*VISTA CA QUICK NEWS* you are right, back on the 90's VHX3 were strong af with Arellano Felix's backup, right now gangbanging on Whole SD is almost extinct, but Vista still has a strange vibe so it's not one of the "nicest" cities on San Diego
So looks like half the comments say Vista is “ghetto” and sucks. Others say it’s beautiful. I’m thinking of moving there. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated! :)
All i can tell you is i grew up there and left and came back and it's getting worse in terms of poverty and crime. I don't know if you have kids but vista schools are terrible and youd want to put them in a private school if you want them to get ahead in life
To get a good feel of the city you should drive along all of east vista way, Santa fe drive, and melrose. Youll get a feel of what youd be in a for. It's not the worst place ever, it's just not that great and it seems to be going downhill. Where are you coming from though?
likeliterally I'm coming from the SF Bay Area. It's too crowded and too expensive up here so going south. I live in a nice area but there are pockets of very poor and ghetto neighborhoods close by. But they're segregated from my neighborhood by creeks and freeways. We have one of the highest average property value and at the same time one of the highest homeless population in the country. I imagine most cities are similar where some parts are decent and others are ghetto. Just want to make sure Vista is overall a decent place and I can learn to avoid the bad neighborhoods :)
ok. well the area you mentioned moving to is not bad at all and there are a lot of nice houses in that area. you could easily do your shopping in san marcos which seems to have been getting better before i left 2 years whereas vista is just not doing that great in my opinion. the decent areas are the east area where you are considering moving to (buena creek area and that whole semi-rural area east vista area) and the shadowridge area south of highway 78. honestly almost the rest of it is now a dump. driving around town you will see what i mean. the area you are thinking about moving to is mixed white/hispanic and the shadowridge area is mixed too but all neighborhoods in town are majority lower class hispanic. it shouldn't matter, but depending on what race and class you are you could feel uncomfortable/awkward in some areas of town.
likeliterally thanks for your insight. I’m white and my wife is Mexican. We’re ok with Hispanic neighborhoods. To be honest I’m not sure I could survive without good tacos :) We’ll be heading down for a visit mid January so we will take time to see all areas and get a good feel. Thanks again.

Don’t spend your money in vista, spend it in north city, they will be the downtown San Diego, of north county by 2032. Spend $500,000 on a condo now, and by 2032 it should be a million or more!
