  • Many color LED light bulbs use colored plastic over white LEDs to give you their coloration. These filament style LED bulbs generate the colored light right from the LEDs or a phosphor coating for an intense coloration. Watch and see if these bulbs are any good.

    Beautiful vibrant colors. While they may appear overly harsh to the old timers who partied around incandescent "party bulbs ", this fact alone highlights just how inefficient they really were. (The same principle applies to LED party bulbs that use a colored glass over a standard 2700 - 3000K LED filament, and to a smaller extent, the mercury vapor blacklights, commonly found in the 125 watt and 400 watt sizes)
    Since a mercury vapor blacklight is internally identical to a standard clear or coated version, with the other bulb made from woods glass, and because the mercury vapor arc emits a considerable amount of energy in the UV and near UV spectrum, this actually makes them a fairly efficient source of blacklight, although it runs much hotter than other clear HID lamps since most of the visible light and virtually all infrared is absorbed.

    They should put warm white leds in and then color the glass. That would look a lot better and softer.

    Awesome bulbs, but I am a bit concerned about the ultraviolet bulb. I heared ultraviolet light is harmful to humans

      Ultraviolet light comes from the sun. We are very well adapted to sunlight.

      "UV light causes the body to produce vitamin D. The human body needs some UV radiation in order for one to maintain adequate vitamin D levels. UV rays also treat certain skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema. It's over exposure to UV light that can be harmful." - Wikipedia

    Feit color leds also sold at my local Lowe’s and they just had a bunch of 2 packs of green and red one green one red of these bulbs for the holiday season and the only thing I can see that is different than the individual colors is the ones in the 2 pack are not dimmable can’t understand why feit would have more than one assembly line just for the 2 packs. If your going to sell them in 2 pack why not just use the dimmable ones they are the same size and everything! I would actually rather have the dimmable version anyway I could buy the individual colors then they would be dimmable but I just don’t understand why the exact bulb in a two pack is not dimmable it specifically says on the box not dimmable though the bulb itself doesn’t say dimmable or not dimmable but the writing etching on the bulbs side-by-side one is black and one golden color The golden etching I believe is the non-dimmable I have to doublecheck but I don’t want to mix them up with the dimmable ones then have The non-dimmable one blow

    The orange LED light bulb reminds me of the high pressure sodium light bulbs that are used in street light fixtures.

    • @chrisbailey7384

      Gosh, I really miss those high pressure sodium streetlights! They gave off such a soft pleasant amber/peach light opposed to the harsh bluish LED street lights we have now.

      I wish they used that orange LED to those street lights that would mimic perfectly to the sodium lights we grew up with.

    It’s a pity that many filament LED bulbs flicker terribly.

    • @MusicalBox
      @MusicalBox 6 років тому

      Do you actually own filament LED bulbs that flickers ? I have a few at home of different brands and have no problems at all.

    • @honich-eriker
      @honich-eriker 6 років тому

      I check if LEDs flicker before I buy them by reading reviews or finding it out by myself in a local store. So no, I don’t own flickery filament LED bulbs.
      But I see them flicker en masse in restaurants, home decoration stores and DIY markets. (The same applies to Christmas lights, but that’s not the topic here ;-)).

    • @MusicalBox
      @MusicalBox 6 років тому

      Are you in Europe ? The AC there is 50 Hz. So a bit slower than here in America at 60 Hz. I think I've read somewhere that this causes LED lights to appear more "flickery"over there.

    • @honich-eriker
      @honich-eriker 6 років тому

      Yes, I live in Europe. It doesn’t matter if a LED is flickering at 100 or 120 Hz - both frequencies are low enough to annoy me. I even can see low-wattage (< 40 W) incandescent and halogen bulbs flickering in certain conditions, so I seem to be more sensitive to flicker than the average. As a conclusion, I only buy LED bulbs with high-frequency drivers.
