Thank you Peter for talking with Oscar Goodman. No matter how people see him and his wife, they played monumental roles in changing Las Vegas...unfortunately people like them are not in place now to stop the corrupt invasion of corporations taking over the Strip. ( Yes, Carolyn is still the mayor of Las Vegas, but most of the strip is in the county) I was born here in 1955. I've seen this town change like you couldn't imagine. The man Oscar represented in Texas was dating the sister of my bestfriend, she was a cocktail waitress at Ceasar's. My bestfriend and I had no clue about his life, we only knew he would send us to some of the finest places in the city...and we loved that. Oscar has always dreamed big when it came to this town and thankfully many of his dreams came true. But he has had his share of pain. Just a few years ago, I was out early in the morning walking my dog when I saw police all around a bathroom in the park. I found out later that his son was murdered in that bathroom. It made my heart sink. This town had it's share of problems but for what it's worth, I wouldn't change any part of my life here. I was involved with so many things, that at the time seemed normal but looking back, I realize that we were all growing and changing not only ourselves but the city. In the future people like Oscar will be missed because folks have lost that fighting spirit for the sake of us all. Thank you again.
Seems the corporations, some foreign, started taking over the Strip in the 80's when i was living there. They do not have the Vegas style sense of before, the hotels i saw recently seem soul less and cheap. The old Vegas had it's problems but there was a sense of community too. Not sure how it is now.

I have seen every video you have, this guy was the best interview I have seen. So many stories he must have! 😮 😊 Just wow! Would love for a second interview with him!!!
Peter-this has been my favorite of all your videos. (and I've seen a number). I lived in Las Vegas for a while back in the 1980s, and met Mayor Goodman (just Mr. Goodman then) several times thru mutual friends. He is still the same great character he was then! And-he really accomplished things that previous Mayors couldn't or wouldn't. By the early 1980s, Downtown LV was a depressing mess. After the Mob quit running things, QOL had dropped rapidly. Casino Gulch(Fremont Street) was a depressing mess. A handful of the old-time places like the Golden Nugget were hanging on, but for every one of those there were a dozen flophouses, dingy bars, slot casinos and aggressive panhandlers.. Even the Strip was hit or miss in those days. For every Caesar's Palace, there was a grubby bar/slot casino across the street where elderly men and women could come in, cash their social security checks, and then drink and play the slots until all their money was gone. Oscar played a major role (as I think you could tell) in redeveloping LV, particularly Downtown, and he was able to that because he: 1) was believed to be honest; and 2) he was such a character. And natives of LV in those days LOVED their characters. Thanks so much!
Great story, Peter! I really enjoy learning about the mafia and those times. I could listen to Mr. Goodman all day! Next time in Vegas we'll visit the museum, for sure!
What a great episode Peter! My husband and I lived in Vegas in 1984 for 6 months. It was the tail end of the old Vegas, still in a somewhat depressed period after the MGM fire. Sammy, Frank and the gang were still performing there and we, as New Yorkers, felt like we were in a foreign country. The wild Wild West in many respects. Our landlord, a physicist, would come around to this very strange area we lived in, South Las Vegas, near the Hacienda, and go around to his properties, door to door with a gun in his pocket, collecting rent. What a fascinating well spoken man Oscar Goodman is. Could listen to him forever. Your instincts for who to speak to and spend time with could not be more astute. And your humanitarian big heartedness makes it a joy to spend time with you in these videos. Big fan
Oh, absolutely! I hope he keeps up the great work glorifying those who have chosen to profit from defending serial murderers. It's an inspiration to us all!
Wow! All of Peter Santenellos videos give so much more than I expect. And my expectations aren't low. Really admire his way of speaking which encourages people to share, without ever making them feel judged. And this man being interviewed is an incredible wealth of history.. Absolute intrigue all the way. What a interesting story. Better then any 60 minute episode. Just packed full of information! Well done, best thing I've seen in longtime. Thank you.
Peter has a very great interviewing style. He lets people talk as long they want without interrupting them. And at the same time he’s actually listening to what they have to say. Learn from it kids, he’s a master at his craft.
What a life!!! Great interview and fun hearing about his life and the history he helped create there in Vegas. For someone who represented some of the biggest names in mafia he has integrity and an outlook that's rooted in truth that wouldn't be expected
He is doing great for his age, amazing to see him getting around and upstairs so we'll. This was a great interview. Just shows how far people can go both physically and cognitively if they take care of themselves!
It's truly a marvel to witness the mental acuity of a lifelong defender of serial murderers. Who would have thought that years spent profiting from the darkest corners of humanity could lead to such remarkable cognitive prowess? Never forget Spilotro likely killed 27 people, and that's just one of Goodman's clients. Way worse than Jeffrey Dahmer.
