  • Living in Nebraska it's either feast or famine with the fluffy white stuff and was never a problem for my wife and I to shovel the driveway.
    This last spring my wife was diagnosed with acute arthritis and can no longer help, so this December (2012) I decided to order a new two-stage snow blower.
    After some serious research I decided to order a Ariens ST24LE, 2 Stage (model #921031) 24" Deluxe Snow Blower from Snow Blower Direct. This is one of the few companies left still making snow blowers in the U.S. but unfortunately the Briggs & Stratton engine is now made in China:( You can certainly buy a cheaper blower from a big box store but for a few dollars more you get a professional quality machine with no plastic parts and a 3 year warranty from a company that's been in the snow blower business for 50 plus years and still offer parts on all their blowers!
    It arrived a week later in a big create and took about an hour to assemble... now all I needed was snow!
    Fast Forward 5 weeks...........
    Well it finally snowed! The above video shows my new Ariens Snow Blower first cold start, belt break-in and trying it out on a few inches of snow.
    Overall I really like this beast but it needs some serious snow to make it happy. 3" of snow really isn't enough to test this blower out but did give me a good chance to start the engine break-in...
    I will update this information when we get a good amount of snow so I can put the Ariens Deluxe 24" Snow Blower through it's paces!

    My old Arien 24" is almost 36 yrs old and still runs very well, except for a few bumps and bruises over the years. It starts after the first or second crank most of the time! :)
    Great machine!

      wow i have an almost new toro one auger and it dosent start till about the sixth pull but then you have to change the chock and it dies down and yoyu have to start it again another 6 pulls and its clogged the oil filter so it dies unless you prime it while running

      I am very pleased with this old Arien. Still easy to start. Sounds rough but works well. I hope it will last me for many more years because I hear that the new ones aren`t built the same as they use to be.

      Ron Rivet true i just cleaned allthe pipes on my toro and boy does it improve if you really want it to sound better take it to the mower shop or a place that will give it a full clean or tune up it will sound a lot better and i only leaned the filter it runs 2wice as fast now throws the snow a lot farther and heavier loads

    I've had a lot of viewers ask what the white things are on the front of the blower and they are indeed homemade skid shoes. When I bought the blower I also tried to buy the skid shoes but the company that made them were out so I made my own. I replaced the homemade ones with ARMORskids and love them!

    Great video, thanks for sharing. I just purchased the same machine (2014 model). Did you have to adjust the Traction Control Cable when assembling your unit? Mine is pretty loose and I'm having a heck of a time tightening up the slack with the jam nut. Any suggestions?

    Are those longer shoes something you added? Mine only came with the metal shoes.

    I'm actually looking at the compact 20" model mainly because of size and storage. I simply do not have space for a truly large two stage snow blower in the shed, and I refuse to store outdoor equipment in my garage. With that being said I have noticed a couple things with the Ariens two stage snow blowers... they don't seem to pick up all the snow on the driveway? Is this because the snow blower isn't lowered enough? Seems like as far as cleaning a single stages does a much better job of this because it's actually touching the ground, but will suffer with anything wet/heavy.How are you liking this unit after a couple years of use? Where I live we get about 24-30" of snow a year. DC/NOVA area... so not a lot, but when we do get snow and it's bad... it's a lot..lol

      A single stage blower will never move the amount of snow that a two stage can... on the other hand a two stage will never get your driveway as clean as a single stage blower just because of its design.
      How do I like my two stage snow blower? When we have a big snow I love it! but I can honestly say that I use my single stage blower 85 to 90% of the time. I only pull the big guy out when we have 15 plus inches of snow... and that hasn't been very often. In the four years that I've owned the Ariens I've only used it maybe 4 times (:O but it has started every time and I have never had a problem with it... yet.

      Thank you for the honest review and feedback! That helps greatly. If I had space for two snow blowers I think I'd do the same as you and have both.
      If you don't mind me asking which single stage do you have?
      Thanks!

      I bought a Toro CCR 2000 Power Curve used off of Craigslist around the same time I bought the Ariens, for a few hundred dollars, . It's a older model but does a superb job at removing the snow.. If we get a big snow, I will clear the drive first with the Ariens then go back and clean the thin layer of snow off with the Toro. This leaves the driveway almost dry when I'm done.

    what kind of gas do you use regular or super ? someone at home depot told me to use super octane gas is it better or is it all the same ?

    • @NeCubFlyer
      @NeCubFlyer  4 роки тому

      I use high octane gas with no Ethanol and add a Sta-Bil additive. Ethanol has alcohol in it which will degrade in very short order and you may have issues with the alcohol eating the fuel lines, o-rings and gaskets.

    What are those white things in between the skid shoes and the auger housing?

    • @tmotorman
      @tmotorman 5 років тому

      I was wondering that too. Looks like homemade skids. Looks like they would work good for going over sidewalk joints. Wonder why he didn't mention them?

    how come u didnt get a bigger one?

    • @NeCubFlyer
      @NeCubFlyer  7 років тому

      If I had the room in my garage I would of definitely bought a bigger blower! As it is. this thing takes up a lot of floor space.

      the folding arms make a big difference?

    • @NeCubFlyer
      @NeCubFlyer  7 років тому

      There's no easy way to fold the handles on this model without undoing a few bolts and cables... it's the width of the blower that hurt me as far as space goes in my garage.

    hows the auto turn ffeature work for you

    • @NeCubFlyer
      @NeCubFlyer  7 років тому

      This model doesn't have the auto turn. When i was doing my research on the Ariens it seemed the auto turn didn't work so good (still in it's infancy) but the new ones seem to work much better. If I were to purchase again I would buy one with that feature.
