Hi Deb yes i sew the invisible zipper in along the side before is sew close to the teeth as well. It stops the zipper moving while stitching. Way better than pinning. Enjoy watching your videos. Lyn

I had really only seen the dress pictures and I don’t wear that many dresses so I had dismissed that pattern, but the top would be really cute. I recently bought 10 yards of a cotton lawn off Fabric Marts Sue’s deal for like $3/yard so I can toile several things and hopefully they will be wearable

I do love how I learn from your experience. I love the new dress and the inner waistband makes such sense. I also completely agree with you about stitch placements on wrap tops- I hate when it’s obvious. Sounds like it’s worth measuring pattern pieces before cutting this particular pattern out. The Fabric Godmother Fleur has gaping low armholes- I was devastated as I used special fabric. Learnt my lesson on that one. About to make my Bestie bag too!! Happy New Year😊. Lynne

Yes he’s threads Your zip is inserted like a vintage set up… they put theirs in the side a lot eh. And they never have it open in your arm… definitely have it fitted in eh! I understand the whole - don’t think it will fit … it looks gorgeous on you!! I have to do my zip on the right hand side cause I’m left handed and struggle when the zipper is on the left 🤣🤣 I sew mine in the same way. I have a left foot and right zipper foot. That viscoe twill has a lovely pattern Holy sanders fabric is nice and pretty. Ohhhh lovely Co-ord hun with the Tropicana Yes club trop. Do them first Happy New Year Hun 🥂🍾🎉🥂🍾🎉🦩🦩

Yes side zips used to be the way, I can understand you putting it in the right hand side, side zips can be difficult to do up by yourself. I noticed with your industrial machine you have the two different zipper feet, but they are nice and narrow so you can get really close to the zipper teeth. Here’s cheers to a fabulous 2025, Deb 🪡🧵💕🥳

I didn’t put the pockets in mine in the end as they were on the high hip and I thought it added bulk so I took them out. Totally agree with you about problem with gaping armholes - so disappointing when you get to that stage and your bra is showing. Your dress is beautiful. Would love to see your invisible zipper technique being demonstrated by you ( I have a fear of zipper insertion). Thank you for the link
@@marlenede-abel1336 Hi Marlene, yes gapping armholes and the older you get the less you want hanging out, a few of my daughters wouldn’t care, that’s because they are tanned and smooth and young 😂😂. I will do an invisible zipper insertion this year, but I want to insert it into the middle of the seam to show how to use this method, I always start my students off with a lap zipper insertion, just did one last week and it was only her 5th lesson and she did really well. Your dress looks absolutely gorgeous. I made the Abby dress with the bottom frill. Next time I make it I will make it without the frill. I have made the Tammy Hand made top twice, both times it was to large be careful. Love what you are about to make . Happy New Year hope you have a great 2025.

The hand sewing in the video gets taken out, first I apply the interfacing tape, then I machine sew the seam, part that will have the zip exposed in a long stitch, then I hand sew, the outer tape, then machine sew the outer tape, then take out the seam which is the long length stitching, Machine sew next to the teeth, the. Remove the hand stitching. Seems like a long process but it makes the zipper sit perfectly. Hope you and Rob have a great New Year, Deb 🪡🧵💕🥳

@@noeleengayjess8416 Hi Noeleen, it is a YKK medium duty invisible zip, these ones have the cotton zipper tape which I prefer to the nylon tape, I thin’ it is much more secure and doesn’t tend to break as easily. I buy them from a jack Stock in Moorabbin online, Deb 🪡🧵💕🥳
@ Hi Noeleen, I think I bought mine from madamsew.com it could also be handy for bag sewing if you need to get close to an edge that is bulky, it’s called an adjustable zipper foot, Deb
I’ve heard Americans use coke cola to soften fabric but NZ has a different recipe apparently. I tried it and it stained my fabric. Would like to get some coke for USA to see what happens. I don’t use fabric softener either. I’ve got a pointe fabric and it’s truly hard to say what colour it is. Did you get that charcoal fabric from Kristen?
