Awesome. A superb series that people often forget. Superb turns by John Thaw and Reece Dinsadle and written by the creator of Rising Damp. Thanks so much. Class.
I used to love this yeah. Always wondered whatever happened to Reece Dinsdale, he was really good. He seemed to disappear after that movie I.D. Didn't realise it was the writer of Rising Damp.....but looking at it now the son character feels a lot like it could have been written for Richard Beckinsdale, Dinsdale even has similar speech inflections. Interesting. (edit) I just looked he's been in loads of stuff lol....I just don't really watch much tv.
Was Sheila married to John, when the episode with them together was made...l'm guessing yes, well acted by the both of them because they don't look like a couple, but they very much were together right up until his passing in 2002?. Even saying that is personally very poignant to me, because John, very much reminds me of my own father it is almost like being able to see him again the grey hair, the way it looks at the back of the head, the way John stands with hands in pocket, so that the jacket front is caught up on the back of the hands, the spread finger twisting hand jestures used in conversation lots and lots of similarities, sometimes when lecturing Matthew I can hear my father trying to make points with me Bottom line they were both good'uns. My dad loved watching John Thaw as Jack Reegan...and may have seen him as Uncle Tom, with snow white beard but I'm not very sure because he may have been old and too ill to be watching t.v when Thaw as old Tom took in the war time refugee, who might have been another Matthew...its sounds right, but I may be wrong about the little boys name.

What’s the opening theme 😂
A stylised version of "consider yourself" from Oliver! I would imagine.
Scritti politti ...Noise?