I've met Mr. Goodman and his wife several times growing up here in Vegas. The first thing I said about 10 mins into this video was: "Wow. I've never heard Mr. Goodman talk so much." 🤣 Peter definitely has a way of getting the interviewee to spill the beans. Lol I love all of his videos.
This is amazing interview and the Mayor speaks candidly about his very interesting life. It's as good as any "professional" interview that I've ever seen before. Great job on the interview, and for documenting the history of LV. He is so engaging and alert for his age. It shows you the kind of strong people that built this country. Well done.

You did an excellent job Peter of interviewing Oscar Goodman. My late husband, Hank Stickney, brought minor league baseball ,the 51s to Las Vegas and also ice hockey the Las Vegas Thunder in later years. I think it’s important that you bring this authenticity and like you mentioned, whether people agree or not the subject matter is being brought for our own inspection.
Peter! I have watched you for a year now, and you’ve had some pretty good interviews, however, this one was by far the best I have ever seen from any reporter. I lived in Las Vegas for 16 years, half of them under the mayorship of Oscar Goodman, and never knew this side of him. Very truthful, very straightforward, and very intelligent!Thank you for such a great interview, and to Oscar Goodman, you were the best mayor of Las Vegas and I wish that we had somebody like you up here in Seattle, a city that is complete garbage now. A heartwarming sight indeed! The defender of serial killers, casually telling stories from a mansion bought by taking justice away from families of the murdered. It's like a real-life fairytale, where the protagonist defends the indefensible and still manages to be the life of the party. Truly inspiring.
@@boston1977boston I didn’t say that any of those things that you just brought up were “heartwarming”. I understand that you were trying to be sarcastic, but your comment missed the mark. Awesome interview. Really enjoyed this video. This is my first time hearing of Mr. Goodman and I was refreshed to hear such honestly and straight forthness.
Thanks for putting this together Peter. I recall going to Goodman’ steak house in downtown and it was like stepping back to the old days of the mob. Even the waiter had a toupee
What a gem! I have fitness who are criminal defense lawyers and the successful ones will tear down a case to the core to make sure the investigation is done correctly. Oscar is blunt and people struggle with those that are blunt. They want to be coddled.
Refreshing to witness an attorney whose life's work involved defending serial murderers for a dollar. Pure integrity. Thank god there aren't attorneys who dedicate their lives to defending the poor and innocent victims. Those types of attorneys would have no integrity.

"Don't become your client," his wife said to him. What a woman. Riches and glory are what we all want but don't need.
Taxation is Unconstitutional
They’re taxing us to death
Too many taxes
I rarely comment on anything, but I really liked listening to this guy. You should do more of them with him.
Big fan
We lived in Las Vegas for 26 years, encompassing all of Oscar's tenure as mayor. Thank you for doing this special interview.
Fantastic! I only wish it was longer, I could listen to Oscar literally all day.
Absolutely love this episode. People telling history is one of the greatest assets we have. Please keep up the work.
Oh, absolutely! I hope he keeps up the great work glorifying those who have chosen to profit from defending serial murderers. It's an inspiration to us all!
What a character! I love and appreciate how spicy and blunt he is. His honesty is a jewel. He is thoughtful. Virtues I admire
Wow! All of Peter Santenellos videos give so much more than I expect. And my expectations aren't low. Really admire his way of speaking which encourages people to share, without ever making them feel judged. And this man being interviewed is an incredible wealth of history.. What an interesting character. So happy to have his stories preserved
This is a great video. I live in Vegas and want to thank you for sharing some of Vegas most interesting People.
Peter you never interrupt.
So many people do not let the person speak. This was an amazing interview.
Absolute intrigue all the way. What a interesting story. Better then any 60 minute episode. Just packed full of information! Well done, best thing I've seen in longtime. Thank you.
I can listen to oscar talk for hours! Very interesting to hear about the mob days of las vegas
Reminds me of my dad if he were a slightly more shady type character.
That’s right!
That was the most fascinating interview I ever seen of Oscar Goodman. Peter you having an amazing gift to let the interviewee speak for themselves.
Yes he does. Fascinatingly articulate lawyer-mayor-gangster and PS is a perfect interviewer!
This needs a part 2! Seems like he has so much more to share. Thanks for the video!
Yes! I just wanted it to go on and on.
This is amazing interview and the Mayor speaks candidly about his very interesting life. It's as good as any "professional" interview that I've ever seen before. Great job on the interview, and for documenting the history of LV. He is so engaging and alert for his age. It shows you the kind of strong people that built this country. Well done.
