Craftsman torque wrench - ratchet mechanism stuck - cleaning/regreasing

Edit - meant to say some torque wrenches only MEASURE in one direction. Sorry for any confusion!
How to disassemble and reassemble an older Craftsman torque wrench ratchet end to clean out and regrease. The grease can harden over time and the ratchet will not be able to function. Cleaning the assembly and regreasing can bring it back to life.

SWEET!! Watched way too many Sears/Craftsman torque wrench videos before I found yours. Like yours, mine sort of just stopped working - after sitting in the toolbox, undisturbed for probably a decade. I took it apart but couldn't understand why it wasn't working when I put it back together, but I finally watched your video, then washed mine, applied fresh grease, straighted the wire spring (it had deformed a bit), and reassembled, and now it works like new again!

Also - reminder to all owners of all types of torque wrenches, always store them zeroed-out (No torque). Otherwise, they're under tension and will wear out/go out of calibration.

My old Craftsman had the same issue. I was able to watch your video and completely restore it. I did not want to get rid of it as it was a quality tool and was a gift from my grandfather. Thankfully it works like new and will give me and my son many more years of service. Thank you!
