    I am a paramedic and saw a person shot in the chest and neck with a pellet gun and actually killed the person. One shot was lucky enough to enter between the ribs and bury itself in the heart, and the shot to the neck tore a major blood vessel and did damage the trachea. Bottom line: they can kill!

      +Nowel Garcia Definitely scary to see that wound and examine what happened! Thanks for sharing FACTS and your valuable experience! It is nice to see these real life experience stuff and finally can nuke some dumbass who always say "airguns are just toys, they cannot kill ya". People don't understand the dangerous of these things until they are shot by one like in that incident of yours! Scary shit!

      @wilfred137 9 років тому +9

      +Nowel Garcia My guess is that was likely a pellet rifle traveling at a velocity of well over 500 fps. Some go 600 - 1200 fps. Which is technically a firearm in Canada and many other countries. I dont think a BB pistol going at 350 fps will come even close to that damage. Which IMO is a good thing. Still, I would not consider a bb pistoleven at 350 fps a toy though, can still be dangerous yes. Lethal no.

    • @Chiinnature
      @Chiinnature  9 років тому +26

      +Billy Beam metal bb traveling around the 300-400fps can also penetrate skin but won't have enough energy to go deep enough to do that kinda damage. However, if a pistol like that is shot to the face, it is another story. I have heard of a gangsta guy shot another guy with a cp99 with some wadcutters and 3 shots to the face, the guy is down the ground with 1 eye permanently gone.So.. not like it is not gonna hurt! Lethal or not might depend on the shot placement only! Always treat them like a firearm is the best safety tips for all gunners!

    Excellent video I enjoyed every bit of it. I am a security agent and work with real guns and rifles and even I cannot dismiss the use of pelet amo cause it has STOPING power. I like CO2 guns with 400 fps or more ( great punch as you say). But I started thinking about bb's: I came to the idea that if you practice well and can consistently place shot to a tight area, you can consecutively place 3 or 4 rounds to a persons head zone ( without piercing, only impact) and still obtain a decent stoping momentum because of pain. Even bb guns have the warning label you mention. Wish you many more victories in your life 😠👍💥

    BECAUSE OF YOU! I learned so much I totally reversed my earlier decisions on what to buy and now I own a CP99 which every review out there says is one of the best guns I could have chosen. Your video was very informative, logical and just made a lot of sense. I've never left a comment before, but the usefulness of your information saved the day for me and I wanted to let you know how much your video helped me. Thank you.

