spa moment was funny. Fresh feet ending with an even fresher piwo!!!! i nazdrowie.

      Dziękuję Ed. I struggle with a lot of name pronunciation. Did i pronounce Rysy correctly?
      I like the fact it has the feel of a high altitude mountain but without the horrible effects on the body at high altitude. I've been above 6000 metres and it's tough up there!
      Absolutely stunning scenery and I loved all the hikes I did in the Tatra, despite the crowds. A lot less on Kościelec which I'll post soon.

      Hi there. All I know is that people were climbing from both sides when I did it at the beginning of July. I'm really not sure about the middle of May but it is always best to check on conditions before you go as it can be very changeable. Best of luck. 👍 ~ Lee

      Hi. We didn't ever fly to Krakow but there is useful information about the airport bus to Krakow here... www.krakowairport.pl/en/passenger/transport-en/directions/from-to-krakow-airport/public-buses-en
      There are plenty of buses from Krakow to Zakopane. We took the Majer bus and feature it at the start of this video...

    was it busy due to the weekend? Or was it a regular day traffic?

    • @FrugalTravellers
      @FrugalTravellers  2 роки тому +1

      I'd say it was busy because it was a Sunday, plus the weather was perfect for a climb in the mountains. Also this was one of the first weeks open after months of strict Covid lockdowns in Poland so everyone was desperate to get out back into nature.

    You mentioned about water and not taking enough of it with you. U can refill bottle from the streams coming down.

    • @FrugalTravellers
      @FrugalTravellers  2 роки тому +2

      Thank you. I did refill higher up but was unsure of the quality lower down. Usually carry a filter and steripen to treat stream water. It got so hot on that day. What a beautiful place. 😁

      @@kb-uh9rq Thanks. A filter and UV pen is very useful once you get downstream from people and livestock to keep the water safe to drink. Hope you have a great trek from the Slovakia side. It looked beautiful over there. We loved our visit to Latvia too! 👍

    Was the climb difficult? Does it require special preparation?

    • @FrugalTravellers
      @FrugalTravellers  3 роки тому +1

      It was a physical challenge for me as I walked for about 11 hours in total. It isn't a technical climb so doesn't need any special preparation other than some fitness. It's a great climb. Hope you enjoy it.

    how much scarier (in terms of heights fear and being dangerous due to falling possibility) was the last stretch with the chains compared to the middle part of the mountain?

    • @FrugalTravellers
      @FrugalTravellers  2 роки тому

      That last section is definitely the most challenging but not too scary really. There were plenty of people managing it, young and old. Probably the riskiest part is walking across the snowy sections without crampons as they are really slippy. It's easy to just turn back if you have any concerns.

    • @basedpatriotLT
      @basedpatriotLT 2 роки тому

      @@FrugalTravellers what about the particular small section of the chains (i read about) where there is nothing but the cliff down and if you slip, you can literraly fall down? Maybe you remember this part?
      Ps: what is your general level of fear of heights? 0/10 or do you have at least some?

      Yes, a lot of people were taking that hike very casually. Some had helmets on which was sensible as loose rocks would occasionally fall on people below when people were scrambling up the rocks. Accidents do happen up there.
