I also think the songs on that album were better than those on "Heaven on Earth" or "Belinda", even though there is not one that I love more than Circle in the Sand. The overall quality is just better.
I still listen to this CD on a regular basis 20 years later. This track is the standout song. And as all you others agree, the viiolin solos, specifically at 4 minutes in is the icing on an already delicious cake.

I'm guessing this tune sings her soldier boyfriend died and never sees him again. It's a saddest thing to happen. I'm remembering my ex, which was 25 years ago. Those days in the 90's, we still haven't got that mobility of a cellphone. I was touring Europe with my parents. Back home at my country, my city, my ex met an bad accident. Crashing his motorcycle under a 72 feet long trailer truck. It was an instant death. I didn't knew at all. We was touring for 3 weeks over Europe. By the time I returned, I was been informed by his buddies. He had long been cremated. I didn't got to say any of my last word to him ... It was harsh. It tores me down, it blasted my heart. I took years to gets over it. The only way was, I went over sea to pursued my studies at university to forgets it all in my city, to forgets every corners we had went and all the memories. Somehow, I totally undertook, when someone mentioned they had lost their love ones, can be a boyfriend, a girlfriend, a fiance, a husband, a wife, a son, a daughter ... That pain is beyond any words in this world you can find to defines it. And strangely sometimes, that word of "my deepest condolences" is something hate to hears the most. It ain't that simple by just condolences. I think it's only through those personally had been through, then will completely understand that sort of pain.
Dude... that is all kinds of disturbing. The dichotomy of this song is that its melody is so happy and inspirational and beautiful and its lyrics are so sad. For Chrissakes, it's about a war widow remembering her dead husband! And someone wanted this played at a WEDDING? Of course, this doesn't make it any less of a fantastic song. Simply beautiful. Makes you happy and sad at the same time. How many songs can do that?
