The absolute comedy that is bringing EATs on defense missions. Teammates minding their own business shooting enemies, finally run out of ammo, turn around to grab an ammo pack... aaaaand the base is untraversable because you covered it in EAT drops that they have to break to get by
Fun Fact: The EAT-17 is named such because 17 is leetspeak for "it", so the weapon's shorthand name is also what you'll probably be yelling when using the weapon. "EAT IT!!!"
A backpack that lets you carry a second support weapon would be cool. It would be balanced in the sense that you wouldn’t be able to use weapons that require a proprietary backpack to function, and could be clunky when you need to switch weapons in a pinch.
@@donovanjoseph737 not exactly. The back pack has a designated button, so instead of "use the backpack" you just equip the gun store in the backpack. Unless you are talking of other thing.

additional looney toons strategy: hellpod impacts deal enough damage to instakill (almost) anything, and in the case of tanks & chargers, you can stick the beacon to them and have 3 heavy kills with 1 stratagem.

A good strat for the EAT is to pick it up alone as a support weapon and grab a support weapon off a POI since these are usually the medium ennemy/horde clearing type. Saves you a spot !
Main reason I bring eat its. If you have friends they can drop you spare support weapons also. Anything becomes fair game including the break action shorgun.
On the Illuminate maps I never bring a support weapon at this point, the map is lousy with support weapons, and you hardly need anti-tank as of January 2025...
EAT is actually pretty nice against buildings, it can 1 tap Fabricators from any angle which can save time when not wanting to walk to the small outposts, and while it doesn't 1 tap spore spewers or shrieker nests it gets very close to it so a follow up from any other will finish it off giving you the chance to take out shrieker nests before they can even spawn shriekers
Very similar to the new Anti-Tank Emplacement, if you end up somewhere with great sightlines, it's probably worth taking a break to call as many rounds of EATs in as you need to clear everything you can see.
good vid, always appreciate an EATer also the illuminate walker's weakspot are the spindly bit that connects the leg to the head, ez drops with anything medium-pen and up
> Play Tower Defense Mission > Bring EAT > Keep dropping EAT in the same spot > Form a crater > Keep dropping EAT's into crater > Bile Titan pulls up > Dump 8 EAT to body because I can > Super Earth Defense Budget well spent
While not really suited to deal with 3 tanks, it deals with 3 chargers just fine. The big schnuts strategy of Jump pack over it, toss the stratagem on its back, it comes down taking that one out. Then there's two EAT's to take care of the other chargers or what have you. rinse, repeat.
Me and my buddies only used the EATs for a long time. I've transitioned to the AMR now mostly, but the EAT used to fill out my loadout until I learned the AMR properly. The EAT is also amazing to take down structures with the callin itself. Drop the ball on a tank, let the landing kill it, then use the EATs to take out 2 more. Only downside (much like the commando) is if you find yourself running overtime.
never run overtime. I am not a common eat user unless on small maps but I always pester my squad to leave at the 4-5 minute mark. Its like hot dropping on a bot planet. You do it once and you never do that stupid sh again.
ive been running EAT on the bot side i can now pretty reliably hit a target up to 400 meters away, including dropship engines also it makes base clearing a breeze since a single EAT will one-shot a bot fab no matter where it hits
one of my go to loadouts is running both the eat and commando because theyre both anti-tank and on short cooldowns, allowing you to call them in frequently and give your teammates extra armaments if necessary, they also double up in damage by calling them in on a target since the hellpod that delivers them can be used to deal damage as well, they also work great as a distraction after being called in when youre trying to utilize stealth
One other thing I will note - the quick cooldown also allows you to use the hellpod itself as a weapon, as you aren’t so worried about not recovering the EAT that you can’t bonk a tank on the head with your call in
Who's gonna let everyone know that landed squid ships can have their shields stripped with an automatic before hitting them with an explosive proper? Jokes aside, solid vid
that does take quite a bit of ammo to do. But I use the Sickle so thats hardly an issue for me, I just gun down the shield then grenade the opening if I dont feel like using a stratagem
EATs or commando always have a slot when I fight the Illuminate. Its good to have as an anti-tank option while scavenging a for a new support weapon from a POI
I like to call it the easy anti tank because it's an easy solution to get rid of whatever you want. Plus, you technically get 3 anti tank rounds since the hellpod also works as a weapon.
