Hi Dan, thanks so much for watching 💙 I'm glad my video has given you some ideas! It's awesome that you've moved into your Doblo - I might have to pick your brain on suitable park up spots in Devon as I'm headed down that way to see family in a couple of weeks (and will inevitably become restless if I stay in one spot too long) ☺️
@@SilvaontheRoad Hello Silva thanks for replying to my comment :). I'm spending a lot of time at the moment on Exmoor which kind of straddles the border between Somerset and Devon. I can always find somewhere to stop on the moor and in terms of shopping etc there is Barnstaple, Minehead and Tiverton. Devon is a bit different, but there are lots of areas around "Ivybridge" and "Ashburton" with quiet places. Also if you head to Dartmoor you'll find that wild camping is allowed and permitted in a lot of areas, you'll find a map online with those areas shaded. The advantage with Dartmoor is that it can be easily reached from any direction on either the A38 or the A30 which goes over the top of Dartmoor and then through "Okehampton" and "Tavistock". Feel free to give me a message on here if you want some further help as depending on which part of Devon you'll be going to there might be some better areas. Hope you have a good time and stay safe! Dan :D
Thanks Dan, this is great info 😁 I lived in Plymouth for 12 years and worked across the area so know it well but not from a vanlife perspective! I always headed to Scotland for my van adventures 😂 Good to know about the online map for Dartmoor - I've been wondering what areas I could stay in there. My parents live in the South Hams and I have lots of friends in Plymouth so I'm usually somewhere along the south coast when I'm down, but might stick around for some exploring as it's usually a fair bit milder than Scotland in the middle of winter 🥶😂
@@SilvaontheRoad Wow that is quite a coincidence, I lived in Paignton since 2000 and only recently moved here to Exmoor so am very familiar with Torbay, Totnes and the South Hams. There's some lovely walks along the coast especially in Berry Head in Brixham as am sure you know. Plus there's some good holiday parks which are open all year round so if you want a "night of luxury" with a shower in the morning and electric hookup you'll have no problem finding one open even this time of year. If from Dartmouth you go through Stoke Fleming and onwards to Slaptop there's a stunning car park which runs right along the beach and the views are beautiful. The advantage doing it this time of year is that you'll have lots of places to choose from to park up and you'll be on your own as only the real hardy ones like us lot here on YT do this in the winter haha (maybe that should also include the line "crazy enough to" haha). I am thinking about heading to the Lake District soon as it's somewhere I've always wanted to visit. I hope you have a great time Kiki and keep yourself safe. All the best, Dan :)
Thank-you. So many great ideas in there. I'm at the planning phase at the moment, not planning to live full time in mine, but looking to have something I can drive regularly and use instead of hotels &b&bs. Great inspiration.
Hi Nick, thanks for watching! Glad it's given you some inspiration 😄 A camper is a great way to have lots of little breaks in without needing to worry about accommodation - pure freedom! Good luck with your build.
Very inspiring, just bought a second hand SUV intending to turn it into a micro camper. No modification, just using the space I have in the best possible way. Lots of good tips here. Thank you and all the best!❣️
Wow, you have made so much storage space inside there. So well thought out. Like I've said before, amazing how much space you can design and make for these small vans. Brilliant vlog 👌
You are amazing that you live in your van. I have just bought a berlingo and spent a week in it its been brilliant, but will need a heater for when it gets cold. I wont be living in it but I love to camp and go wild swimming. I wish I had buttons to open the back door will have to look into that for the future. I love my little van so much I took a friend to a retreat in Glastonbury we had such a laugh. I have called her Avalon or Ava for short as we spent out first trip in the Isle of Avalon!!! Lovely video. I will be watching more of your videos!! much love xx
Hi Aria, thanks so much for watching 💕 so awesome you have Ava 😄 the heater really is great for chilly evenings, I don't use it overnight but like going to bed all warm and toasty and being able to turn it on in the morning to help me get up! And the buttons are amazing - I use them so much ☺️ I think there's probably a video somewhere where someone installs some on a Berlingo if you want to do them for yours.