    I know this is an older video; but you’ve got my interest. I was also an RN-paramedic for 15 years before my 3rd year of Med School. While regular guns are legal here; we had a lot of parents buying these for their kids for target practice. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS! While they’re not as lethal as a 38; someone hit in the “wrong place”, CAN BE as lethal as a regular gun! Like the paramedic below, I’ve also seen far too many pediatric accidental shootings. Very early in my career, while a single mom with a 4yr old; I almost gave up my entire future after attending numerous GSW deaths, and severe injuries of young, under 15, children in less than a month. To say I became an over-protective mom is an understatement. After my former professor counseled me, we decided instead of burning out, I would fight our State for laws to protect future children. We were successful with helping to push a law requiring parents to keep both types as well as some other potentially dangerous weapons NOT MEANT FOR CHILDREN, in locked drawers or gun cabinets. It wasn’t easy, but the parents of the severely injured or deceased children allowed us to show graphic pictures of what we saw when arriving on scene, and many of these parents gave testimony in our behalf. All except 2 of over 30 severe injuries and deaths were “accidental”, including a few 3 and 4 year olds who picked up their parents loaded guns and thought it was a toy.
    ON THE OTHER HAND; for someone like me, older, living alone in a rural area; I would MUCH prefer to get one of these air guns. I had a small 38 for MANY years, I gratefully never had to use for anything except target practice. But, I had it IF I needed it, and kept it close to me, but safety on and out of sight. No one here even knew I had it, but it was found and stolen when I was in the hospital and my house was burglarized and ransacked when I was gone. I was scared to death for awhile that they would come back, but luckily the person was caught, with my gun, just a week later. My other fear was that he might use it on someone else, or accidentally on himself. I would feel MUCH safer having one of these.
    A few of the injuries I’ve seen with these air/pellet guns and rifles? Eye, through the orbital, 1mm from the brain. Lost the eye, required reconstructive surgery. 2 missing toes on a 15 yr old who was so excited about having his own air rifle-he SLEPT with it, LOADED! The toes were so mangled, they had to be amputated and required intricate foot surgery to save his foot. I’ve seen other face shots, one near death when he ruptured his temporal artery. I’ve seen these lead pellets lodge in the lungs and abdominal organs. I know there was more, but those are ones I remember.
    Personally, I think training, including safety training, SHOULD BE REQUIRED. You are correct, these are NOT “toys” and Any child, if you want to teach them to shoot, start with SAFETY BEFORE TARGET practice; and ALWAYS Use with CLOSE supervision!
    YOU’re also correct towards the end-one thing I learned in 6 weeks of law enforcement/gun safety; was often a robber or attacker can be frightened away just by the sight of a gun! One more constant: more homeowners are shot with their own weapons than the robber or attacker shot in self-defense. If you’re getting one for protection, 1. Realize this and 2. Learn other means of self defense! These things can be perfect for many people; they can also be a blast to target practice with. Just NEVER underestimate the damage that can be done, and STAY SAFE, for your sake as well as others!

      I do agree the guns are deadly weapons - but it's just the same as kitchen knives. Passing laws about those guns must be locked in cabinet shit is non-sense to me, why not just lock your knives in kitchen too then? Kids are fucked up because of parenting, not because the law. The fucked up parents are morons themselves then that lead to stupid kids. I have friends who have kids and they shoot firearms and keep firearm at home, no problem. Why? Because the parents can teach them how to deal with these things first and show them the dangerous side of guns before they are brainwashed by movies or cartoons. It all comes down to parenting and not being stupid, not laws. Laws? do they protect us? NOT so much. I was surprised how useless law was when I was a victim before, and I had evidence, but the cops were the stupid pigs who can't do the job right and end up I have to defend for myself. So, making more laws just makes it harder for normal people to be armed and protect themselves, but the criminals don't give a fuck about laws, they buy guns from blackmarket or just smuggle one from somewhere and there goes a break in case or a shooting. Who cares about law when they decide to be a criminal? Duh.

    Thanks a lot! That was the most useful, informative video I've ever seen on that topic. Too often the people that talk about guns ignore the practical aspects and never discuss self defense as if you really might need to cause harm. Your explanation about why you selected the gun you carry and where best to aim for made perfect sense. No pussy footing about, you went straight for the head which I've always thought was the best target on a human to cause the most pain and/or damage. After all 'self defense' should mean exactly that, in other words, its not something to talk about lightly because if you really are in danger from another person, they'll likely be fairly close by and the circumstances unequivocal enough that no one is going to bicker about why you chose to use a gun to incapacitate them. ONLY in a case where its them or you but in those circumstances, yes, you should aim for their face as the pain alone and disorientation should be enough to disarm them from further attacks.

