      Funny you should say that. A friend was asking me about making some 5-inch fingers last night. I have set up a scanner using an old Xbox Kinect but have not got round to dressing anyone up to scan yet.

      Please let me know is you succeed. I am currently messing with an HO figure scaled up but it's low poly and the arms are in the wrong place. I am not smart enough to remodel the file but can probably do some physical cuting and gluing and filling to get a driver

    Where did you get the SV03 ? As far as I know , they're not avialble (yet) .
    You've used and demonstrated a number of 3D printers , what would you recommend for a starter with a reasonable budget ? Filament printers that is , not the anycubic version .

    • @myfordboy
      @myfordboy  4 роки тому

      I understand the SV03 will be available to order in November.
      I was sent one to evaluate by Sovol 3D. Sovol is my favorite make. The SV01 is well made and uses a lot of Creality parts. Bigger bed than an an Ender 3 which is a good choice for a smaller budget. The glass bed holds prints well and release easy when cooled.
      The SV03 is even better. Larger build volume and has BLTouch auto leveling and "silent "board. You can upgrade the SV01 to a silent board also.
      I can't see you ever need another printer if you went for the SV03 350 x 350 x 400 build volume.

    Hey dear could you please demonstrate us how to work with mild steel casting or metals having high melting point. I learnt aluminium casting from you and did some castings too but failed in mild steel case

    • @myfordboy
      @myfordboy  4 роки тому +2

      Steel in not something that can be easily cast at home if at all.

    • @tomt9543
      @tomt9543 4 роки тому

      @@myfordboy cast steel is very common. Rail cars, locomotives, construction equipment, among others, heavily use cast steel. The real beauty of it, besides it’s strength, is it’s weldability! Cast iron, not so much! On rail equipment, the couplers & knuckles, wheels, trucks, center plate that sits in the truck bolster, are just a few of the components made of cast steel. Cast iron on the other hand is far too brittle to be of any use when you’re running 200+ car length trains of 100 ton cars!

    • @myfordboy
      @myfordboy  4 роки тому +3

      I know cast steel is common but not something done by the hobbyist.

    Well sometimes I feel like I switched to the TV Shop channel :) The difference is that they are talking nonstop :)
    When you made the extension to that flat cable, I was like "it's not very elegant, you should ask for a DuPont crimping tool :) and use the right length of cable instead". And later I see that you already have everything...

    • @myfordboy
      @myfordboy  4 роки тому +2

      It was finished and worked well but larger models are now easily bought and are cheaper than it cost to build mine.

      @@myfordboy Good to hear. I wasn't interested because of the price. I was interested because of the craftsmanship and level of quality you put into it and didn't really have the satisfaction of a conclusion of seeing it print.

  • @silasmarner7586
    @silasmarner7586 4 роки тому +1

    Your modeling, casting, 3d printing etc. are absolutely superior to my abilities; however I humbly suggest (purely as a preventative measure) to stagger the cuts on the extension so that none of the soldered splices coincide. Then there's zero point zero chance of them ever shorting thru the heat shrink, which has happened to me here and there.

    • @danielstewart3507
      @danielstewart3507 4 роки тому

      You must be making a few mistakes somewhere if you are experiencing that problem.

    • @ib9rt
      @ib9rt 4 роки тому

      @@danielstewart3507 It can happen. Heat shrink is not very elastic and can split open if it experiences too much flexing in use, exposing the bare wires underneath. This is not so much a problem if the joined wires are secured in place and not subject to bending.

    • @danielstewart3507
      @danielstewart3507 4 роки тому

      @@ib9rt If you are putting the join where there is bending of the wires then you are definitely doing something wrong.
