    _______
    Find me in the silence, tell me where I've been. The air is growing colder, the clouds are caving in. I lost the sound of your voice in the winter sun. I dreamed that dawn would wake us, but morning never comes.
    I watched you go away. I watched the colors fade. I can't bear the pain of losing yesterday to a world of grey.
    I found you in the shadows following a ghost. I thought you felt my presence, but we were still alone. Where do you turn when the corners of the room run from you? And how it burns to be a memory lost in a mind you never knew.
    I watched you go away. I watched the colors fade. I can't bear the pain of losing yesterday to a world of grey.
    My fading sunset, swaying precarious in the sand. Every grain a lingering moment, slipping through the cracks in my hand. Disintegrating in the predawn light: A memory eroded by time. I’ll turn with your reversing clock and describe the color when you can’t see the sunrise.
    I watched you go away. I watched the colors fade. I can't bear the pain of losing yesterday to a world of grey. (1)
    _______
    1. Dedicated to those suffering from memory disorders, including their loved ones.

    I'm about to lose my grandfather to dementia. It's never easy to say hello to someone you've known for years and have them not remember who you are. It's a hard way to see him go, but even in his current state, it's truly amazing to see him praise God on Sunday mornings. After he goes his memory will live on in all of us. And we'll all see him again soon.

      Sorry to hear that man. Life is a struggle for everybody and one of the most difficult things to experience is watching a loved one deteriorate right before your very eyes, not being able to do anything. Moments like that should make us contemplate our very own existence and try to live more meaningfully. ☮️

    This song has been on my heart and mind since it was released. I owe a lot to this band...
    I watched my father my whole life suffering from a physical disability. He had several head injuries along the way and i watched him change in ugly ways. Now as we get older he slips more and more and it's a scary reality watching someone lose their mind. Bless those who are suffering, who are in the suffering and with those who are suffering. You are not alone 🖤

    I have no words. Garrett is the single-most abundant source of inspiration I can imagine. His lyrics are so profound it literally brings tears to my eyes, and I don't know anybody suffering from a memory-loss disorder. I can only hope to be half the lyricist this man is by the end of my life.

    Thank you so much for this. I lost my Grandfather to Alzheimer's, and even though it's been half a decade I struggle to process it. By the time he passed it felt like there was so little left of the man I knew. He had few lucid moments in his last year; there were times when he knew me, but most of the time he struggled to even recognize my mother. The toughest part since he's been gone has been dealing with the fear of succumbing to the same fate.
    This song gives voice to a lot of the pain I felt at the time, and the fear that I still have going forward.

    • @samanthaspeaks4206
      @samanthaspeaks4206 5 років тому +1

      KayleDevanandAWSOME 😔🙏🏽 my grandpa passed with Alzheimer's complications too. We decided to not keep him in a nursing home ans grandma turned in all her retirement to have a hospital room for him . I was like 10 or 11 and grandma said norman please eat he clinched his teeth,she said norman please drink he shook his head she said youre tired arent you he said yes and she broke down on the kitchen floor . Years prior he told her he didnt want tubes or blood or anything but when his time came let him be with God so we knew whatbit meant and it was hard. His side of the family called her a murderer because she wouldnt put a feeding tube in him. He died 3 days later but my grandmother loved him so much and their love showed me surely humans still could have a love beyond human compassion. Now i stay at night with my grandma,she fought breat cancer,shes a 18 year survivor and diabetic who had to choose meds or food now she has both but unfortunately has dementia now and it's hard because you know and they know. Im so sorry for your loss. God bless your family. It is nice knowing others can relate in some ways though.. maybe thats what God means when the bible says He uses everything for our good? The fellowship? Idk..
