This is actually insane, I was about to start looking for Blakey’s version everywhere but found this and I’m so psyched to try and learn it. Though after like 2:22 I’m kinda scared, but I mean, I’ll give it my best. Though you played it amazingly, like holy I need to sit down or something. Really well done 👌👌
Thank you! The left hand jumps are definitely tricky, but they're also not actually in the original. I only added them to "fill out" more, which the band takes care of in the original. If you want to, you could just continue playing with your left hand like previously, although the dynamic switch wouldn't be as extreme as it is in my video. Alternatively, octaves aren't necessary for the bass notes. I just added them to, once again, increase the range in dynamics. Although if you are interested in playing more jazz, stride is a definitive "must learn"! This piece might be good practice for that.
Man, I love the additional harmony you added at the 2:07 section. I've been struggling trying to adapt Moanin for solo piano as you normally really feel the absence of the rest of the trio, and I try to stay away from stride with this as I feel it detracts from the cool sound somehow. Great job, thank you sir - I shall steal from it at will
Came because I am basically a day one, lesson zero beginner and a lover of jazz. I've listened to this a half dozen times today out of sheer jazzy enjoyment 😅
From 2:50 is purly badass sound :O respect. Synthesia Composer do you think it is playable from start-1:30 -> 2:34-end without that gap? I would like to skip it.
It should work as long as the chord progression stays the same. It's jazz so really you can play around with melodies and add your own licks, as long as the song's basic structure remains unaltered.
I missed the notes! The same thing happens at 2:58. But I was still satisfied with the take so I just decided to edit out the wrong notes from the MIDI file. You're the first one to notice so it seems to be a very minor detail!
Umm... Holy shit I mean wow, amazing. I know the main part (intro, melody and then what is in the original the outro too), but now I'll attempt to learn the solo with this (thanks for that!), although those jumps with the left hand at the end it's scary heh
The left hand part is extremely difficult, but you really nailed it! Can you try playing Duel of Fates(challenge from my side), although I bet you can do it
On the desktop version of UA-cam (and some apps) you can actually slow down the videos. So I didn't really feel the need to upload it with a different speed.
I really love your channel! I have a suggestion (If you want to or have time) can you please do Chopin's Etude op. 10 no. 5 "Black Keys"? That would be awesome if you could! : )
I actually have jammed on it many times! I think if I did it, it would be my own version of it though. Herbie has so many great live solos of that song, and I'd hate to concentrate on a single one.
@@turinhorse00 In jazz the title usually credits the bandleader/soloist. Take "Autumn Leaves" for example, how many covers actually say "Joseph Kosma - Autumn Leaves"? Almost none it seems.
@@SynthesiaComposer autumn leaves is different. It’s an old standard and it’s never been played by Kosma at least if it has its not a very known recording and even so it’s always credited to him. This is a composition of one of the band members and they presented it as such when they played it. Take any other composition by a more modern artist that’s been covered over and over. It should be illegal to have this good a transcription and No sheets 😢 man is tearing this shit up 😊

my favorite part is at 1:00 to me it just sounds so clean, and so simplistic but in a way it highlights the meaning of hardbop jazz

Bobby Timmons solo on moanin’ great job man !! Btw. He also wrote the song ;)
Very nice
At 0:21 I don have another octave on the left hand to play A#/Bb wait nvm I can just change it but still have it sound good
Should be fine with a 5 2 1 fingering.
Who's here from Kids on the slope??
Not me, I learned kids on the slope was a thing after this
Yes, me lol just got a piano too, now I'm trying to learn this piece.
@Keith Flicks was just thinking that

Your amazing but one question how should i learn this with a tutorial like this its impossible okay!!

Maybe far in the future, I don't have any Chopin pieces planned right now. If I'd do one of his etudes it would probably be Op.10 No. 4!
Ok thanks! That would be a great one to do as well! : )
is there a piano sheet for this version please? I REALLY LOVE IT and I wanna learn it so bad. Thanks for sharing

Synthesia and Adobe Premiere.

If i might ask. What scale is this song in? Will make it a lot easier to improvise if i somehow get it wrong?