A very neat presentation of a small home. I have the same freedom ahead of me and I'm building a Peugeot Partner van. Diesel 1.5l. You've got a lot of stuff on board. Question: Does the cable come directly from the solar panel to the 400W power source, without an intermediate box? The journey continues, my friend. Greetings from Helsinki, Finland ⛄ 🇫🇮
That’s a great van build, how are you finding full time living? I’m thinking of it, one day. Was it the rise of costs to a sticks n bricks place that made u think of van life?
I have converted my Vauxhall Combo. I believe the 'Jackery' is a great inverter power pack for all electrical needs. The 100 Watt solar panel can be displayed across the dashboard.
Oh I bet a Combo makes a good camper! Yeah I hear great things about Jackery but I don't think they had a UK version out when I was sorting out power - plus I do like having my solar panels on the go all the time, charges my battery pack up without me noticing ☺️ I have 60W of solar on the roof now so that makes a big difference!
@@SilvaontheRoad Ive been using a handful of 12000mAh that a charge up from a friend's garage across a multiple plug adapter to charge them up fast. I can sit in a weatherspoons with a 99p refillable coffee all morning charging them up too. They charge my phone and laptop for upto a week depending on how much I use them. I will get the Jackery but not ready to part with the 700 pounds just yet.
That's great - are you living in your van full time? I made use of friends for charging stuff a lot in the winter months, especially because cafes and stuff weren't open! Yeah the initial spend on bigger battery power is a bit of a shock to the bank balance 💸💸💸
@@SilvaontheRoad It's designed around me working and travelling. Parked SORN because of the previous lockdown on a friend's drive and I do use it ahead of me using it full time to make sure I got everything I need. Currently fixing up a Vespa and gathered all the correct camping gear to take with me. The whole project is expensive but I expect I will be able to get it back when I start saving.
Hi Ellen, thanks for watching 💕 I will add this to my list of things to cover! I have the next couple of videos planned already but hang tight and I'll get to this stuff soon 😁
Okey well that was the system that I was trying to explane too you !!! Because I was a International truckdriver before and in the cold winter that diesel heather was fantastic !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wonderful video! I love the plastic rain shields. I've been trying to find similar plastic but have no idea what to search for. I keep finding plastic that's too thick or too thin. Do you remember where you found yours? Thanks
I can tell you it works great and you'll never be cold unless you run out of fuel. But it doesn't use mutch fuel perhaps 2 liters diesel in 24 hours !!! And then it will be atleast 18 centigreads what is perfect for sleeping in !!!!!
Yeah, I keep my fuel tank topped up in the winter so I don't have to worry about running out, I think the battery that powers it is more likely to run out first 🤣 it certainly makes it toasty warm in Silva 😁
Hi I'm hoping to do the same very soon I'm currently saving up for my Berlingo, but I wonder if you could tell me the internal length from the boot to the back of the passenger seat if the passenger seat is pushed all the way forward and what is the width I don't know just point. I'm sorry if you've already described this in another video thanks very much
Hey, thanks for watching 💙 I did wonder if I needed some further out shots but sort of forgot to take them when I was filming this! Hopefully you can get a sense of the setup from this 😄
Hi Sarah, my old one was a 2004 multispace so yeah probably the same model - I don't recall any major engine issues, just a slightly temperamental battery 😂 I definitely had some work done on it a few times but can't remember that far back to think what it was! The guy that bought it from me was still driving it last year so I think it's still going 😯 Hope yours isn't causing you problems 🤞🏻
Thanks for watching 😀 This was my second Berlingo and a 2016 one - but after 14 months living in it I upgraded to a SWB Renault Trafic for a wee bit more space!
Thanks Linda! I haven't really travelled much yet, I usually stay in Scotland but I do head down to England sometimes... Hopefully more travel ahead later this year! I do a few things for work, including freelance photography and I have an Etsy store 😁
Thanks John! I just have an 'emergency' toilet that pops up / folds down - I talk about it in more detail in my van life essentials video: ua-cam.com/video/kXblHSpqCd4/v-deo.html
Hello, I also have a Berlingo camper and I am thinking about adding a diesel heater for winter excursions , do you find you need the heater in such a small van ?
