The day was chosen because they probably thought it would be a nice "gift" to let people play during the holidays. I don't think they were anticipating all these issues otherwise they probably would have delayed until after the holidays.
i only played for the first 2 days as well, but i didnt quit because of the holidays. i quit because i was just running between mob camps trying to find one without multiple full parties camping every spawn. i might check it out again a few months after phase 3 starts
As a tester/backer of Alpha 1 who also played a lot in pre-alpha 2, I have to say I would do the same afk (event) xp farming at this point. The game has no real (and new) content at the moment and everything else has been tested in the last 5-6 months over and over again since the launch of pre-alpha 2. If they want to test specific systems, they should just test the specific content instead of expecting us to grind from 1-25 over and over again to test end-game content and wipe the servers over and over again. I tested A2 and uninstalled the game after 2 hours again. Mobs not respawning at the starter area, crashes, no xp until relogged multiple times and more that we had 5-6 months ago. My friends who supported the game have moved away, and I'm also burnt out, which I rarely have with games. I still get AoC videos recommended, so I watch them here and there, but there's no reason to log into this mess atm.
I agree 100%. Almost nothing changed between phases... Plus merging all realms into one per region is just pure chaos, finding free leveling spots is a pain in the ass and pvp for those spots is not always optimal, at all. I'm just playing a phase 1 with harder leveling experience. It is true that there's more PvP tho.
As I stated in the video. These exploits have been going on for months. They aren’t new, it just took intrepid this long to acknowledge it was a problem.
*Phase 2 is: Node Advancement, Economy Testing, and Vassaling.* *Also, everyone is out of the office for the Holidays.* *Intrepid is on a 6 week cadence so don't expect a whole lot more until ~Jan 31st.*
That's funny because lvl 4 Nodes are not in the build we're playing, a lot of Nodes have been artificially leveled up by Steven with admin commands and Vassaling doesn't exist either.
The game isn't real. They don't have shit. Why does it look vastly different than the streams? Character Creator is nowhere near what they showed, the world doesn't look as detailed. I'm over it

I keep forgetting this game is still a thing, idk why i keep thinking it died lol. Also wait, they wanted to ban anyone that kills a streamer but won't ban people who exploit the game...that's kinda funny.
If the game is being tested by alpha testers, you would think they WANT the testers to find (and report) the exploits. I don't understand this idea that they are running around in game trying to find exploiters and banning them. Shouldn't they be THANKING them for finding exploits? It's not live. It's an alpha test. I feel like it's a good thing that they are finding the exploits so the company can address and fix them. Better now than when the game is live.
The December date may have been chosen because they know people have more time to play over the holidays. That might not align well with the rest of their choices, but it would make some sort of sense.
Yup, it's pure marketing like pretty much every other deadline Intrepid sets. Alpha 2 coming out in 2024 at all was a mistake, but they set that deadline and wanted the cash influx of putting the keys back on sale again at a reduced price, and then dipped into the interested market of players by setting three different Phases to opt into. Phases weren't even a thing until just a month or two before Phase 1 - but at least they got to say that A2 was coming!
I think they should’ve created a single server just for this period that they were away for holidays letting ppl know this will be wiped on the 6th of January. That way ppl that are alone for holidays or whatever reason they have for wanting to play/test, can still have something to do/enjoy. If they wipe the servers now, I think ppl will not be happy at all. I personally wouldn’t mind, but I haven’t played 24/7
1, Why the start during the Holidays well what else started December 20th Pantheon Early Access. So Steven told them to start Dec.20 to Jan. 6 even when no one was working.
Why account action / ban vs fix the exploits? Its something that's confused me with the banning vs fixing an unfinished game still in alpha where people are ultimately testers.

@@RitchieSH Not picking at you specifically to be honest but you mentioning it prompted me, but this need to constantly balance out the "negative" with the "positive" from the AOC content creator community is indicative of a deeply flawed relationship and culture that Intrepid is trying to cultivate. That's a rubbish statement. If there should be any expectation, that we don't have to give feedback to anything, since it's just alpha and anyways in your opinion not relevant
As for people talking smack and verbally harrassing.... Use ignore? The game does have an ignore player feature? Honestly, I think people should be able to say whatever they want and other players can simply ignore their account. I don't think the company should be responsible for enforcing "proper" verbal discussions. I've seen Blizzard do this with WoW and it turned into an Orwellian nightmare where everyone pretends to be offended and reports you for simply talking politics or something goofy. All they needed to do was use ignore. But Blizzard condones this reporting and nowadays nobody speaks in chat because of the draconian terms of service. Trust me. You do not want this in Ashes of Creation. Just use ignore button and move on.
I feel like besides grinding until you can actually test content there is really not much to do. Yes combat and crafting are very good, but I the end it's a huge map with random mob hubs to grind. Yes I know alpha, but even for an alpha you could hope for more, no?
