      Thanks Alexander! I wish I could say there's a quick easy way to learn to fly like this but it really comes down to flying a lot of packs and practice. Try and fly as smoothly each time you go out as it makes the flight more enjoyable to watch.

      Thanks Joel! Once in a while I catch a perfect morning to float fly and I was lucky that morning. If I can get out by 7am it can be pretty awesome at times. As for the train horns, to be honest, I didn't really notice them when I was flying as we hear them quite regularly when we fly there. It wasn't until I played back the video to edit it that I noticed they we rather loud. I decided it was ok as they emphasize just how quiet the little Turbo Timber Evo really is while in the air.

      The UMX Turbo Timber has been a bit of a time machine for me. It has allowed me to go back and fly at a few of the schoolyards I grew up flying control line and model rockets at with my buddies.

      Thanks CR5! I'm fortunate this spot is available to fly and is only 10 minutes from my house. Not quite as convenient as your flying sites but pretty good for this area. The only thing about flying there is that I need to get there early as the park starts getting busy by 8:00. I was there around 7am to get this video.

    Michael, awesome flight as always. I love watching your flights and learning from you. I flew mine this week on floats for the first time. I found it a bit tail heavy with them and a 2S 700mAh or 800mAh battery seemed to work best. Is that consistent with your experience? Even my 3S 450mAh was tail heavy.

    Hi Michael. Your flying is inspirational - I don't know how you get it all so rock-steady! Can I ask - do you have particular transmitter settings for your slow rolls, 4-point rolls etc? Any mixes, or low or high rates of expo? Or is it all simply in smooth stick control? Thanks

    • @michaelclinerc3211
      @michaelclinerc3211  Рік тому

      Thanks! I do not use any mixes or high/low rates and I am flying it with the maximum control surface deflection I can get. Because of this I fly with 50% to 60% expo to smooth the response around center. Other than that just lots of practice. The significance of the 4-point roll is that it was the first precision aerobatic maneuver I was taught and mastered and it is the foundation for slow rolls, 8-point rolls, rolling circles, rolling loops, etc.

    • @juststollingaround6050
      @juststollingaround6050 Рік тому

      @@michaelclinerc3211 Thanks Michael. I'd never thought to use that much expo. Just dialled in 50% expo on a simulator and it made an immediate difference to the neatness of my slow rolls.

      Is it just listed as a "generic" umx floats? Or are there floats SPECIFICALLY made for the UMX TURBO TIMBER EVOL?? thanx for any advice.. Really want to place my order.. Great video!

    Michael - How do you manage the throttle, rudder and elevator on take off? I have been hand launching because I am afraid of tippng over

    • @michaelclinerc3211
      @michaelclinerc3211  Рік тому

      After thousands of float plane flights in the past 50 years I’m fortunate that it is automatic for me and I don’t really think about it when I take off the water.

    • @holdfastrc

      As soon as you throttle on and begin moving forward, apply elevator. Use rudder just to steer it. Drop flaps to at least 50% as well. Stay on the elevator until you're UPPame viola.

    Since you've flown both, does this feel better than the new Air Tractor? Really like the Air Tractor but kind of disappointed it doesn't have the ball links this has. Plus you can't use floats, yet they cost the same.

      I really, really like both the Air Tractor. They fly very similar but the UMX Turbo Timber is set up to accept floats. I will probably modify my Air Tractor to accept floats at some point.