Hi William, I think it really depends on what you're using the van for and how tolerant you are of the cold! If it's just the odd night or two then probably not, though the van will generally reach whatever the outside temp is overnight. I'm fine when I'm in bed under my winter duvet with thermals and hot water bottles, I used to use my heater more for the evenings when sitting in the van is super chilly but I didn't want to get into bed at 6! That and mornings... it's nice to take the chill off before getting out of bed! Having said that my heater wasn't working for a good chunk of last winter and I survived! It just wasn't always fun and staying warm was a big focus of my day ☺️
@@SilvaontheRoad Citroen Dispatch so a little bigger but still small, its defo all about the planning to use every bit of space as you have. I have just found your channel so will be binge watching. Nice tour loads of good idea's, just made my fiat doblo carrier into a micro camper, do i need to change my car insurance if so what insurance have you got. thanks..
Thanks Jackie! How's it going with your Doblo camper? Yeah, certainly for living in a van full time you need different insurance, for part time you'd probably need to tell your insurance company and see if they'll cover it. I'm with Adrian Flux as they seem to be the only company that's willing to cover full-timers in a self converted camper 😯☺️
@@SilvaontheRoad Thank you for the reply I'm part-time so I will give my insurance a ring. The camper is great seeing loads of ideas and keep on changing the layout thank god I didn't fix the fittings :)
Hope they're good with the insurance 👍🏻 usually they just need to know about modifications. That's great that you didn't fix stuff so you can try out different layouts - I find you only figure out what works for you when you start using it!
Tetris skills abound! Love your little camper... lots of ideas for my new project!! Marmite - definite essential ;)) Thanks for sharing your mini home x
I have a Berlingo too, with a single conversion from Chapel Motorhomes. You have so many of the same things in your van as I do! And yay for Marmite! I was wondering if I could live full time in mine and you’ve convinced me it’s possible. I’d love to know more about how you insulated it as mine doesn’t have any and gets cold really quickly, especially as I don’t have a heater until I’m on an EHU.
Oh I've seen pictures of their conversions and they look great! I pulled off most of my headlining to stuff insulation underneath. It was a bit of a rush before moving in so I didn't have time to film it but it was quite stressful trying not to let the headlining bend too much 🙈🤣 I don't know how much of a difference it makes - it's just my roof that I've done, and when it's really cold the van still ends up cold after a while! It definitely makes a difference from cold rain on the roof and also reduces the sound from that, which I appreciate when the weather is being typically Scottish 😂
@@SilvaontheRoad cool that's what I thought I only need to charge up phn and gopro battery's so don't think apart from my small solar panel that there's much point putting anything else in at all .
Thank you 💙 yeah, normal car / van insurance doesn't cover living in it full time so I had to get a specialist one - I'm with Adrian Flux and I think most people with self built campers go with them as they seem to be the only company that will insure us!
Thanks 😄 I don't use a particular incense, just whatever cones I find that I like the smell of 😂 there's probably some that work better than others but I haven't really experimented!
Hi, thanks for watching and welcome to my channel💙 do you have the Berlingo with all the amazing storage and a sun roof? I kinda miss those features! I used to watch the stars from my bed in my first Berlingo - great in the summer but not so much in the winter when the condensation drips on your face 🤣
Hi Mel, thanks for watching 😄 If I'm tucked away in the woods I mostly use my shovel and bag my toilet paper (I use compostable dog poo bags for this - and then bin it). I also use public toilets when possible! I do have an emergency toilet. I've only used it a couple of times but good to have in places where it's not possible to dig a hole! It's from Carplife - it folds down so doesn't take up too much space when under the bed. My mum bought it for me as she was worried about me not having one when I moved into the van in lockdown!! 😂
The really important thing is not the things you carry (they are what we all have) ... The important thing is the arrangement of the furniture, which is what you dont show...
I actually found it really useful to see what people have in their vans and how they store it all when I was looking into this way of life, which is why I shared how I do things! There's not much more to the 'furniture' than you see here, I'm still planning to do a video of how the middle seat and bed set up works but that's not been possible yet.
It's come from years of experience living out of suitcases for weeks on end! Maybe that should be my next business venture... advising other van dwellers on storage and packing 😂 I would be happy to help!