    Pretty cool lecture. Never would have thought about air/co2 guns as self-defense consideration, sometimes just having a firearm that people can see defers an attack. I was driving home on I81 in Virginia when a young man in a huge RAM truck began following me - I tried to get away from him - even exited the Interstate, but he followed me. I stopped at a gas station and he pulled right next to my door, hemming me inside my own car. Him and his girlfriend evidently thought that my old age self and my 99 E320 Benz were causing him some grief, and as God is my Witness I have NO IDEA why this man was chasing me down the interstate and off onto a gas station! ANYWAY - by the time he leaned around his girlfriend to yell at me thru his truck glass, I had my 357 magnum, the nickel plated version, aimed at the roof of my car - not pointing at them at all. I shouted, "LEAVE ME ALONE" thru my 1/2 down window. The young woman's eyes actually GOGGLED. I've never seen anyone's eyes do this before, but the SIGHT of the weapon they must have pissed themselves and he hit the gas and roarted out of there. LEaving me sitting in my Benz, in the gas station. A man at the station came over and asked if I was okay. I was fine, my nerves were very rattled, but the sight of a pistol and those two were long long gone. I suppose they never expected a grey haired old woman in a Benz to be armed. Thank God for Our Second Amendment and Concealed Weapon Permits! This is a great alternative also! Enough shot pounded at one - to discourage and attack - all the BETTER! No, I would not have shot those people, but I would have shot out his RAM TRUCK TIRES!! ANd phoned the police!

    I studied and done many experiments on this subject. What is my conclusion? The answer is yes but only if (1) you shoot the bad guy in the face or the neck. If you can’t, at least in the head when he has no hat or hood (2) choose the most powerful pullets (3) I use the 10 shots revolver with extra 4 clips in my pocket. I always put the cartridge inside ready to screw in to use. You can shoot them comfortably by holding the metal handle and without putting back the plastic handle.(4) I use it if only when I didn’t need to use my real gun to kill some one or when I don’t have a real one on hand for some reasons.

    My Asian friend, this is a very, very well done presentation on self-defense with a pellet firing airgun. It's obvious you've done your research on this topic. As for the school boy you spoke of who suffered and died after being shot in the chest, there's a serious chance the pellet's impact did serious damage to his aorta which is actually closer to the surface of the body's truck than people think and if the aorta is shocked enough or ruptured, it can cause death pretty damn quick and penetration is not necessary. Yes sir, this is a really good, very informative presentation. BTW, I can see you are a serious collector of weapons of war looking at your wall and the background behind you. Thanks for sharing this information and for the sincere effort in putting this together.

      if your weapon has a very high muzzle velicity, 1300 fps+ and your target is at very close range, then yes, this might be slightly more effective at close range, but with air guns, typically penetrarion is the goal as the light weight of the round vastly decreases the potential momentum and and quite probably at more than 5 feet, assuming the intruder doesnt stand perfectly still and allow you to take careful sim, the pellet would likely bounce off of the intruder if loaded backwards and probaly do nothing more than wake up tomorrow and say ouch, thats a bit tender, after hes murdered you.

    You made very good points, but the purpose of these in a self defense situation would be at close range 5-6 ft the idea being to hit someone wear skin is exposed ie the neck or face. That being said if you hit your assailant in the face with 2-4 shots he’s not gonna stick around for more. The most important thing is to be committed and focused as to your actions.

    ***** The 520 fps with steel BBs vs Pellet is a big difference. The thing is, the FPS is just velocity but if you combine the mass, BBs are lighter and so it will produce less impact on the target (less energy). I will never trust a Daisy Powerline for a job like this though, it's not reliable and daisy guns are more like cheapos class, poor quality built.

    • @rogergurman1570
      @rogergurman1570 9 років тому +1

      +Chiinnature I know it's a year old but the fact that steel BB is lighter than lead pellet doesn't necessarily mean it has less of a penetration. The problem with lead is that it is soft, so that extra energy it carries due to its weight will actually be lost on pellet's deformation. Of two projectiles with the same kinetic energy the harder one penetrates better.

    • @cetriemmmmm7177
      @cetriemmmmm7177 8 років тому

      +Roger Gurman l got a .25 cal breakbarrel capable of 30+fpe. the " soft" lead ammo it shoots weights 28 grains. now, just imagine what would be like if someone gets shot in the body with something like that. And the reason why hunting slugs are made of lead is exactly because of deforming while traveling through the flesh. lt makes way more damage.

