    I just bought the gen 3 pro with no experience in sharpening any knives. The instructions on the website/ booklet are easy to follow and in less than 15 minutes I had a super sharp blade. Can't wait for the stones to break in to get to that next level. The price was shocking at first but the results don't lie. Well worth the money!

      MurkyBlaze.....dont' to get to excited about the stones breaking in because once they are broken in they are basicly worn out and it will take for ever to get a good edge to start refining for a razor edge. If you want a mirror polish like people show ask how long it took........ to get a finish like that takes hours and if you dont keep a constant touch up it looses it in about 3 butchering of goats. I am only being totally honest with my findings and by no means are saying the wickededge is no good in fact it is excelleent for keeping the same angles time after time after time .

    Thanks for this Clay. I fish the great lakes & have many fillet knives for different fish. Your tips will really come in handy for sharpening them. By the way I did a youtube video on a Smoked rainbow trout White chili you might like. It is fantastic chili.

      @@WickedEdgePrecisionSharpeners Sure here it is. I just ordered from Kyle 2 more sets of stones & low angle clamp today. This is from my youtube channel (not the best at video taking & editing). Smoked Steelhead/Rainbow trout white chili. for doing a lot of fillet knives, I'll assume the best overall kit is the Pro Pack 3, if I was to choose one?

      The Pro Pack 3 is definitely our top of the line.

      @ClayAllisonNM 2 роки тому

      @@CaptDavesSportfishing it's available on smaller models but it's not particularly effective. We have another video on sharpening flexible blades you might like and the method doesn't really on the stabilizer.

      @@ClayAllisonNM oh okay. I'm watching all the videos. Want to make best decision. Torn between the ease of the Gen 3 pro (and add more stones etc.) and Pro pack 3. Thanks for the help.

    I use boning knives at work which are very flexible and I've been getting very disappointing results with Wicked Edge (certainly nothing like what you showed at the end of this video). Anyway I'm glad to see that flexible and low height knives are a particular issue.

      Please try using some of these techniques and I think you'll find better results. How old is your system?

    I would buy a gen 3. But the cost is very cost prohibitive. And after the initial cost the replacement and additional stones are just stupid expensive. I could handle the initial cost but I can't justify the cost of the stones and I don't think you can either..

    • @WickedEdgePrecisionSharpeners
      @WickedEdgePrecisionSharpeners  4 роки тому

      The stones last a long time. Customers often tell us that they get many hundreds of sharpening sessions from each set of stones.

    • @ClayAllisonNM
      @ClayAllisonNM 3 роки тому

      Yes, depending on the knife and how high the edge is above the top of the vise jaws. The edge needs to be 5/8" or 0.625" from the tops of the jaws.

  • @dudekiwi

    Haha makes me laugh. Here you are with flash cam loc vises yet your go to is the manual hand loc! I hate to say it but the hand loc is 99% better than my cam self centering. I am on my second cam lock but my knifes still start moving after several (maybe 20 - 50 swipes) with the 200 grit stones. I haven't made a fuss because of Covid and it is just a hassle so I live with it for now .....until its so unbearable i will post another youtube clip

    • @WickedEdgePrecisionSharpeners
      @WickedEdgePrecisionSharpeners  4 роки тому

      @@HugeElvis2022 It depends on the model you have. If you have the WE130, then yes, it's very easy to swap them out.

      Each vise has it's purpose for sure, that's why we sell both kinds. Have you tried putting a little painters tape on the blade to keep it from slipping? Have you tried turning up the tension adjustment? Don't worry about COVID, we're working and taking care of people and will help out however we can.

    • @HugeElvisDog
      @HugeElvisDog 4 роки тому

      Thanks for the tip on using tape. I'll try that. Messed with tension some, but will continue to try. Not sure what model I have. Blue with lever to adjust both side angles and has a black stand that also hold the stones on the shelves.
