  • The 60th anniversary of Doctor Who is finally here with The Star Beast and Wild Blue Yonder being released by this point. With the recent episode, Wild Blue Yonder, we got a mention of the flux, the key factor in the events of the previous doctor who series. In this video I will be discussing the possibility of it being the cause of not just that series but the 60th anniversary specials as well.

    Just a bit of lore on The Toymaker: he’s actually a guardian of time (like the black and white guardian), he’s the guardian of dream and fantasy. His own universe is called the celestial toy room and he’s fought against the doctor multiple times in comics and audio books (big finish audio books are on par of “canon” as the show), the last time we saw him his universe was dying (he can always make another one) but the 12th doctor decided to help him and took a part of the tardis and made that his new toy room, he did this cause the Toymaker is terrified of leaving it and wants to have the ability to just do as he pleases and although he has the power to change the entire multiverse (he’s an omniversal being) he isnt allowed to as it’s against the cosmic order.
    He brings people in to his toy room simply cause he’s so old that he needs some form of entertainment.

      Damn thats detailed. I did not take any external media into account but if thats all official “canon” it definitely changes my theory but it could still kind of play out similarly. Thats good to know though, helpful for this coming episode to know his abilities.

      @@TheLaneDW yes he has had many encounters with the doctor over the years, I’m pretty sure all extended media is classed as canon but kinda works more like head canon but I do know for a fact that big finish audio books are 100% just as canon as the show.
      he’s actually one of the most powerful beings in the entire whoniverse. Him being a guardian of time means he is responsible for keeping the cosmic order (he’s essential to the existence of everything not just a universe or a multiverse, literally everything just like the rest of the guardians. There’s not many beings that are more powerful in the whoniverse so I’m guessing that’s why he’s the big bad for the last special.........I do think some of the things u where saying are correct tho like the doctor already being in the toyroom. This might be a more sophisticated game of his where’s he’s recreated the doctors universe 1 for 1, he easily has the power to do that. I honestly can’t wait.

    My theory with the toymaker is he is quite possibly the being in Gallifrian folklore known as the other. It is well documented previous writers of classic who actually wanted him to be a Timelord which would make alot of sense

      The Toymaker was originally going to be a Time Lord, but back then they hadn't really decided what a Time Lord was going to be, originally the Doctor was going to be a human from the far future. The Other was allegedly The Doctor from the future, or the Doctor was The Other who kept reincarnating every time he run out of regenerations, because there was and will always be a Doctor. But thats no longer canon, so pffffff.

      They started laying the groundwork for the Doctor being the Other at the end of the seventh doctor's run, though it was cancelled before that was established. I think here they might go the other way and say that the Doctor is from wherever the Toymaker is from. It isn't established where the timeless child was originally from yet, so I think it's that part of it that they might tie in here.

    The way i understood it was this, every time in doctor who when the doctor says hes been to the edge of the universe or end of the universe our outside the universe or anything like that, you can always see our universe, like in flux, they sre inbetween universes but you can see the light from them still, but the doctor in wild blue yonder said that they were so far beyond the unverse that the light hasnt even reached there yet, they arent at the edge of the universe, in my head they are in the space beyond the edge of the universe, but so far out that they cant see the light from any other universe, let alone our own

      Also, while I like your theory, there's one gripe I have with it, the monsters in wild blue yonder talk about moving through "no space" and passing "no time" I feel like that slightly discredits the idea of them being from another universe, rather than them being from the void of nothing, however I do really think that him invoking the superstition, and him changing Isaac newton's discovery, and even davros and the Daleks, its almost as if the toy maker will be conjured Purley from thee chaos brought on by these things

    Heres the thing. I dont think toymaker is from that universe, and heres why:
    “The eternals have their games, the guardians have their power struggles, for me…this dimension…is a beautiful board for a game. The Toymaker would approve.” Hard to believe this was an unintentional coincidence back in jodies era but this could explain the dynamic between the other worldly beings and The Trickster’s pantheon of discourse.

    • @victorhale
      @victorhale 8 місяців тому +1

      The other reason why I think the Toymaker is from our universe is cuz of what many people have pointed out was discussed back in hartnel’s era, that the toymaker was originally a timelord. However since this isnt valid evidence let me introduce a perspective:
      If the timeless child is canon, i think it explains something else. Back in Old who during the trial of the timelords, the master was given the opportunity for a full life pardon, a new regeneration cycle. Where was this brought back up? The Eleventh Doctor. He was given a new cycle at the very tail end of that era. From there lets count the amount of regenerations:
      12, 13, 14. 3 so far right? Well now there’s a 4th coming up. So if this is true, the timeless child can be both canon and not canon at the same time. As they can dictate whether or not the doctor has 12 NEW regenerations or more. Which means there could be 16 (5), 17 (6), 18 (7), 19 (8), 20 (9), 21 (10), 22 (11), 23 (12). Which means at any point in tbe far future they can declare canon or not canon that the timeless child was actually the doctor or that the doctor was related to it in some way.

      I did not remember that line from Jodie’s, in my rewatch im about to start series 11 though. I have not watched enough classic who yet but I have heard about that serial. It would make the most sense if the toymaker was from our universe and also a timelord. Im sure whatever/whomever he is will be cool but I kind of think having him be from outside the universe it could increase the stakes as his power will un imaginable. Less than 24hrs until we fond out though 😁.
