A great spot for nose shots can be found at the water park at the southern end of the runway. It gives you a good prospective of the late rotations ffrom the now cancelled Ryanair 737-8's and the nice feeling of them climbing steeply over your head. This spot might also be used for arrivals using the northern approach to the runway.
Aldergrove seem to have lost a lot of business to Belfast City aiport over the years. eg BMI, Aer Lingus. BA have long gone. They don't seem to have much regular traffic left. Easyjet seems to have monopolised Aldergrove, apart from the odd charter. I suspect Aldergrove have outpriced themselves. It's about time they became more competitive.
Well, they renamed Liverpool "John Lennon" airport and he wasn't exactly averse to drugs either. Albeit that Best's choice of drug was Alcohol. Actually I don't think they should idolise anybody by renaming a building after them.
