Great video! I agree with you on the stickers. I agree with you on the spidey one also. Solo appearance should matter. Loved seeing yout Kobes and all the cards you shared.
that is my Nightcrawler they used in the magazine. thats cool! Glad to see Marvel getting some love. Also Justin if you are reading this, that Terrabusi Wolverine you ripped for me got a 2 lol. Pack Fresh, well centered , 2 ! haha
Great episode. Dad and I were lucky enough to pick up a complete box of unopened 66 donruss marvel a couple years ago. I still don’t think it gets the recognition it deserves.
14:19 of course you know I love this card and I agree that it is the rookie “card!” But we can’t ignore the sticker that came out with the same image a year prior. And since this article is also showcasing stickers as the rookie cards… Why do you think they missed the 1988 sticker for this that has the same image on it? Both of course, are extremely significant . One happens to be an actual card. But the sticker did come first.
I found my old card folder - with 1995 Marvel Flair Annual set in almost mint condition. Didn't realize I still had it and I have every insert for the set as well. I am only missing 3 base cards which I can pick up for a few dollars. Chalk that up as a win! Thinking about getting all the inserts graded as they are holo's/chromes etc.
Love the video and the conversation/debate! While I don't mind the rookie card term, I do think "first appearance" makes more sense for our hobby. Also like the idea of "debut year" for a character to better align with how athletes can have multiple rookie cards. And I'm also on the fence with regards to stickers, so I tend to split them out, like "rookie sticker" and "rookie card" as different things.
Gotta be some ‘rookies’ in the 1979 FKS Hulk & Wimpy sets? There is also a sticker albeit not exactly trading card size from the 1968 issue of Fantastic comic which has Hawkeye, Dr. Strange, Cyclops & Thor on so that could be first Hawkeye & Cyclops.
Great video! IMO all the 1966 cards are rookies, and the lowest numbered would be the first appearance. Also it doesn't really matter, it's what you value and enjoy.
I struggle with the whole idea of people collecting rookie cards of comic book characters. 😂 Besides that I am okay with stickers being grouped with cards because stickers are more common outside of USA as a form of collecting.
I just bought 2022 Spider-Man metal hobby box and 3 blasters. From what I’ve scene they look amazing and also retain and carry a great value on a lot of the cards. They seem to be up there with the bests of marvel sets.
I’m not sure that everyone would agree with that. Spidey Metal has some great high-end cards, and Spidey Metal has some great selections for characters like denim but the quality of the cards was not great and did not grade well and some of the boxes were loaded with it and others were missing hits. Very difficult qc. Five cases of the product and you can see the results on the videos on my channel. Also one of the most valuable cards I’ve ever sold came out of Spider-Man Metal
@@SpideyHits what would be the set you would start with if you were starting right now? Just curious if you ever thought about that or a how to start collecting video for beggars especially in this kind of down market .
@@Thetruth-tc3nu1992 Marvel Masterpieces if you want to go retro. Marvel Platinum if you want modern.. my thoughts at least.. (I really like 1992 Marvel Universe too)
I consider purpose: stickers and card games (Top Trumps) aren't meant to be traded, hence they aren't 'trading' cards even if decades later they are being 'traded'. I guess it comes down to 'first appearance on a trading card' vs 'first appearance' (which will nearly always be a comic book anyways).
The word is really efficient and people understand what it means instantly and I think that’s one reason but yes, trading cards have a much larger collecting community and sports therefore using their lingo is something that people want to push.
I really enjoy your channel, after watching a few videos I went to the garage and found my binder of marvel cards I had back in the 90s. I have learned a lot from your videos. I collect comics but am now going to look in to getting some more cards. Looking forward to your next video. Rick 😎✌️
Hilarious to me that 87 MU still doesn’t get a mention despite it being well established in sports that any “rookie” is a card, not a sticker, meaning 87 MU is loaded with rookie cards or first appearance cards including Magneto, Prof X, Magik etc
Yeah I was just about to correct my comment - I meant in the guide they don’t mention it, which is funny to me given the amount of sets they do mention. I love that you’ve talked about it in the video though, makes me feel you should’ve been tapped to put this rookie “guide” together. I personally would take the Magik card over the sticker any day. Thanks for the info though, was a good watch.
I’m glad PSA is creating awareness for Marvel cards but I agree that there’s a lot of first appearance nuances they missed. I’d also prefer the Magik card over the sticker & the Miles Rittenhouse over the UD base card. Ultimately, the more options the better. We don’t all have to collect the same way. That’s the beauty of the hobby.
Interesting book you got your hands on there.. Great show you put together here, relevant and informative.. thanks Spidey Hits!
You are welcome and thanks swish

Your a wealth of information, and was wondering do you happen to know when Moonknight First on card appearance might be or rookie card? Thank you.
Great content as always!
Thanks so much!
Awesome video, but when was this psa issue released?
It’s the most recent issue.

Valid points
I agree 1st appearance sounds more appropriate for Marvel Cards, seams like they want to push Marvel towards the sports cards market.
The word is really efficient and people understand what it means instantly and I think that’s one reason but yes, trading cards have a much larger collecting community and sports therefore using their lingo is something that people want to push.
I want one for DC, the 93 Topps Harley Quinn sells very well
I don’t collect DC cards but I bet PSA comes out with that article once Upper Deck rolls out their DC releases.
Does PSA sell that first appearances book? that was pretty cool
To get the magazine, you have to be a member and they send one out monthly.
But you can grab one off of eBay if you are not a member

Totally agree. What’s your pick for Miles Morales first appearance rookie card?
I’d go with the Marvel Greatest Heroes insert you showed but I’m also a fan of the Miles micromotion from Beginnings which also released in 2012.

PSA, if first appearance is on a stamp does that make it a rookie card? Stickers gtfo
I’m kind of with you on that