I recommend watching your videos to many people because you are a reporter of life and life’s situations! And most importantly you are always a gentleman, whether you are on a whaling boat near the Bering Strait or sitting with Oscar in the Mob Museum! Thank you for all the knowledge you disseminate!
That's so cool of you, thank you Buck!
I just found them and loving them, I disagree sometimes but that's what makes the world go round 😊
Fascinating story. This guy shows that at 82, you can still have all your faculty's unlike some other powerful leaders. Kindest regards, Richard U.K

hahaha unlike B_ _ e _
faux “leader”
Hahahaha bodied my idol Donald Duck
Such a great content creator. Way better than network tv used to be. It takes hard work and dedication to seek out these people, and places. You capture the culture so well. Thank you.
What an honor Peter! Oscar is a very special guy!
This is and will be my #1 favorite vlog by you!
Oscar is so approachable. He loves Vegas, and we love him
Exceptional and well done 👏 👊👍👍👍👍👍
What a fantastic interview. I must say, it changed my mind about him. All I knew before was that he was a "mob lawyer" and eventually the mayor. But this video filled in between the lines to revealy the reality of what went on past and present. Thank you.
He was the best mayor of Las Vegas. Always said what was on his mind.
...and protected the Cornfield Mafia who secretly runs Las Vegas and everyone in that State
Mental
jan laferty jones
Lol he just showed he was a Psychopath
He put homeless people on a bus to Utah
He called the free month at experience a “park” so he could dip into the parks budget to maintain the lights and not bill the casinos there.
He was a scumbag.
You can tell Mr. Goodman was a zealous advocate for his clients. A top notch attorney. You can see why he was so successful in his career. Very interesting interview!
He worked terribly hard for his clients. I wish I had him a few years ago to represent me.
You did an excellent job Peter of interviewing Oscar Goodman. My late husband, Hank Stickney, brought minor league baseball ,the 51s to Las Vegas and also ice hockey the Las Vegas Thunder in later years. We also brought Joey and Maria’s Italian wedding , an interactive dinner show in Las Vegas as well for several years . I met Oscar Goodman a few times. Somehow I ended up with two or three bobble heads of him!
Thank you for bringing this Content. I think it’s important that you bring this authenticity and like you mentioned, whether people agree or not the subject matter is being brought for our own inspection.
What a great Video!! I have lived in Vegas for over 30years and I enjoyed this interview of Oscar Goodman the most. Great Job ,Thank You !!
Again- best interview/ subject from your channel, viewer for life now!!
Yes the best single interview. His Amish series was also great though. But not in terms of singular interviews, just the overall picture.
@@garrysekelli6776 💯 👏
@@garrysekelli6776 one of my favorites was the former military building in Alaska that was essentially the entire town only accessible threw the tunnel or by cruise ship . I never imagined such a place existed.
A great interview. Oscar was part of Las Vegas when Street Guys actually ran that town & he actually represented & knew most--if not all of them firsthand. He's still sharp as they come at 83.
Oscar is our own local treasure! He is right. Vegas isn’t as kind As it was decades ago. Corporations came in and made it so impersonal. Thanks for interviewing Oscar. The stories that man has!!!
Let's thank Oscar for reminding us of the nostalgia and warmth that comes from embracing the darker side of humanity. Oscar Goodman, America's greatest defender of serial murderers: indeed a local treasure.
I recently found your channel and am hooked. How refreshing to see intelligent interviews with fascinating characters! I am learning so much and love this! Enjoy every episode. Bravo! 👏
I have a signed copy of Oscar's book. A good read! Great video Peter!
Thank you for this awesome video! Mayor Goodman is a legend. While stationed in Vegas you would always here about him. The Man is definitely loved and respected.
Good morning Peter, you knocked it out of the park with this one!! Thank you.
Thank you Mr Goodman and Peter. Awesome interview, one of your best.
One of the most interesting interviews I've seen....loved it as someone who saw 'Casino'
Peter-Your videos whether covering a geographic local or a person within that confines are spot on. Get a true feel for the heartbeat and characters that make these places beat! Keep up the good work!
We appreciate your effort and hard work as always. We will support you no matter what.
Thank you Peter for spending some time here in Las Vegas and for the awesome recent videos you've filmed here! I'm a native of Las Vegas and it warms my heart to see Mr. Goodman out and about around town with you like this. I've seen alot of him growing up here, and interviews like this are so important. Vegas is ever-growing and always changing. It's nice to hear about pre-90's Vegas (I was born in '89 - and it's a totally different place here now than it was back then). Still very happy to call Vegas home. I'd love to show you around the local areas of town and North Las Vegas (where I currently live). I'm a huge fan! Cheers! 👋🏽
Thanks Kaysie! I've left the city but have a few more videos coming about Vegas. This Saturday's video is a heavy but good one.
