Big improvement, my 01 gsxr 1k had the same clutch problem even under warranty they couldn't fix it I finally bought a Barnett clutch with heavy springs and finally it stopped slipping, also some of these super high performance syn oils don't help the matter. 🤙
Yea bro that’s crazy how neutered it is. I had to do the same to my stock ninja 400, that thing would slip like crazy. The Barnett springs saved me on that one too lol. I didn’t think about the oils, so true. I managed to adjust it so hopefully it doesn’t slip anymore but will see
Nice work Scout... And great seeing you again... And looking forwrd to seeing what else you have in stall for this little bat... And the vid on the GS!
Did you leave a 1mm freeplay at the clutch lever???, most people have almost 4mm and they complain about clutch springs, and their clutch going out with only low milage.😮
Right it’s awesome even without the restriction removed, I think I did mine around 1k miles but I honestly would just enjoy the bike as is and wait till you start to notice and feel comfortable with the bike before you do it
@@ScoutsOut yeah I gotcha. I'm coming from 2 years with a Grom and heard it's a pretty significant difference so I'll probably waiting until after 1000 or so
Oh it was the clutch man, it was out of adjustment which is sad that I was riding it just fine until the tune and it was a significant amount of power increase to make it slip
Hey what’s up bro, I’m still using the Rode Lav Mic amzn.to/3bHscXc It’s been the best I can find so far, I’ve been able to eliminate almost all of the popping by cutting a small slit on the inside of the cheek pad and installing it in the pad. Hope this helps
Clutch adjusted? How do you do that exactly? New harder springs? Adjusting it at the handlebar has nothing to do with the power. It just means the freeplay was badly adjusted from factory. If it still slips there is something wrong with the clutch.
Thanks man, I finally checked and mine needs the recall. The next day I got a text from my dealer saying they already orders the parts and will let me know as soon as they get them to fix it which was pretty cool.
I have the 2wheeldyno flash, DNA air filter and Graves slip-on. I'm happy with the performance and have no plans to change anything else on the engine. I will look for ways to drop the curb weight. I think the bike is a lot of fun!!
Following your channel for a while now - please do a 0-60, 0-100 time. I had a Ninja 300 and MT-07 after, I love light nimble bikes but Ninja 300 was a bit slow with acceleration. I'd love to see if this bike is worth picking up. Whatever I get next would probably be a long-term keeper/project bike and there aren't any ZX4RRs where I live - it hasn't come to Europe yet. I'm interested about performance without restrictions to know if I should look at ZX4 or find a ZX6 instead
Oh sweet!!! I have a R7 and I been struggling aftermarket parts lol do you have any recommendations on short break/clutch levers? And is there any way open the R7 power just like you did in this video?
Yup. I’ll just get the inline 4 650r same bike more power still comfortable no clutch slipping. Sucks such a nice bike but I think it just costs way to much and now I know it can’t handle the modded power bummer
You might have missed the end of the vid then, with an adjustment it no longer slips and handles it great. I took it to the track last weekend and it was awesome!
I wouldn't opt for the CBR650R. It may have more displacement, but it has none of the tech and refinement the ZX-4RR does, and it only revs to 12k. Also keep in mind the US CBR650R is still the 2023 version. Honda in its infinite wisdum (sic), decided the NA models should be garbage, and will remain unchanged for 2025 as well, while rest of the world gets the praised E-Clutch. I'd swear off Honda on that alone.
This bike is amazing, Kawasaki is killing it.
Yea bro I love this thing, I hope it gets traction and other manufacturers start making them too

Nice gain in acceleration. Must be a fun bike to rev out.
Yea man it’s so much more fun with the restriction removed
Great video Scout, the bike is fantastic and the acceleration is very impressive. Ride on and have fun with the bike. Take care🤙
Thanks ck, much improved 🍻
Nice work Scout... And great seeing you again... And looking forwrd to seeing what else you have in stall for this little bat... And the vid on the GS!
Thanks bro, yea man it was awesome to get to hang out again! 🍻
If your clutch is slipping and needing to be altered on the lever then it’s probably a lack of free play not so much the power gains.
Yes that’s definitely what it is
Good vid tho I race an old vfr400
Did you leave a 1mm freeplay at the clutch lever???, most people have almost 4mm and they complain about clutch springs, and their clutch going out with only low milage.😮
Haha yes that was the problem with it. I adjusted it at the engine side first and then the clutch and now it’s 👌🏼
What did you do to adjust the clutch? This us my first bike and all i did was put on the graves slip on and i also slip between 3rd and 4th
I need to make a vid on that but this one is good ua-cam.com/video/K7zgPRgGzCI/v-deo.htmlsi=Y2RqmpHLd0mSY2_5
Thankyou i just shipped my ecu out to tst@ScoutsOut
Can’t wait to hear what you think, also remember it takes 3 ish cycles and the bike will clear its own check engine light
@@ScoutsOut thanks for the info!
Can you do a 0-60 and 0-120 from a stand still, so there is a more accurate timing?
Thanks in advance!
Yea I’ll try and put it in the next vid, I just do t like putting that much ware on the clutch
Love my bike and I haven't even got it flashed yet. Only 100 more lol. When did you do yours?
Right it’s awesome even without the restriction removed, I think I did mine around 1k miles but I honestly would just enjoy the bike as is and wait till you start to notice and feel comfortable with the bike before you do it