I always headed to Scotland for my van adventures 😂
Good to know about the online map for Dartmoor - I've been wondering what areas I could stay in there.
Thanks for watching 💙 that sounds great, with an SUV you'll be able to handle some good bumpy tracks too... You'll be sorted for exciting adventures!
Researching possible conversion and discovered your channel. Lots of inspiration thanks 👍
Thanks for watching Paul! Always happy to inspire, especially for a fellow O'Malley 😂
@@SilvaontheRoad wow you are an O'Malley too?
I certainly am! 😁
Insulation,dump,cook, sleep, 1911.
Wow, you have made so much storage space inside there. So well thought out. Like I've said before, amazing how much space you can design and make for these small vans. Brilliant vlog 👌
Thanks so much 💕 Yeah I had a lot of stuff I wanted to fit so had to make it work 😂
It's like the tardis, brilliant video
Thanks! I certainly pack a lot in 🤣
I love your wild washed in the river look😘
Thanks ☺️
Teabags and gin, great combination, awesome camper…
Thanks so much! 💙
all a person needs in life
😁
I think those flukes mean that you're very intuitive! I also love your neat organization. Inspiring!
I like that way of looking at it! Thanks so much for watching 💙
Bravo! Makes me want to go rip out the seats in my SUV. Superb organization and great aesthetics, too!
Thanks so much for watching and your lovely comments! SUVs can make great campers 😂
Wow love how much stuff in Silvia ? Fair play to you
I certainly do squeeze a lot in 🤣
This is a really cool way you have it set up! Watching from the Bluegrass state! -Marshall 🎸
Thanks so much 💕 (and I've just learnt something because I had to look up which state that is! I haven't been to America 😯)
@@SilvaontheRoad Yay! I was hoping you might do that! 😊 We also make a lot of Bourbon here! I forgot though, where are you based?
I'm based in Scotland 😄🏴 we do whisky over here but also lots of gin... I'm a fan of the gin 😂
Love your video. Iv just got a citroen berlingo too. How did your heater please?
Yeah it's worth trying things out before going full time! I find life on the road a lot cheaper than when I had rent and a lot more bills to pay 👍🏻
Please may you do a video of the boring things (sort of insurance needed for car camper conversion, where you are or aren't allowed to park ect)
Hi Ellen, thanks for watching 💕 I will add this to my list of things to cover! I have the next couple of videos planned already but hang tight and I'll get to this stuff soon 😁
Okey well that was the system that I was trying to explane too you !!! Because I was a International truckdriver before and in the cold winter
that diesel heather was fantastic !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great minds then ☺️ the heater is great, not sure how I'd have got through the below freezing winter nights (or days!) without it!!
I have a berlingo just like yours 👍😊
Awesome 😁
Just the essentials - “a little gin bottle” & “marmite”!! 🤣 Your essentials are eerily similar to mine 🧡🌈
Great video 👌🏽
Great minds 💙 I would like to take credit for the marmite side of your essentials 😄
It looks verry nice, but I hope it will be nice in the cold winter time !!!!!!
Thanks! I survived a rather chilly February in Scotland in the van this year, but might head south for the winter depending on restrictions 😊
Wonderful video! I love the plastic rain shields. I've been trying to find similar plastic but have no idea what to search for. I keep finding plastic that's too thick or too thin. Do you remember where you found yours? Thanks
Hi Jane, thanks for watching! I think I used a plastic shower curtain 😮 chopped it into pieces and it did the trick nicely 😁
@@SilvaontheRoad thank you!
What a great van, so organised, very impressive! Stay Safe 👍🏻
Thanks Jac!
Wow! You and your van are both wonderful!
Aw, thanks, that's so sweet 💙
Fair play to you , you’ve got the ideal setup for most of your viewers, including me. Thanks for the inspiration. Stay safe. :)
Thanks Mark!