The man single handedly brought thousands of people into the game through his own content and Asmongold's reactions to it and Steven has consistently treated him like shit and constantly spreads toxic rumours about him because Narc had a principled stand on genuinely shady business practices. Stinks of egomania and gives me the ick. Seeing how the supposed head of this project is behaving made me just put it down and decide to come back when they brush up on the concept of professionalism.
@@madmarx912 I am sorry but NARC has lied. Have you not experienced SC? There are players in there that have spent thousands on a ship that they probably will not get for YEARS. Why are people surprised by an open development game being in a shit state? Also all the freaking people calling the game a pyramid scheme or MLM are just dumb and don't understand what a pyramid scheme is. The only thing I have agreed about that is kind of shady is the bans on reddit from Steven.
AFK farming is Intrepid's fault why do they allow it, just make it so that u have to participate, typing it on discord sand saying its against TOS is dumb asf
This game is designed for the 1%. It’s a HC mmo that’s unplayable if you don’t have minimum 30 hours a week to play. Of coarse the player base is gonna be toxic. The neck beards always are.
in short i didn't play the game but trust me when i say it isn't good. Verse someone like me who has played everyday since Dec 20th and the game has been great. Yes their are some standard EA issues but still plenty of things to do. And the skeleton crew have made several adjustments over the last few days.
That is why Ashes wont make it big because of the toxicity of pvp nolifers just look how they act now in alpha, the same will happen when game goes live, will have a decent pop but end up like Crowfall or at best like NW or Throne and Liberty.
I don't think an outright ban of exploiters is needed. Instead, suspend their accounts for 5 days on first offense, 2 weeks on second offense, and 1 month on third offense. And any subsequent exploits will get you 3 month bans repeatedly. Actually, the only exploit I think needs banning is when someone dupes because that destroys the economy of an entire server.
@@henrythegreatamerican8136 it definitely depends on the exploit. The guild wars one also wrecked the economy. People were abusing it for the rewards of rare resources such as copper. The using macros to stay logged in and afk farm events is straight up against Intrepids ToS as well. I don’t think intrepid should ban right off and give a warning, not everyone may realize they shouldn’t be doing it, but second time offenders are just doing it for ill intent
@@RitchieSH True, but a 1 to 3 month account suspension is a big enough hindrance in my opinion. And it would also keep the monthly income flowing into the game. Sure, a player can cancel their account during that ban. But in order to make those players hurt, make it so the account suspension only counts down when the account is active. And yes, I know players can start a new account. But later on when the game is more fleshed out and there is a lot for established players to lose, I don't think people will be as willing to sacrifice an account that is recognizable in the community.
Love seeing streamer "content creators" who's having a mental breakdown "playing" an alpha version of the "game". Hello Narc ha ha Seeing disappointed stubborn people is really a treat. Expecting this a full game LMAO. Stop buying into alpha just because of FOMO or Hype. Take a backseat, see streamers hit their heads on walls of bugs etc. buy into it when it's launched.
People exploiting things is actually a valuable part of alpha testing that needs to happen now and get exposed and corrected long before full launch. Really dont know why everyone is losing their mind over this. Did we expect there to be no exploits to be discovered and corrected? Thats like literally half of what alpha testing is.
This issue is they haven’t been corrected. The exploits have been around since the beginning, and don’t get fixed. Yes exploits are good to find/report/be fixed. But when it’s something like guild wars rewards that will wreck the economy and not provide accurate testing data, or item duplication that gives players OP gear and again wrecks the economy. That’s bad. Titans ring while on the lower end is still against ToS and if Intrepids terms of service is a joke to them why should anyone take it seriously?
@RitchieSH Steven has warned exploiters and griefers will be dealt with harshly. I tend to believe him. They seem to have an order of getting things corrected and its only been phase 1 where they had bigger fish to fry with server maintenance issues and other bugs to focus on. phase 2 hasn't really kicked off yet with it being Christmas break. I agree that they probably should have waited until after the holidays to launch phase 2. Also agree that the guild war rewards actually need to be fixed ASAP and should be a top priority.
He warned them in P1 too and they just got their levels reduced to 1. Seen it many times at titans ring. Even seen devs come in and de level people, just for them to do it all over again and never get banned. I agree in some situations they have bigger fish to fry, but they need to enforce their own rules, and be tough about it so set an example for when the game actually launches so we don’t have these issues
@@RitchieSHThe economy is irrelevant, it's an Alpha my guy. Outside of making sure the actual economic systems work, the exploits are beneficial until fixed. Which leads to the question, why haven't they been fixed???
the economy is already ruined by the guild war exploit farm after 1 week, the devs did nothing, the gold has already been laundered into their node upgrades and onto alts, the devs are powerless. ive lost interest
You do realize the guild war rewards were disabled almost immediately and half of the time it didn't work whenever it wasn't and people never got the rewards. Also it was only 40 silver per person at the cost of 5 gold
What is the fuss about having exploits on an ALPHA PHASE? Do you guys have the awareness that ALPHA IS A TESTING PHASE where PLAYERS/TESTERS are SUPPOSED TO FIND EXPLOITS? The only issue is that those players do not report the exploits to Intrepid. Intrepid can still make use of those players for finding exploits and monitor them closely to fix the exploits. Banning them now will just reduce the workforce and does nothing to help the testing phase. Alpha/Beta characters are wiped on full game release anyways, so exploitation during the two phases won't matter much. Just put those accounts on a blacklist/watchlist and if they continue to use exploits after full game release, then ban them. That would have actual consequences for those exploiters.