    • @rogergurman1570
      @rogergurman1570 8 років тому

      +Cetriem Mmmm We're not talking about dealing more damage, we're talking about penetration. Penetration depends upon three things: projectile's energy, projectile's hardness and impact surface. Whatever potent damage .25 cal lead projectile deals, a steel projectile of same caliber would deal just as much damage and exhibit higher penetration, provided their kinetic energy is more or less the same.
      One could argue that pointy lead pellets should have higher penetration than steel BBs due to smaller impact surface, but tests show that because of lead pellet's softness the penetration is about the same. And flat-headed lead pellets have little to no penetration whatsoever, unless you consider penetrating paper or cardboard an achievement.
      Slugs are made of lead because a) at high velocities that firearm ammo has it's not that big of a difference where penetration of soft tissue is concerned and b) shotgun barrels narrow at the end, so I think using hard projectiles could be dangerous.

    This may have been brought up but I am adding it anyway. The PT 85 or any blowback gives a realistic impression upon draw when you cock it back and say whatever you say to try to defuse the situation. Depending on the circumstance the fear factor could enough without actually having to pull the trigger at the target. Or even to make a shot or two to the side for warning.
    I would like to hear what other people think of the value of simulating realism in a quick unexpected situation?

    I do not have a pellet pistol, but I do have a tiny firearm pistol in .22LR that I deploy the same way. 40 grains of lead going maybe 600-700 fps from a 1 inch barrel is not much better than a pellet so the same strategies as described in this video apply.

      @@waynedavis2505 A high majority of gun fights end with the first shot no matter the caliber. Most people shot with a .22 are not going to keep attacking.
      According to FBI statistics, a single shot from a .22 has almost a 90% chance of stopping an attacker. 9mm and above have a slightly higher chance of ending a fight with a single shot, while a rifle cartridge from .223 and above or shotgun have a near 100% success rate of ending a fight with a single shot. .22 is cheap and easier to handle than other calibers. Unless you're expecting someone with body armor, .22 should be sufficient for self defense.

      @@sakura608 You are all trying to inform me of what i already know. The drawback i can see with .22 is it being rimfire ammo and subject to misfire. A .22 fired from a pistol even if the box claims 1,200 or 1,400 feet per second out of a 6 inch barrel they are only doing about 650 to 800 fps with a maximum weight of 40 gr. it will have little shock power. Don't get me wrong here that little bullet will cut a nasty little chanel and cause great pain. I carry a .22 when i'm packing light but i have a .9mm and .44 mag when i'm feeling a little less casual. Go with what feels right and use your head. I stand with what i said because it's fact, a .22 is NOT recommended for self defence. However the sailors have a saying, any port in a storm will do.

    • @Chiinnature
      @Chiinnature  9 років тому +1

      +papaburger It will not work because even with lead balls, the weight is just 8.4gr and .177 cal is way too small. You will be having a lot of energy density which will pinch the target but you will have very low momentum which is in "slug feet per second". Therefore, no matter pellet or lead ball, it will not work and wont stop anyone. You will ouch the target, but not drop them or stop them. Some people get shot by a pellet gun even feel it a few seconds after the shot... it's not a good idea. No ballisitic gel test required because we are not even giving a shit about penetration here. you want "stopping power" for self defense, not penetrate. Even your lead ball can penetrate through flesh, it wont go deep enough to the organs anyway, so it is a waste of time to even test penetration. For stopping power, you need a much greater mass, and that is why I recommend people using this --> ua-cam.com/video/2scuB3B6HwQ/v-deo.html

    People don’t seem to understand that pellet or B.B. guns can kill. We’re not encouraging people to deliberately buy pellet or B.B. gun for the soul purpose of self defense. With guns like these, placement and speed is very important factor. Where you hit perpetrator got hit and how fast (penetration) it’s traveling. EYES, NECK, HEART, EARS. I have pellet guns with BBs and pellets in magazines, CO2 also sitting in place but not punctured yet. If so needed, just one twist and I’m good to go. 😂😂