Well thought through.....👏👏☘
Thank you 😁
Loved your video, God you carry a lot of stuff, 😊👍
Thanks Mark, yeah I squeeze a lot in 😂
I got a roof box for mine, lots of extra storage space
Oh I bet that makes a huge difference! Probably would have got one myself if I'd planned to live in it before sticking solar panels to the roof 😂
Amazing 🥰
Thanks Jayne 😁
Hi I'm hoping to do the same very soon I'm currently saving up for my Berlingo, but I wonder if you could tell me the internal length from the boot to the back of the passenger seat if the passenger seat is pushed all the way forward and what is the width I don't know just point. I'm sorry if you've already described this in another video thanks very much
Great to see the details, but where can I see how the whole van is set up?
Hey, thanks for watching 💙 I did wonder if I needed some further out shots but sort of forgot to take them when I was filming this! Hopefully you can get a sense of the setup from this 😄
Your old berlingo looks like the one I have now, I have a 2003 Multispace. Did you ever have engine issues?
Hi Sarah, my old one was a 2004 multispace so yeah probably the same model - I don't recall any major engine issues, just a slightly temperamental battery 😂 I definitely had some work done on it a few times but can't remember that far back to think what it was! The guy that bought it from me was still driving it last year so I think it's still going 😯
Hope yours isn't causing you problems 🤞🏻
Amazing 👍
Thanks 😁💙
You dont need to drive anywhere,... The car is a full adventure as self 😂😂
🤣 so true! I've recently upgraded to a slightly bigger home which is an adventure in itself as I'm converting from it from a van to a camper 😯
Absolutely fantastic, this is so cleverly done. I hope we see you on the road sometime 😃
Thanks so much! Hopefully catch ya out there sometime 😄
WOW.... So much stuff in such a small place. Top set up. 👌
Hi Clare, thanks for watching 💕 I do squeeze a lot in 🤣
Hi thanks for the van tour. Please can you tell me where you got the contraption to keep your rear door open? Karen
Hi Karen, thanks for watching! It's from eBay - there's a link to the one I got in the vid description 😊
have you showed how to use that washing machine? I'd love to see!!
I haven't yet! I keep meaning to I've just been really busy with work this summer 🤣 I'll do it soon!

Thanks 💙 me too!
Its amazing how much kit you have stowed away and so cleverly done too
I sure do cram a lot in 🤣
Super 👍👍👍👍👍👍🙂
Thank you! What type of Berlingo do you have?
Thanks for watching 😀 This was my second Berlingo and a 2016 one - but after 14 months living in it I upgraded to a SWB Renault Trafic for a wee bit more space!
Thank you!@@SilvaontheRoad
Looks like you have it sorted. Just come across your videos you have fit a lot of stuff in a small space. Take care and stay safe
Hi Steve, welcome to my channel! Yeah I squeeze a lot in... Sometimes too much 😂
Did that for 6 months fitted a double bed in the back too lol
Oh nice, I had a small double mattress in my first Berlingo but wanted more storage space and a worktop when I was building this!
It's awesome! Suits you perfectly. What countries do you travel to and do you earn money on the way?....
Thanks Linda! I haven't really travelled much yet, I usually stay in Scotland but I do head down to England sometimes... Hopefully more travel ahead later this year! I do a few things for work, including freelance photography and I have an Etsy store 😁
Scotland is as good as any country!!!
I have gardening tools to store and I get my van next week. Go you and have the best time 🤗
I love the boot side wings! That is a superb idea!
Thanks Damien, they work a treat! Can't take credit for the idea as I found it elsewhere, but adding the magnets was all me ☺️
Please what type of diesel heater did you get fitted?
Hi Lucy! Mine is from a UK brand - it's an MV Airo 2 😊
aw I love the style and the little rainbow heart was such a sweet touch 🌈❤️
Thank you 💕 a good friend gave me the rainbow heart least year and it went straight in Silva 😊

Really cool. But where is the toilet?
It just wasn't always fun and staying warm was a big focus of my day ☺️
Fantastic build, thanks for sharing you have given me some ideas for my build 😀
Thanks for watching 💙 very happy to give people ideas 😁 what van are you building out?