@PeterSantenello Nice. I'll be tuning in as usual! ☺️ Looking forward to it.
Loved watching this and hearing Oscar’s stories. What a life he’s had ❤
Whether you like him or not, Oscar is an icon here in Vegas. 🤷🏽♀️ He was a defense attorney, so that was his job. Maybe let’s blame the actual “serial killers” for being killers vs. the people who counsel them in court… 💁🏽♀️
This is so rad. I didn't know how well Mr. Goodman had been doing, but he sounds as sharp as he was when he was our mayor. Awesome video!
What a sharp, brilliant man. Great video. Gonna pass it on to as many as I can.
Thank goodness Peter captured these stories on video. Oscar’s stories are amazing.
speaking up, actually saying words - and from this old man
better than any Peter had on channel for years.
what a character indeed love it
This man is a legend and thank god he is still around. Thank you for doing this video Peter!
Good to know that there are still people out there who appreciate the work of people who profit from murderers over the safety of society. Keep up the great work.
Oscar is a Straight up great guy, a real character. My grandfather dealt with him many times. I wont say how or who or for what for obvious reasons but Oscar was definitely the man to go to when in legal trouble. the last time my grandfather talked to Oscar was back in 1987. RIP Nono
Peter, that was really cool - thank you! agreeing or not agreeing being the least important part of listening to other people is such an important message, and i really appreciate that vibe in your videos. PS, shoutout to Oscar's house! even a Scorsese film couldn't create anything that cool 😎🍸
Best video on Vegas so far. Glad that these doors opened unto you and that we were able to share this moment with you.
Peter, if there are UA-cam awards, equivalent to the Primetime Emmy Awards, you certainly have earn an award. Excellent, excellent interview!!
I met Oscar Goodman back in the early 2000 and he was a cool Mayor of las Vegas back then, this is the first time I have seen Mr Goodman since the early 2000 and he is still a cool guy
Wow... I'm impressed! You not only got to ride along with Oscar, but you got him to open up and share a lot of useful facts and information. I have hit the like and subscribe button for your channel to see more valuable content like this. Thank you.
just when I thought I have a favorite video or yours ( india, west virginia) a new one comes up. I hope Oscar is doing well and continuing his great legacy. So inspirational!
Mr Goodman is a gem, idc what anyone says. His stories really paint a picture of how things were back then and it’s incredibly interesting
Lawyers like Mr. Goodman have always influenced me to study and practice law. A true gem and he should have his own podcast.
Na, it’s how much more special this way. There are other interviews that are really good of him…
I think Patrick Bet- David did one with him and it was actually better than this…
Great interview, Peter! My son and I visited the Mob Museum this past Memorial Day weekend. Loved it! Wish we could have met Oscar!
Fascinating! Thanks!
What a intelligent, articulate Man Mr Goodman is. He's still got it! great stories. Thank you all for making it possible
Awesome interview. Really enjoyed this video. This is my first time hearing of Mr. Goodman and I was refreshed to hear such honestly and straight forthness.
Fantastic interview. I would want to spend all day with him just to hear all the stories. So incredibly sharp for 83.
Loved this episode! Peter, you are the best! I. So glad you are doing these stories as there is nothing half as good on any network!
Peter, people are willing to open up to you because you always treat everyone with respect no matter who they are. Thank you for that. ❤
Thanks for putting this together Peter. I recall going to Goodman’ steak house in downtown and it was like stepping back to the old days of the mob. Even the waiter had a toupee
Thanks I really enjoyed the interview conversations !
Another wonderful expose. Thank you.
Amazing interview! All your documentaries are amazing. But this one was special. To listen to an actual lawyer representing the mob! Great content!
What a gem! I have fitness who are criminal defense lawyers and the successful ones will tear down a case to the core to make sure the investigation is done correctly. Oscar is blunt and people struggle with those that are blunt. They want to be coddled.
This was a very good interview . Love it . Wish it was longer . Good stuff!
LUVED THIS!!! THANK YOU!!!
Congratulations…….One of the most interesting Vlogs I’ve seen. Great questions & none of this sugar coated BS that some vlogs promote.
How refreshing to see an attorney with integrity! And a saver of history, I am sad when they tear down the old buildings. Loving this series Peter.
Refreshing to witness an attorney whose life's work involved defending serial murderers for a dollar. Pure integrity. Thank god there aren't attorneys who dedicate their lives to defending the poor and innocent victims. Those types of attorneys would have no integrity.