My other option is Umarex XBG with TAC converter kit that does not have much power but should be very funny besides being able to customize it. Good video, long but entertaining! I have a 9XP BB gun and I shoot it in the basement, I have a target set up, a circle 5.5 inches in diameter, and I always hit it from about 23 feet away. I think it can be a very deadly gun at point-blank range, which 90% of confrontations and robberies happen. I have carried it a few times. It's also a very loud BB gun too, it gets pretty cold in the basement and that effects the Co2 because my pellet gun is ridiculously loud so if someone tried to do something stupid, I think the loudness of it aside from the shock of getting shot, will definitely scare them off, especially if they are junkie crackheads, their bones are brittle anyway, so I could only imagine the damage a BB gun will do at point-blank range will do!! Come get some crackheads!!!!

      no good. PT 85 is a blowback gun, and because of blowbck you lack power. It's a nice gun but for what purpose? Don't expect "power" from these (not for defense), and they are more like just another plinkling gun. Realism-wise, it's shit. The problem is the Co2 (1) in the gun to fire the pellets at FAST RATE = disaster in terms of power consistancy. If there are like only 8 shots a clip, the time you change clip allows the Co2 to return back to normal. But with that many shots in a clip, you will be firing fast, and the Co2 will freeze up fast, which means very inconsistent. However, if you shoot slower, it will work too. Just never rapid fire if you want good shots.

      they all suck for self defense - first they are weak, and second is they are heavy, and third is only 8 friggin WEAK shots that deliver no stopping power. Not a good idea. The tech side of it is, The springs on the walter and beretta is very much prone to fail soon or later because they get weaked so fast, with some more practice shooting, your hammer gets weak and your double action shooting will really suck and go down in power even more. The colt 1911 really suck, I have 2 and they both fail the same way after some playing, the gun cannot fire anymore due to the hammer issue. The only good one out of the expensive umarex is the revolver, 586 or 686, they stay strong and perform well after torture testing and abuse shooting, and still shoot straight and nice, but still not a self defense option. If you want a real man stopping and close to lethal option, try my all time favorite - ua-cam.com/video/06XtC52K50k/v-deo.html - see the result yourself... no pellet gun can do that (at least not a replica gun)

    • @Chiinnature
      @Chiinnature  8 років тому

      ua-cam.com/video/06XtC52K50k/v-deo.html - a proof of power for you. T8.1 tuned maxed power 28-30 joules, shooting 6.2 grams bulls breaker balls, hard as hell, break bones. The TIPX when tuned max cannot even give you a 16j stable performance, forget it, that thing is only good for pepperballs and not for power. The Tippmann TCR is better, 20-24j when tuned to high power, stable performance, but it does get picky with tweakings and barrel upgrades etc. T8.1, T9.1, T4.1 are the only 3 that works for high power shooting at 28-30j mark for stable performance. The BT Dfender works too, but expensive, and hard to tweak to the sweet spot of 28-30j mark. For carry, T8.1 is the only option in the market now, tested so many guns and I don't see any paintball pistol or rifle matching the same power. T8.1 is sold for military as the FN303P for the military to use at 25j settings, but you can really get it up to 30j easily to be honest, just that they are trying to boost sales for the rifle FN303 so they mark the rifle 30j and the pistol 25j to try to make it look like the pistol is weaker lol

      some guns like the cp99 and such are okay to store with co2 for 3+ months. I have tried it already, but then you can always shoot the co2 on the weekend for practice, and then gas it up again for 7 days. No harm,... and no gas will leak out slowly, unless your seals are bad and dried up.

      Chiinnature if you want to store for self defense surely you can insert cartridge but not screw up all the way? Then in time of need you take a few seconds to insert cartridge first. Extra time may be bad, but better than having no gas...

    I have a crosman vigilante revolver. Is it better to aim at the person to scare them off with this gun, or is it powerful enough to shoot them and disarm them?

    It is kind of like saying a Motorcycle is much better than a Bicycle, and it is. However, usually a Bicycle totally beats walking.
