    We have used the ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!

    That top board at the back looks like the switching board for the inverter, as it has the pre-charge resistor on it. This not switching off is the culprit for the huge parasitic drain on idle.

    Agree with Brian B, 27.7 watts (4292w * .155 / 24) consumption on idle is way too high for a 2k inverter especially when combined with an inverter that is only 83.8% efficient. A Victron Multiplus with a 2000w inverter only has a standby draw of 7-9 watts. I haven't looked up other inverters like AIMs or GoPower.

    • @randybobandy9828
      @randybobandy9828 Рік тому

      The fact you used victron as your comparison is disingenuous. They have the lowest idle consumption of any inverter. 15-20w is just how it goes for most inverters. Not much can be done.

    Why does everyone test with some kind of tool but never LOAD the tool? A chop saw NOT CHOPPING doesn't use nearly the load that it would use running through material. And likewise...balsa would be different than construction lumber vs. quality hardwood vs. metal, etc.

      @@eksine You don't have to believe me...Try it yourself with a meter...You think the motor won't draw more power once it encounters a hard wood? If your breaker is tripping on startup then your breaker already almost full and has loads running on it. Motors do have a startup current yes... but what were saying is that without testing it with a cut, one can't truly measure the load it would draw while in use... I would check you "logic" before a quick response.

    Great video. Always enjoy the thorough details you explained in all of your videos. Couple questions.
    #1. As your evaluation. Do you see, can the EP500 withstand being plugged in at all times specifically the PV input? I can manually plug in the A/C input when needed.
    #2. Has your unit gotten the firmware update yet that dealing with the UPS issue you mentioned in this video? If so, have you had a chance to retest the UPS function? Since you said the firmware fix is to put the grid AC in bypass. It is then not in true UPS mode. Right? It will need to switch over to the AC Inverter when the grid AC is dropped. Isn't it? Do you have any way to test the switching time that switches to the battery as power source? I wonder whether this may have the 23 ms switch time as the EF Delta Pro has?

      They use Kickstarter, i suspect, to reduce thier own investment and risk into new products. Also Bluetti product are very similar to Poweroaks, so how much development are they actually doing? Is any of the kickstarter development research being sent to other divisions to profit outside of the intended investment?
      Blindly investing on kickstarter should be discouraged, people should take a little time and look at the company they are thinking about sending their money too, is it really going where you think? will you get a fully finished product (which early Bluetti products seem not to be).

    another question. The top half of my house has 3 bedrooms with 230v a/cs (24,000btu) each and a standard electric dryer. I previously had a 10kw step down transformer from 220v to 110v which worked very well with everything in the top half of my house. There is now direct 120/220v with no need for a transformer. In case of hurricanes etc I wanted to know if the split system can handle that load 24/7 with solar panels. can the wires for the 230v dryer and the a/cs go directly from the transfer box to the split system or would I have to run those 230v wires separately to the 230v outlets?

    Can I select that the power station uses Solar panels as its main source until the batteries are almost depleted? So only then it uses the AC power to keep my devices running? I would like to save money on my electric bill.
    My house is a rental that already has 6 solar panels on the roof, but since I don't own the place I can't add more solar panels to the existing configuration, so I want to use my own solar panels to a power station and then connect my TV, PC etc to save more money in the summer.
    Also, If the backup battery is full and idle but the solar panels are still receiving power, can it just send the remaining power back to the power grid via the wall outlet? And does this power station also support that?
    Thanks for answering these 2 question, good day :)

Looking forward to your upcoming video with 6 scooter batteries in a rolling case! ❤ ❤ ❤

    I'm trying to understand this stuff. Don't you need 2400 watts to get a full 20A outlet? How can this thing have 4 - 20A outlets with a 2000W output? I'm running a table saw and dust collector system, sometimes dust collector and planer, in each case eventually I have to reset the 20A breaker. Will this handle the load?

    Question: I had a transfer switch installed in my house when I bought a portable 10k watt generator. If I were to purchase the Bluetti would I be able to use the same transfer switch or would it need modifications? Full disclosure I’m solar, LP & Gas generator ignorant so please don’t get complicated with the answer.
    Also what parts would I need on hand for repairing the Bluetti should a solar flare or EMP event happen? Thank you for your time.

I plug it in at jobs and use it as a mobile workshop... would this be able to make some rip cuts with my table saw and miter saw at a job, or run my 30gal air compressor? And for how long? What would you recommend for a off grid power source for a mobile workshop?

      Hi Dempsey, Inverters can really struggle with starting up power tools, compressors are probably the worst, i have a 2000w that can not start a small compressor. So almost certainly the EP500 will not run your compressor, the EP500 pro has a bigger inverter (3000w) so it may fair better. I would suggest looking into what Will Prowse did with his trailer, it will be cheaper and give you much higher power (6500w) which will start large power tools. Also you can add batteries if you need more capacity easily!!

    I have another question. I have a 3/4 HP shallow well jet pump for my cistern and it can supply water to my whole house with 4 kitchens, 4 washing machines and 6 1/2 baths etc. In case of hurricanes etc I want to be able to run the pump as a stand alone system for 24/7 7 days a week for 4 weeks. The feature of the solar panels during the day and the battery in the night may work. As a person with knowledge can a EP500 with solar panels work for me? The pump is 1500w running with 3000w starting. it is 115v at 13amps 60Hz.

    • @kimmer6
      @kimmer6 3 роки тому

      Nope, won't do it. But it will run a margarita machine and your wife's hair dryer. Seriously, in hurricane weather rains, overcast, the solar charging is minimal. That well pump will be running all the time with 47 people living there. With 1500 watts burning up the battery when that pump runs, the EP500 won't hack it for very long. Why not spend the extra money and build more bathrooms and get a pair of Honda eu3000i generators, one being for backup?

    I have no PV, needed a UPS for my pc anyway and thought "hey great, UPS to shut down the pc + keeping the fridge running for a few more days" but as of now this is an online/double-conversion UPS. I will have to wait and see if the offline/standby mode has a sufficient short transition time & low energy usage.
    Otherwise I could just buy a cheap UPS for the pc and back the fridge with a diy powerwall + manual transfer switch.

      I just finished making my baby boy his own 7200 watt hour wheeled 130 pound ''solar generator''. He's 35 and still cries when the power goes out. Its for his fridge and chest freezer. Last year the utility cut him out for 47 hours but the Honda 2000 generator I gave him came in handy. Now he can rig for silent running and his wifee can blow dry her hair. Cost about $2700 in parts, $100K in my engineering/fabrication time. I will give him some solar panels and 80 feet of 10 gage wire to connect the panels he can temporarily place on the patio roof. For the last 2 weeks its providing cooling for my house for free while I field test it and make minor improvements. Today I just installed Bluetooth on it to monitor the battery with my cell phone. So far, so good.