Slip on is my 1st purchase
Nice! It sounds so much better
what do you mean by "slipping" tire or clutch maybe? sounds amazingggg!!
Oh it was the clutch man, it was out of adjustment which is sad that I was riding it just fine until the tune and it was a significant amount of power increase to make it slip
whats your mic setup bro
Hey what’s up bro, I’m still using the Rode Lav Mic amzn.to/3bHscXc

Im thinking about getting a zx4rr next year I just hope they make more for next year so they sell for closer to msrp after dealer fees and tax
Yea bro don’t pay over msrp

It was out of adjustment from the factory, just interesting that it never slipped until the ecu restriction was removed
Yo, scouts. Welcome home. Did you get the recall fixed?
Thanks man, I finally checked and mine needs the recall. The next day I got a text from my dealer saying they already orders the parts and will let me know as soon as they get them to fix it which was pretty cool.
This video sold me on the zx4r. Still have a long way to go before I have the money saved though🙏🏻
Yea bro this bike is so much fun!
Guys , thoughts on the 2wheeldyno ECU flash for the ZX4RR ?
Good question, I’d like to know to, once I get the intake and full exhaust I need to get a flash
I have the 2wheeldyno flash, DNA air filter and Graves slip-on. I'm happy with the performance and have no plans to change anything else on the engine. I will look for ways to drop the curb weight. I think the bike is a lot of fun!!
Hell yea, I think I’m going with a mail in tune like that as well once I get the intake. I might try 2wheel this time

Thanks man I appreciate the support. I just bought a RaceBox that is a track timer/drag meter, I’ll put something together with that soon
What phone mount do you have?
Quad lock
How do you stop the clutch from slipping?
I only had to adjust it at the lever side, if you run out of room you might have to transition to the engine side adjuster
@@ScoutsOutcan you make or reference a video on how to do this?
I’ll try to get one out soon, that’s a good video idea
@@ScoutsOut awesome thank you man just sent my Ecu to get flashed so gonna have to do this my 4rr I’m assuming
Ohh cool, yea possibly
What exhaust?
Graves
How did you fix the clutch slipping issue? I have this same bike and I'm about to do the flash and slip on
Just adjusted the clutch on the engine side, they a little fine running on the lever
Would this be the restrictor for Canadian markets?
From my understanding yes, both us and Canada have restrictions
@ScoutsOut I was seriously considering purchasing this as my first street bike then I heard about the limiter and was turned off from it.
Yea, I made a few videos on fixing it but it does suck to spend that much and have to spend more just to get it the way it should be
Did you get rid of your R7?
No I still have it and ride it a lot
Oh sweet!!! I have a R7 and I been struggling aftermarket parts lol do you have any recommendations on short break/clutch levers? And is there any way open the R7 power just like you did in this video?
ASV makes good levers for the r7, and for a tune on the bike you should mail on your ecu to get it flashed after you do exhaust or intake
Thanks brother but mail it to who,
TST?
I hear two wheel DYNO works is really good
2wheeldynoworks.com/products/yamaha-r7-mail-in-ecu-flashing-service
How much to unrestricted the bike?
It was $200 through TST Industries
For sure not doing this to mine if it makes the clutch slip
It doesn’t make the clutch slip it just made it more obvious that my Skitch wasn’t adjusted properly
Yup. I’ll just get the inline 4 650r same bike more power still comfortable no clutch slipping. Sucks such a nice bike but I think it just costs way to much and now I know it can’t handle the modded power bummer

We need a supercharged or turbo version 💯
That would be sick
check out Trickstar's video on how they put zx25r a Turbo. currently they are experimenting zx4rr's kit. ua-cam.com/video/JRohAxJPSSo/v-deo.html
Dear americans, RPM is Revolutions Per Minute.
RPM'S doesnt make sense.
