This might end up being the best thing that could happen to Ward. I am suspicious that some of his confidence was turning into arrogance. I don't mind confidence with Swag but confidence comes with being humble and understanding you can always improve. Arrogance makes you think you're just better than everyone. Cam's comment about being the best player in college football is interesting. I would have preferred he said " When I play my best, I have the ability to be the best player in college football" Instead of just saying I am the best player in college football as Jalen Milroe blows by him in the Heisman odds ! 🤷♂️ 🙌
I think we need Horton, Campbell, Clark and Scott. We need them to eat up guards and center. Then with Bain back he’s great at setting the edge. You can also have fresh Defensive Ends to rush the passer late downs. The big DT’s eating space will help with the Missed tackles. Mauigoa and Bassainth spent a ton of the game fighting off guards. Even our secondary had to fight of blocks also.
You are never going to have a good running game with this system. Just run into the middle and lay down. Best run so far was bounced outside…wow what a thought.
Difficult to run when you have the Oline in tight splits. If we are going to run out of the Air Raid then we need to use the smaller backs. I hope we run out of the pistol or power I this week. Also our oline was not built to run in the air raid system.
This game came down to defense time and time again being undisciplined. The fact that Alston made the same mistake of not containing the QB in the pocket at least three times in the game and two of those led to TDs is concerning. Ruben Bain can’t come soon enough
Have mentioned it in past but we missed an ENTIRE era of spread football which is what draws the stars of cfb to play in schemes that highlight their skills.. I always said the product on field was terrible and having an exciting brand of football would draw more people, check the post there are yearssssss of trying to help others understand. What your kids experience is not a surprise to me, u sat thru those home games and even as a die hard it was not an exciting brand.. It is a great feeling to enjoy it thru the lense of the little ones, i was 15+ deep wit family, enjoy those moments

In the running game we need to run more outside the tackles, all our run are between the tackles. All of our biggest runs have been outside. Running more of the toss sweep out of shotgun ( as VT was doing) loosen up the inside. Our rus are too predictable.
Cam threw for 345 and 4 tds. Miami moved the ball up and down the field and outgained VT by 100 yards. Those 3 turnovers kept this game from being a blow out.

We won the game right? 5-0, 1-0 in conference play. Virginia Tech played a good game, we did not execute and played not our best game, but still got the victory. Those two pics by Cam were untimely as we would have been up 21-7 and this game would not have been close. Francisco missed a tackle on that long run, or that never happens. I also think it’s silly to use a word like “exposed”because we had one game where we just didn’t play well against a good team.