Yea, the main benefit of EAT is that it is perfectly viable as a side support weapon. (As in, you are mainly running around with an MG, granade launcher, or something)
I my experience the EAT shines on lower difficulties especially, where tanks are sporadic. While somebody does need anti-tank capability, it's just not fun bringing a dedicated anti-tank stratagem.
The EAT has an issue for me thats been there since launch: It takes a WHILE for your helldiver to switch weapons to it and it also for some reason does not fire on the first click of the mouse. Now swtiching to it is not that big of a deal but what ive found is that the best thing to do it to aim and do an arming click before firing so youre just clicking twice, maybe three of four times until this thing goes off.
Theres momentum damage so if your stepping back your projectile does like 1 less damage and in the past it was a reason some enemies took more than one shot. I think they tried to fix this with changing the health of enemies but keep that in mind you need to be moving towards the target to get that extra damage with firing. Someone did a video on this awhile ago.
The EAT os great on defensive missions, since anyone can pick it up and use it immediately instead of worrying about stealing someones stratagem weapon.
One combo I've seen is to take EATs and Comando, both disposable ATs but keeps the back pack slot available. That does mean you are using 2 stratagem slots for AT and one backpack strat but your bringing the equivalent of 4 EATs. xD Anyway, for taking out squid harvesters after you shred the shield off aim for the hip section that connects to the body rather than the eye.
I love to bring eat + commando to rise a flag missions. I mean you can find a support weapon somewhere or steal one from your teammate after 10 minutes or so
back in hd1 these were incredible, drop an eat on a tank for 1 kill, then they one shot basically anything that didn't have odins blood in its veins and a few things that do, plus sharing them with the squad was more of a thing they are still good but the larger battlefield sizes make it harder to share and hellpods have gone from being the most powerful weapons in the arsenal to mostly items of convenience
As someone who loves running backpacks, the EAT is my constant companion. However… I do think that against Illuminate, it can be smarter to use the Commando, since it can fire multiple times in rapid succession, and those illuminate shields typically need one rocket to pop, and one to crack the tripod or ship underneath. But the slower projectiles you’re supposed to be able to laser guide make it a hard proposition against bugs n bots.
To enhance the EAT experience, it shouldn't be allowed to drop your other back slots kinda like odj items like sssd it. It would make the action of keeping your real support weapon on hand when on the move
Tip: Don't aim at the eye of the harvester, it's a trick. It has too much hp and will take Two EATs. Aim at the main Pelvis joint of the leg. Only takes single EAT.
I used to use the eat a lot, and don't get me wrong it's really good at defensive, but now i pretty much always run quasar cannon with shield generator pack. Quasar cannon technically has a shorter cooldown than eat, you don't have to swap anything, and it does the same damage. Shield generator pack has saved me so many times, from friendly fire to my own stratagems blowing up beside me, it gives so much more wiggle room for shenanigans. Having to swap support weapons is an inefficient way of spreading democracy imo.
I don't use it because I"m indecisive. I use it because my all-blues Terminid build (actually very good) needs something to quickly destroy bile titans or chargers in a pinch -- Goes well with the Guard Dog/Resupply Pack, HMG, and FRV. It looks very funny.
would like a new strategem with one bigger rocket, we got 3 types of rockets basically, big ones like the recoilless medium with eats smaller ones with the commando, eat got 2 commando 4 with around 50%damaga but double ammo, so would be fitting to get a one time use big rocket with damage on the recoilless level.
The EAT is the water bottle of support weapons. The Commando is the soda can of support weapons. Bring both, it's your freedom and democratic duty to ensure your team is never more than a short jog away from a starbucks brand anti-tank solution.
eat is ok... after commando came, commando have 4 rockets which means you can use it for structures as well as enemies. problem comes with accuracy which i have a problem with, its possible to kill titan with 2 headshots. sadly i mostly and up with 4+ vs mostly (1eat). which makes them useless for me. but i found a great way with arc thrower and commando, eat is literally single target when commando is capable of destroying structers in 2 rockets meaning shrieker nests you destroy in 100s coz cooldown is 100s while eat needs 3 minutes. (2 tbh coz as he said you are mostly close to some eat on the floor you already called. yet commando can deal with bug holes quite nicely with no need for secondary being gl pistol with just grenades...
