    Brilliant! Thanks for this. I have a 2004 S60 D5....looks like the same layout as this but cant find the MAP sensor. Iv had codes for both MAF and MAP. Now corrected the MAF...just the MAP to do....can you help?

      Hi -Glad it helped! The MAP sensor position depends on whether your s60 has the euro3 or euro4 engine. E3, MAP sensor is in the top of the manifold next to the oil filler cap. E4, it is hidden. Follow the rubber boost pipe from the manifold down and right… past the metal junction where the EGR cooler feeds back… on and round towards the left headlight. The sensor is on top of the pipe in behind the bumper as I recall… I must admit to being a little jealous by the way… I miss my 04 S60 - particularly the exhaust note when you boot it 😂

      @@bigtalltim I’m missing that too! Hence the sensor cleaning/change. Managed to find it….thank you.
      It’s just to the left of the near side headlight, buried further down but the screw is badly corroded.
      Will have to be careful trying to get that off!

      If the rusty torx bit tears out, you may be able to recover it with a blast of penetrating oil and by tapping in a slightly larger Allen key - it won’t be in with any great force anyway. good luck!!

      I very much doubt you will be able to get a new “official Volvo” bolt - Im afraid I don’t have a product code for it…it will be a metric thread, probably a 4mm… any of similar length should do

    I have fault bad emisions and car runs in limp mode, could map sensor can fix that? Or it's egr valve?

    • @bigtalltim
      @bigtalltim  4 місяці тому +1

      You really need to read the trouble code - it is most likely map sensor, maf sensor, or a sticky egr valve

    How is the car running now? You didnt change it to the same manufacturer right?

    • @bigtalltim
      @bigtalltim  6 місяців тому +1

      Running nicely - no warning lights or messages… only a matter of time before something goes wrong!! I’m not sure to be honest on the make of the part - I am sure though that it was one aftermarket part replacing another; with things like this I don’t think it matters too much whether you go OEM or aftermarket…

      Yeah ok good to know that it is still running great. I wanna know whereabout is your MAF reading? Mine is 14.33 g/sec, and im not fully sure if this way too high or just normal, in my opinion is way to high.

    • @bigtalltim
      @bigtalltim  6 місяців тому

      Depends very much on what the engine is doing… at idle you should be somewhere between 3 and 7 g/sec… at 2500 revs, somewhere between 15 and 25 - all of course dependent on the size of your engine.

      @@bigtalltim its a v70 2.4D 2010

    • @bigtalltim
      @bigtalltim  6 місяців тому +1

      Yep - in those ranges for idle and 2500 revs is about right for that engine. If you are getting 14 plus at idle, then it would be high… if at 2500 revs it would be low - what was it at when you recorded 14.33?

    what were the symptoms of a broken MAF ?

    • @bigtalltim
      @bigtalltim  Рік тому +2

      Hi Mat! There is a specific Diagnostic Trouble Code in the engine module - limp mode is the main physical symptom

    • @MatPL32

      @@bigtalltimIs it possible that the engine smokes and does not run smoothly?

    • @bigtalltim
      @bigtalltim  Рік тому

      Not really… the engine management system uses the maf (mass of air flow) sensor to make sure that the balance of air to fuel is correct… it sounds more like you have dirty/blocked injectors… if the fuel is not sprayed in a fine enough mist, it may only partially burn
