    Beautiful car, I saw one like this in the late 70s in a junkyard in Missouri, green , white interior, white stripe , 440 4 speed. Car was complete minus wheels, sitting on blocks. Sadly my buddy and I had no idea what it was.

    A year or two ago, a guy on my newspaper route bought a brand new 68 Charger... triple black with a 440 and 4-speed. Man, I still remember it's looks and sound to this day. It was a special order... and I imagine pretty rare. Manual steering, manual brakes, no AC, radio delete... what we would have called back in those days... a 'man's' car.

      @jeremythompson9122 5 років тому +2

      I would too. The 440 is a better street engine than a Hemi. But the 1970-71 Hemi was a way better street engine than the 1966-69 Hemi was because of the switch to a slightly milder hydraulic camshaft in 1970. The 1966-69 Hemi had a pretty radical solid lifter cam. But the 1970-71 Hemi was just as good of a street engine as the 440 was

    Lou:Nice Mopar. I'll be the 1st to admit I'm not a Mopar fan per se. But there's always an exception to the rule and this is one of the Mopars of era that I actually like. The instruments especially when equipped with the "tick tach clock" is a very interesting design. That angle in which the 4sp shifter comes towards the driver's right hand is also an interesting design. It makes you wonder what happened to good old American ingenuity when you see how US vehicles are these days. I mean when this car was made is when Detroit was king and aids meant assistance. Ah the good old days I'll always miss them. Have a gr8 God blessed day.

    That is one of my top 10 Musclecars of all time! Unfortunately with the prices so high on all these kinds of cars I would have to sell my house to buy one...and that can't happen. At least I have UA-cam to admire these types of cars. Of all the Musclecars ever made, the 69 Charger and the 1970 GTO Judge in "Orbit Orange" are ties for #1. I am familiar with the basic Charger , the SE designation and the R/T performance model with the 440 V8 and the R/T SE for the luxury performance model. All of them had concealed headlamps. I like the look and style of the regular Charger better. BUT, I would absolutely love to have a 500 model. I used to have a 1971 500, but stupidly traded it in on a Dodge Dakota.

      Hi Ray S, Glad to read you enjoy this one :-) We've all made some deals like your 500 for a Dakota trade, Lou

    Awesome ride. I believe there were only 392 of these made just in order to homologate it for NASCAR. I'd actually rather have a 69 Charger 500 than a 69 Charger Daytona or 70 Superbird because they are more rare and definitely alot better looking than the wing cars. I liked the Ford Torino Talladega and Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II also

    Was that Charger 500 supposed to race against that Torino Talladega you videoed a while back? The flat front end reminded me of the Talladega.

      Hi Steel Assault
      , That sounds like a fun race between these two on an oval track :-) Lou

      Well, I was curious if the Charger 500 was Chryslers version of the Torino Talladega, as they both had the very flat front ends, for NASCAR rules?

      69 Charger does have the divider like this car, and here is the link. ua-cam.com/video/sHxGdmo-B3w/v-deo.html

    Let me guess, it sits in the garage more than anything with the kids getting their booger hooks all over it?

      I'm pretty sure this one has a car cover, just so kids can't get their booger hooks all over it :-)

      @@loucostabile hey I would be HONORED to be compared to Doug....thats inspiration right there. Plus I was joking. You do older cars mostly and he does newer cars mostly. 2 different ballfields.