@@chrispek3912 finding an exploit, reporting it and moving on is fine. Finding one and continually abusing it with no repercussions because intrepid is just reducing levels is not. Take the guild wars exploit for example. Massive guilds using this exploit to gain the war rewards flooding the economy with rare materials. Now anything from crafting, gold, markets, node progression, anything using that resource is giving intrepid bad data on progression surrounding these things. Alpha or not bad data makes bad systems
@@RitchieSH You're missing the point of the OP. You should be actively trying to break anything and everything, over and over, because it's an ALPHA and that's what Alpha is for. Reported or not it's all logged, Steven even brags about the "all seeing eye" that's meant to catch exploiters. Some of you are spending too much time trying to experience the non-existent content and stream rather than actually test the game. That's why pay to test is a terrible idea.

Cant believe they pushed out narc like that
The man single handedly brought thousands of people into the game through his own content and Asmongold's reactions to it and Steven has consistently treated him like shit and constantly spreads toxic rumours about him because Narc had a principled stand on genuinely shady business practices. Stinks of egomania and gives me the ick. Seeing how the supposed head of this project is behaving made me just put it down and decide to come back when they brush up on the concept of professionalism.
@madmarx912 bro fuck Steven he is a power trip
@@madmarx912 Professionalism is why they never gave Narc any respect. Dude was bipolar and bad for business.
Narc is toxic AF. Good riddance tho
Then is gonna follow Crowfall
Ppl should be trying to break the game and finding exploits in alpha .... but ya there's line that can be crossed
in short i didn't play the game but trust me when i say it isn't good. Verse someone like me who has played everyday since Dec 20th and the game has been great. Yes their are some standard EA issues but still plenty of things to do. And the skeleton crew have made several adjustments over the last few days.
Looks like you will be playing the game on your own.
Also welcome to pvp in modern day mmo's, tends to breed toxicity real quick.
WoW is a game for everyone. Ashes of Creation is NOT for everyone.
Yeah, one was a finished product 20 years ago and one is still in alpha development.
Lame
the cheaters in this game is crazy there rely is no point in playing useless ur gonna cheat too
imagine calling someone AFKING exploiting.. how bout you fix your game?
Using macros to keep yourself logged in to farm events is 100% “afk exploiting” and also against the games ToS
Also it’s not my game I can’t fix it 😭
Love seeing streamer "content creators" who's having a mental breakdown "playing" an alpha version of the "game". Hello Narc ha ha
Seeing disappointed stubborn people is really a treat. Expecting this a full game LMAO. Stop buying into alpha just because of FOMO or Hype. Take a backseat, see streamers hit their heads on walls of bugs etc. buy into it when it's launched.
Can't see AoC ever launching.
You all act like your playing a real game LOL. It's alpha NOT a game get over it already.
@@ratri7777 “it’s an alpha” isn’t an excuse for violating ToS. If that was the mindset intrepid wouldn’t even reduce character levels 🙄
It's not even an alpha.
You lost Narc... and with him everyone who didnt already pay money for the game
i didnt lose narc, hes somewhere in the UK streaming from a mcdonalds or something
@@RitchieSH you as in the AoC comunity
Which leads to the question, why haven't they been fixed???
economy is not irrelevant though. Its data and feedback that is crucial to how the game actually performs. But that is the question
the economy is already ruined by the guild war exploit farm after 1 week, the devs did nothing, the gold has already been laundered into their node upgrades and onto alts, the devs are powerless. ive lost interest
You do realize the guild war rewards were disabled almost immediately and half of the time it didn't work whenever it wasn't and people never got the rewards. Also it was only 40 silver per person at the cost of 5 gold
🏜 😅
@@Guknowit remember these folks only play video games for a living so they are getting bored because they are playing an alpha and running out of content because they play 40 hours a week non stop. At the end of the day, if you enjoy the alpha or find bugs just report them.
Me personally money isn’t a problem so Idgaf that I paid $110. If people think they got scammed then they should be buying alphas lmao
@@RitchieSH I think you do not actually understand what an ALPHA PHASE is for. Jesus Christ.
@@Guknowit lol people are not "actively trying to break things" they are using already known exploits to farm pvp kills.
The big issue is y’all forgot is was an alpha!
Did he not show live streams saying Alpha will have them while the game looks shit, mf boosted sales for nothing to so for.... ok its an alpha right then why tf do we need to grind these broken ass mob so much.. phase 1 okay.. phase 2 same shit repeat ... ? why have phase 2 then
Imagine paying money to be in this "alpha".
