  • Just an initial review/unboxing of the new Antarctic edition Blancpain x Swatch. While it may be a bit controversial, I am curious to see how it holds up over time and in other environments (specifically of the aquatic variety). Stay tuned for more tests and a full review soon!

A couple of things you need to know before considering buying any of these five 50 fathom watches, including the white one, is that the life span on these is not great.
Swatch says that the life span on the system 51 is 10-20 years, reality 4-8 depending on use, and less according to some of the reviews of the non-blancpain versions?
With the power reserve holding less as each year passes. It's not hack-able, so you can't set the exact time to the second, and although it is a nice looking watch and will certainly draw attention, it is limited on where you can buy it and is over priced for what you get. (Even more ridiculous, if you buy it from a flipper?)
On the plus side (yes there is a plus side?) The moister indicator on the white one, according to Swatch actually works?
How they figured that out is a whole other story, and they also say that it is serviceable, though I have yet to see any fool try and take one apart to prove it?
I think what they mean to say is that they will replace the whole movement, providing it's still under warranty or willing to pay the service fee given, as one guy suggested it is riveted together and the back is sealed?
Will I get one, no! I got the moon swatch and had more than enough problems with that one, to last a lifetime.
An although, there are many cheaper alternatives out there, that can do what this watch can, and a lot more besides, I can't justify forking out $630+ dollars for fear of knowing that it could stop working any day.
So I wish all those you who 'must have' this well, but remember, buyer beware.

The Sistem51 winds counter clockwise. That's why you weren't getting any life winding it. The movement is rivited together rather than using screws therefore can not be disassembled. The only screw is the one holding the rotor on. They are also laser regulated during assembly. They don't have a regulating lever like most movements.

I don’t like that movement inside and how they decorated it but all from the front of the watch looks good to me.
If I pick one would be this color for sure.

Absolutely agree - I wish that the movement at a minimum could be serviced. Thank you for watching!