@@SilvaontheRoad Citroen Dispatch so a little bigger but still small, its defo all about the planning to use every bit of space as you have. I have just found your channel so will be binge watching. I'm inspired by your change of path as I'm in the simpler boat really and looking to make some changes. All the best
A Dispatch is a great size 👍🏻 enough space to be comfortable but still fits in everywhere and you should get good mileage from it. I have to say I've looked at them slightly tempted since living in a Berlingo ☺️ Hope you enjoy catching up on my videos 😁
Would be great to know how your brother fitted those buttons for the boot .Also that black tube device that keeps the back hatch open how does that work ? ?
We pulled off the back panel and he connected some wires somehow 😂 not my area of expertise and it was before I had a UA-cam channel otherwise I'd have filmed it! I think I got the idea from another UA-cam video though so there is one out there that shared details of it. Re the boot lock I show how it works in this video: ua-cam.com/video/TpxFNwdvcdQ/v-deo.html at about 6 mins in if you want to skip ahead!
@@SilvaontheRoad Thanks for the time to try to explain much appreciated.ill figure it out no worries.i have the Peugoet Version Maybe see you around on your travel as I will get around Europe a lot even though I’m based in Teeside Uk 👍
That'd be great! Keep an eye out for me on the road 😁
Or you could instal a parking heather system that warms the interior off your car. For information about this system go to your local car parts store or Citroën dealer.
I have a diesel heater installed that does a great job of warming up the small space in the winter 👍🏻😁
I absolutely love your home. I myself have the sister model i have the Peugeot partner and i have a boot jump in it to camp in. I love your storage system.. can you show your bracket for the boot please and maybe a link to it.. love all your homely goods xx
Thank you!! I love her too 💕 the boot jumps look great if you also need to be able to use it as a 'normal' car some of the time 👍🏻 I meant to add links to things and totally forgot - here's the one for the boot latch: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202609594088

Funnily enough I’m booked in this week to have the 2 button switches fitted to release the window and tailgate from inside this coming week. Thanks so much , happy travels new subscriber here in Uk xx
Thanks so much for subscribing 💕 I think mine is the 6" one - longer just means the boot sits out further, I didn't want it open too far. I'll see if I can add a bit about how it works to my next video 😁 that's great you're getting buttons installed, they are so so useful I can't even describe 😂

Thanks 💕 I love scarves ☺️ that one was from Monsoon, last March so not sure they'd still have them... It's soooo soft I do love it!
@@SilvaontheRoad thank you so much for getting back to me! Keep the adventure up!
It was a bit of a rush before moving in so I didn't have time to film it but it was quite stressful trying not to let the headlining bend too much 🙈🤣
I don't know how much of a difference it makes - it's just my roof that I've done, and when it's really cold the van still ends up cold after a while!
It definitely makes a difference from cold rain on the roof and also reduces the sound from that, which I appreciate when the weather is being typically Scottish 😂
Weight issues I'd think?...axle weights compromised?
Hi Grant, I don't seem to have any weight issues, the Berlingo is made to carry a fair old weight in people or stuff!
Hi what did you use to glue the solar panel down Was it silicon
Yeah, it was silicone (SikaFlex EBT+ ) - they're pretty fixed on there and don't think they'll be coming off 🤣 so it works well!
@@SilvaontheRoad cool that's what I thought I only need to charge up phn and gopro battery's so don't think apart from my small solar panel that there's much point putting anything else in at all .
It's great if you can get all the power you need from solar!
Great video! I am currently looking for a Berlingo to make into a micro camper and have got some ideas from your video! So thank-you :)

@@SilvaontheRoad Thank you :)
You'll have great fun with a Berlingo!
If Doctor Who drove a camper van, it would be this one
😂😂
what a fantastic home you've made! did you need any special insurance for this?
Thank you 💙 yeah, normal car / van insurance doesn't cover living in it full time so I had to get a specialist one - I'm with Adrian Flux and I think most people with self built campers go with them as they seem to be the only company that will insure us!
@@SilvaontheRoad I thought it would be something a bit more specialised, thanks for that, I’ll link them up 😀
What incense do you burn to keep the midges at bay? Really cool build...kudos to you and your brother!

I am thinking of getting a micro camper , no mention of porta potty you had toilet paper and a spade am I right thinking that is your toilet .

Wow 😲 incredible packing skills for sure I need your help on storage space for my van plz 🌈
