"Empty the clip!" "That's what suppose to happen!"
Kevin Spacey was on the top of his game in this movie.. A masterpiece in acting.
I saw this movie when it came out in theaters. The ending genuinely shocked people in the audience.
"I'm starting to see what you guys meant by disturbing"
As the movie comes to a close
Yeah, seems to me like you'd figure that out by Gluttony, which is the first murder. And I think Lust is the worst one by far.
One of the most darkest endings in cinema history
Addie "what's in the box?"
exactly 😂
Morgan Freeman is so good in this scene, even though the focus is obviously Brad Pitt and Kevin Spacey. You can see the exact moment he realizes there's nothing he can say and Mills is going to kill John Doe.
All three of them are putting on a master class in acting. Director David Fincher is putting on a master class in where to point your camera, and editor Richard Francis-Bruce is putting on a master class in when to show the audience what they need to see.
This sequence of shots and close ups and expressions could play without any audio and you'd still be able to read the outline of the story.
Ever since I saw this movie all those years ago.... .
For me.. best part of the movie is when John Doe says.....
With that little smirk
"Oh He Didn't Know"🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Right before Mills shoots John Doe, you can see, for a split second, the face of Mills' wife. Genius move to show the audience what the last thing was that went through Mills head before he send multiple bullets through John Doe's head.
They were originally going to show the head in the box but then decided not to show it. They wanted to add to the suspense of the scene. The head was even made and was used years later in the movie Contagion.
I think I heard from
Somewhere that the same head of Gwen Paltro was used to make the autopsy scene in Contageon
I like it because I think that shows what tipped him. That's how rage works, as someone with a temper, that's exactly what tips you into "seeing red" where you just lose control. It's being in a situation where your patience is already being tested, where you're already struggling to hold it together, and then something blasts your mind like that, either someone says something or you think about something, some kind of emotional trigger just gives you one last firm shove that finally tips you off of the tight-rope and then you're just falling.
Mills was conflicted, mills was debating, and then he thought about her face and immediately all the resolve melted and his lower brain took full control of that trigger finger.
He hesitated without knowing.
A clean disposal
I agree with EOM.
funny how all the ppl are saying don't do it but in real life they would not hesitate to get revenge if it was their loved ones who had been killed in that way. this streamer generation has missed on the golden age era of movies like this. top notch acting on all part. David Fincher is a genius
Alot of them said: Do it/ I would have done it.
One thing I learned about watching reactions to this movie was not everyone was saying "shoot him". I just assumed everyone thought the same as me during this scene.
I wouldn't do it. I wouldn't let him win out of sheer spite. I'm not gonna let him control me. I'd honestly be more pissed off about him trying to use my wife and I as playthings in his little game than I would be about losing her. Like, go rot in jail, have fun with the rest of your life in a cell, trying to figure out how I could've possibly refused to participate in your weird fantasy about human nature.
I'll go home and "take care" of myself later, where you don't get to watch.
Yeah I agree he shouldn't have killed him, but at the same time I know I would not be strong enough not to empty clip and reload just to do it again.
If Kat has a partner, do not, under any circumstances, upset her.
"It's a lose, lose"
John Doe dies for his sin of Envy, but Mills doesn’t die for his sin of Wrath. So actually he didn’t win.
Mills does go to prison and has to deal with the loss of his wife and child so his fate may be worse than death.
I'm just wondering: In order for Mills to "become wrath", was John Doe expecting David to off HIMSELF, after shooting HIM?
Death isn't necessarily the punishment. Sloth and lust lived technically.
Mills just murdered an unarmed, kneeling, handcuffed convict. Doe knew he'd face up to a life sentence, or, depending on the state the film is set in, a death sentence.
No, Mills X'ing Doe is Wrath. "Become vengance, become wrath."
"wrath, noun
1: strong vengeful anger or indignation
2: retributory punishment for an offense or a crime : divine chastisement"
@@offcutthe also has the trauma of his wife and child being gone.
I'd do life too.
I don't think they'd even give you life. Hardened criminals getting like 60 days for homicide in California these days. Although, Mills isn't "from a disadvantaged community," so the DA's would probably throw the book at him.
@@twelvecatsinatrenchcoat Your crazy if you think a cop is going to jail for killing a serial killer, they do worst shit than that all the time and are just fine, he'll be fine
@ Kiddo, he's in custody, on his knees, with a police helicopter filming him, in what is likely the most publicized case in the city's entire history. On what legal grounds is his defense going to argue he shouldn't be charged?
Whoever says/thinks that Mills shouldn't have shot John is probably a psychopath, seriously, because what Mills did is the most human reaction in that scenario
He only wins if if you playing by his rules, if you ignore them, they are irrelevant.
WHAT’S IN THE BOX????
In the end, John Doe won, but, he didn't get to experience it very long.
He'd for sure wanted to die for a long long long time. Before he ever started any of this. Basically the entire thing is just an extremely elaborate "sue is side" by Cop.
