I personally keep a decent collection of bonsai and I love watching you go through these trees as a “non bonsai” person and see your perspective. It is good to remember how those not terribly familiar with bonsai view them. Well done, btw! Really enjoyed the tour!
Thank you, I was actually afraid of that. I appreciate your kind comment. I thought that bonsai aficionados would be annoyed at my voice and amateur commentary but the trees were too beautiful to not share this. I will try and go to the big event in Tokyo in February if it is still going on and if not will continue to upload whatever events are going on in the country. Thank you for watching and commenting!
@@DaveinOsaka Aw man, I'd love to go to the Kokufu-ten!!!!! One day I will. Sadly I was hoping to go this coming Feb but COVID *sad trombone sounds*. So what tree did you get? Or did you even get one? And no, it wasn't annoying at all. It as actually really enjoyable to hear your reactions to the techniques artists use to cause such reactions! It means the trees were doing their job :) .
I got a very small tree. One of the ones I showed in the video. It unfortunately didn’t last too long. I left it with a friend when I went travelling and they did not water it properly. I will try again though!
@@DaveinOsaka Well it may not be the same as a traditional tree but consider a port afra bonsai (aka elephant jade or mini jade). It is a succulent but makes a very passable bonsai. I keep several and they don't care a bit if you leave for a week or two.
Bonsai started in Japan… penjing means Landscape in a bowl and it’s a different art that began in China after it was influenced by the introduction of bonsai from Japan
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. This weekend I will be broadcasting live at the miniature bonsai exhibition in Kyoto if you are interested. Please look out for my notification!
2nd one you called a Chinese juniper is actually a needle juniper. And the "rocks" used for what you called landscape bonsai, that's called "suiseki". Anyone interested in real bonsai need to check out Bonsai Miria here on UA-cam or their website. There is WAY more in bonsai than most people think and everything in what you see here in the "formal display" of bonsai has a reason and purpose. None of these are grown under lights indoors or any of that stuff most western people think. It's so funny hearing some of the things people are asking you lol. I could only watch like 7 mins but good video quality. Bonsai is by far my favorite hobby and there is so so much more to it than just a tree in a container and it's also a very hard hobby to learn and takes years of patience and discipline to have trees of the quality shown in Japan. I hope anyone that really enjoys bonsai really look into Bonsai Mirai.
Should get a Crassula ovata (jade plant), they're cheap, easy to grow, don't mind if they don't get watered for the odd month, and kind of look like bonsais?
Thank you for showing us this art. 😍 what a beautiful collection of Bonsai ❤️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you for watching! I’ll have some azalea bonsai coming up in the next two weeks.
Amazing Bonsai!!
Super amazing bonsai exhibition, thanks so much for sharing!

I looked up some pictures after you mentioned it and they’re beautiful trees. If I see the right one, I will get one. Maybe in February!

I’ll have to look that plant up. Thank you for the advice.
Sorry but I don't see the distortions as beauty, more a depiction of struggle and pain.
