Yes!! The only reason why i dont hate such a ranking although my fav on F because they give a clear explanation about the song she didnt like, like why she hates it and why she love it and the way she explain it really OBJECTIVE, from the instrumental, vocals, arrangement, etc. It made me enjoy those rankings more. Ppl should make this as example to rank tbh
Not finished with the video, but I already like how your mother words her opinions, even on songs she dislikes. Despite seeing favorites of mine in F tier, I never once felt bad about seeing them there, because it made perfect sense why and was so clearly a matter of personal taste and opinion. "Bug" IS very chaotic and computery, and if you like that stuff you like it. If you don't like it then you don't. I never felt personally hurt by the placements no matter how "harsh" they were. Guess I'm saying this because many peer-made song rankings can actually be quite cruel to songs they dislike abd it can sting a bit AHA.
Oh I get that as a peer that ranks. I’m very “THIS COVER MAKES ME ANGRY” about my lowest of lows (my new ranking system has only 3 songs at 1/10 tho so at least I try to keep the amount I feel that way about small), but she’s extremely chill and occasionally even has a positive aspect to bring up about some of her F tiers like Mind Brand’s guitar and Bocca della Verita’s piano. She’s less invested and unfamiliar with any other versions of these songs so she doesn’t feel a need to be as scathing about her least favorites. She’s already inspired me to want to be more positive/less harsh for anything I would consider higher than a 1/10 (I can’t lie about those very few- sorry to anyone that likes them).
I think this is the first time i see hello/how are you in a high section of a tierlist. Your mom has really unique and good taste and i like how consistent her description is throughout the whole video so even when some of my favorite songs are on the below level, i'm not even mad because your mother put up a reasonable and understanable explanation for each songs
This was quite an experience to react to, seeing some of my fav songs on F tier (Give me your night and Kanadetomosusora) hurts a bit but kinda expected them to be in the low tiers after seeing the intro, but also seeing “It was a very beautiful June” in S tier is a win tbh. Also seeing the amount of songs in the negative tiers being the same as the positives ones is crazy, for some reason, I’m more interested in seeing her takes on Leo/need songs rather than the rest of the groups!!!
Unfortunately I can only get her to agree to keep doing these if I space them out by months because it takes many hours to listen to every song, take notes, and then sort them. I’m trying to keep them still relatively close together though because if spaced out too much the discographies are gonna get harder to get through due to size. It’ll probably be March, May, July or August.

I love your mom‘s opinion, it‘s great that you add her personal reviews in, so that we can also relate to her opinion and I also like how she‘s judging the lyrics and instrumentals, not the vocals of the voice actors, bless her heart, I‘m excited for part 3 🫶🏼
What sticks out to me is how she’s mostly unbothered by the NT/SP voices and just accepts them if not actively enjoys their presence like with Niigo KAITO. The fact that she cares about the composition the most is really interesting and that occasionally leads to takes that aren’t necessarily popular (which is also interesting).

She actually has but I don’t remember her opinion on it. She did say “I think I’ve heard this one before” after it though. I mainly remember how much she LOVED Love Ka because she uses it as an example of how interesting Japanese music is when describing it to friends/family.
As someone who’s favorite nightcord songs are bug I nan desu venom bitter choco decoration and totemo itai I don’t know how to feel (ni still respect her opinions!)
As someone that ranks Venom as their #8 for all songs in the game with Sekai versions it gave me psychic damage to see her put it there, but I'm okay. It's fine. She can feel that way. She didn't hear a peep out of me because I try not to influence her rankings whatsoever. (at least Gehenna, my #9, is in A rank. the W's outweigh the L's)
I saw the first song and immediately knew how controversial the list would be 😂 you know the comments section is going to be bad when more than 1/4 of the songs are in F tier. Also, Infinitely Gray broke C tier, that’s the highest a Surii song has placed so far! I appreciate the Cutlery and Jishoumushoku love, and Samsa placing first… honestly it’s really funny lol. I actually find it especially funny that Bug is last and Samsa is 1st place considering how the songs are kinda linked. Bug is becoming computer bug, Samsa a literary reference to transforming into an insect. Two totally different takes on a similar-ish concept and they’re received on the polar opposite ends for her.
It could go either way for any given song tbh. She actually liked Beyond the way when I was sampling songs from each group when we were deciding who to start with.

Don’t be afraid to try branching out a bit if he’s more receptive to slower/faster songs than my mom though (I don’t personally know how 1:1 his taste is with hers, you can probably make that judgement call if you want). I’ve found my mom likes knowing more about the music I listen to so I hope that goes as well for you!

So kinda a funny story, I actually went to family fun farm in my area the day Mizu5 dropped and brought a Mizuki plush I own for photos- because I wanted some happy content of her to share with friends (the photos are also a bit deep on my community tab I think). She knew some Mizu5 lore back then because I had to explain what I was doing, she just didn’t know Bake no Hana was the Mizu5 song at first. She’s been vaguely aware of Sekai for awhile, these videos are making her more actually aware of it.

1. I love live commentary style comments like this 2. I’m considering making the anni themes and Cup Noodles songs a bonus thing for the finale of all of these. It’s kind of in a “maybe will, maybe won’t” type space rn. I’m also considering for the finale a way for her to judge the songs added for groups since their respective videos (Boku no Kami-sama and Konton Boogie for WxS for example) without making her re-rank everything, providing a way that we know her thoughts on them but without overwhelming effort of just redoing the whole video.
My note speed used to be slower in older videos ☺️ The speed most people play at is too fast for my reaction times, at least currently. I only increase by .5 when I hit a skill ceiling. Any higher at once and it’s too jarring, any less and it’s not gonna help. I only do it in that scenario because if I do that means I have to re-record all of my assets for consistency and we’re almost at the 300 song mark (I don’t record most VS Only songs) for that so… yeah… 🫠

2. I’m considering making the anni themes and Cup Noodles songs a bonus thing for the finale of all of these. It’s kind of in a “maybe will, maybe won’t” type space rn. The speed most people play at is too fast for my reaction times, at least currently. I only increase by .5 when I hit a skill ceiling. Any higher at once and it’s too jarring, any less and it’s not gonna help. I only do it in that scenario because if I do that means I have to re-record all of my assets for consistency and we’re almost at the 300 song mark (I don’t record most VS Only songs) for that so… yeah… 🫠
Where'd you get the song titles from? There's already official English localizations for the large majority of these songs so I found that a bit odd.
